Fan Mission: Chronicles of Skulduggery 0: To Catch a Thief (2021/11/20)

OMG I loved this. It's not one of the giant ultra-fancy FM's like Iris, but it did so much so well! Great in every aspect... visuals, story, gameplay, performance, even had more dynamic objectives that broke a bit from the ordinary patterns. I found less than half the loot in this one though, likely missed many optional areas and secrets... not good, will have to go back in or replay to see what I've missed. From those wonders that I did find...

By the gods I love Willard, best crazy Easter egg character you could run into :D I didn't even leave him knocked out since he's such a cool guy... hope he didn't mind. If TDM NPC's had a chatbot ability I'd have probably asked him "excuse me, I'm stuck trying to find that key, can you at least give me a hint on where to find it so I can rob the rest of your house"?

I also need to find out what to do with a certain cute mouse. I visited the sewers but didn't find any more clues as to what else I could do there. Wonder if the post above mine is accurate or just a metaphor... really need to go back and play the rest of this to find out.

As for a certain poem I was thinking to myself: As he frobbed the orbs, his blackjack slowly became the selected weapon :P

Managed to find two bugs worth noting, both in the same area:

Whatever is supposed to be behind the torture dungeon guard, it appears as a black box so it's an invalid entity.

Also I tried knocking him out for fun: The main objective becomes deselected even if I already placed the thief on the straw bed, and it's not failed either so the run doesn't end. So if I sneak behind the guy and knock him out the FM silently locks up I imagine.

The is a mission objective where you have to find someones petrat. But I think you have to find a letter or something and then the misson objective is added. I think it's somewhere in the streets.

Thanks: Did that and more yesterday. Found most of the loot and roughly half the secrets, a few of them with the hints here; The thing that seems to get us in those FM's is knowing which windows are openable and which are just decorations, there are so many you can go through in areas I didn't imagine the player could climb to till I traced back the steps and saw how it's done.

I had to look up some things, because the chest in the hideout wouldn't part with its contents. Couldn't target them at all =(
Still ended up missing about 400 coins. But honestly, it was a blast of a mission.
I was running back and forth and kept missing windows and such (I did not find two other secret compartments in the apartment. And I'm still wondering how he pinned that to himself =P)

Thanks for the work you put in on this mission. I'm just playing it now and loving it. I have been away from the Dark Mod for a while and it is great to get back into playing some missions and this one ticks all the boxes. So far I have the main objective done and the rat caught and just looking for the ring now. Thought it would be in the sewer because she said it was stolen when she was in the toilet but not there. I will have to keep looking. I also have to find a way into the last door in the sewer but I'm guessing there are loads of things yet to do! I need to find a huge amount of gold for one!

Just got to the "chest" and I can't get either of the items. I have just completed the gold objective so the money is not important but I want to read the scroll so much. Anyone know how can I cheat this?

nevermind - got them with the chest closed!

Love the black metal references too btw!

I'm really not digging this do not alert anyone objective. I am constantly failing this mission every time I knock out a guard inside Burke's manor. There's no way they were alerted prior to attempting to knock them out either. This is basically forcing me to ghost the mission, which is something I do not personally enjoy. Why can't the do not alert objective be removed when playing on the lowest difficulty setting?

A problem which unfortunately quite a few missions have, at least on the highest difficulty (there are often no K.O. objectives).

I always thought that it is a bad idea to force the player to play a certain intended way. Same with save rooms in the mission.

Please play more? That's your solution? I do have a life outside of this game. I know that's hard to believe. This is not an optional objective at all. One alert ends the mission on the easiest difficulty.

Yes cavador, i think there is no problem with this. The excellent author Bienie tell you a story at the beginning and created all that hard work that you now can play and maybe enjoy while you live your real life. I understand that maybe you have found difficult to solve the objectives, but my advice is simple. Read the readables and enjoy this little gem in the TDM missions. I have replayed the mission actually and have not found any bug or something.

      I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.
