It would be nice to have a mod that takes a bunch of paintings and randomly applies some of these to missions at mission start. Although maybe this is a bad idea, because it might change the atmosphere in rooms.

Yeah, I'm not sure that would go over all too well. I, personally, am kinda particular about the paintings I choose and where they should go. This would also likely break the atmosphere for missions where the main/side objective is to steal a particular painting, or if a mapper has placed a frobable plaque near the painting that shows the player what the title of that particular painting is.

Looking at that Winter landscape picture I would love to see a mission where you click on the painting and get transported to that place. This would actually be a cool mission hub..

Another cool idea is to make paintings out of TDM screenshots, which then are some sort of easter eggs. Maybe add some filters to make it look like a painting. I quite liked spotting paintings of screenshots of some of graiman's missions.

This is a very neat idea! and it should actually be fairly simple to do.... and now you are making me re-think my WIP :D

This was already done once in The Painter's Wife as a small little easter egg, although it is a reference to a location within that FM, and not a different one.

Dragofer's teledoor also has a fade to dark effect, which could be useful.

You could combine that with an ambilight-style Presence Lamp, so that if you come close(r) the wall lights up around it..

Just kidding.

I was playing Skyrim, got bored fast. Got back to The Dark Mod just for one mission, played "Somewhere above the City" which is not really a great mission but still good, as in above-average.
My biggest regret is living in this country, where there's a heat wave, I am sweating at 20c and I really wish for temperatures below 5c.

Is there something wrong with the forums lately, or is it my browser? I've been having trouble formatting posts, and just now I couldn't format anything at all.
      I'm using Vivaldi.
Usually I have to: select text, click bold, nothing happens, select again, click bold, then it works.
Same for other stuff, like creating spoilers, bullet points, links. Nothing works the first time.

Even though I've been absent a long while, I still find myself dreamily wishing for the free time to do TDM mission development. When working on new research projects I'll find myself involuntarily thinking, "hee hee this could be a fun texture or readable or bit of map architecture." Or I find myself absentmindedly responding out loud to odd noises with a drunkguard-like "must've been rats!"
