Thanks ascottk! :)

@Spar:

Not really, although maybe a little bit. I'm not sure what the dealings were. :) We recorded a single for a compilation CD of local artists back in August. The guy who did the recording is going to be around until the end of September, so we're going to book a week with him to record a few demo tunes. All paid for by us, no freebies. :)

Good luck. Recording usually takes a lot longer than expected unless you've really got everything down--the pressure kind of messes things up a bit. Hopefully you're picking a professional recording engineer, otherwise it just won't sound very good. Believe me, the money is worth it. A mediocre recording no one will listen to.

(If he has you guys recording without a metronome, watch out...my band had a really bad experience with a discount recording service provided by a friend of the singers. We now have to go to a professional recording studio just to make up from that mistake, the results just weren't good. He claims that he can't get the mix files to this engineer for whatever reason (I didn't follow the drama) but the mixes were shit. I could have done a better job without experience.)

We recorded with the same guy back in August for a compilation CD and we were very pleased with the raw tracks. We nailed the bed track on the first take. Didn't use a metronome though and haven't heard of any of the bands around here doing that. We're tight though and know the stuff we're recording inside and out. We aim to capture the raw sound of our live shows.

      Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

      I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

      briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
      What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
      I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

      Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

      Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

      The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
