Shut up, will you? I hope he will get out of the team soon. Hate men like that. All they think about when they think about women is about the, err..., you know what I mean... And completely forget about the person. Animals, not men.

It is true...ask my wife. I was only 'joking'. :laugh: Personally, I'm not entirely into the whole 'leather clad' look. Heh, I was a kid when I had a crush on her. Actually, it was more than ten years ago. Sometimes I forget how old I am. I guess it was more like 12 years ago. I would have been 18. Those were the days.

 

At any rate, there is a difference between appreciating someones beauty and drooling over hottness. Yes, I do agree that Gillian Anderson is very beautiful, there's nothing wrong with that. People shouldn't feel ashamed to acknowledge their appreciation for the human form, be it male or female. I'm just as comfortable agreeing with my wife that, "yes, that guy is rather attractive" as she is in agreeing that "yes, that girl is rather attractive". :)

The thing I wrote in Russian blindly translated meant

Heh, well. I didn't even drool over her then, I wasn't really interested in girls back in my school days. I was more interested in drawing. I just thought she was pretty.

Beauty is in fact not much more than the number (1 + sqrt(5))/2 applied in various different ways to the human form (called the "golden mean"), plus a heavy dose of physical symmetry.

 

It signifies youth and health, which are important qualities in choosing a mate since they increase the possibility of the offspring surviving. In short, men who did not like beauty would have been naturally selected out of the species a long time ago.

That's easier than it sounds. Modeling simple animals may not be that hard, but animating them believably is. Look at the T3 cats. They did nothing to enhance the realism of the setting, because the cat spun around on a dime and walked about in unbelievable circles, teleporting up steps instead of climbing. A crappy model ruins immersion more than not having one at all.

 

That said, we *have* talked about the possibility of scripting animal animations so that they are only seen at a distance and in certain situations--like a cat darting across a street or something. Don't know if that will make it in or not.

*shudder* Oh dear lord. They were the worst looking thing I've ever seen and the sound effects for them were pretty bad too. Sounded like they were recorded in a bathtub. They should have taken them out.

Doom 3 should make it easier to avoid this problem though, with its Walk IK system etc. Certainly the ticks/trites were very believable, especially when compared with the spiders in T1/T2 which were not much better than the T3 cats in animation terms.

The ticks/trites are well animated, that's why. I've imported and viewed their anims in Maya , and theyre very good. Im goign to try to copy them for our spiders, so we can make them crawl up through cracks, jump at people and sit on ceilings and crawl down walls etc.

THe IK stuff is only for stopping the feet from cutting through on stairs.

Aye, not only would animating even just one cat be hell, the AI structure for it would be a pain to code. Think of how a cat acts in real life, all the little movements it does, it's far easier to do a human who genreally acts within a certain set of boundaries.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh?
