email assistance

On Dec 10th I sent a few emails without any problems. When I turned my comp on the afternoon of the 11th, Windows (7.0) installed a bunch of updates, and ever since then I am unable to send any emails (whether there is a causal connection or not I'm not sure). I can recieve them fine, but when I try to send I get the following error:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: You are not authorized to send mail as <eric@mindplaces.com>. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again.

I didn't change any settings or do anything else unusual, and a search for that message turns up nothing but a ten-year old complaint about the same problem that was never solved.

Anyone have any experience or insight into what might be the cause of such a message?

I can't tell from that article...is the fix applied automatically or do I have to install it myself? I did see something updating when I turned my computer on, but the email issue is still there.

I run Thunderbird.

Well if you're getting:

The mail server responded: You are not authorized to send mail as <eric@mindplaces.com>.

That's from the mail server. Why are you not authorized? Are you using SSL and it's now turned off?

Try clearing the SSL State in Internet Options.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Sounds like it's a server problem. There are a lot of people in my area reporting the same thing.

Yeah, I can still use my yahoo and work email, so it's not a huge inconvenience. Luckily I got the last vocal lines before receiving email went down too.

So....anyone aware of a new Win7 update that is breaking root certificates? I'm having this same problem again.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
