  1. Wow, thank you for the kind comments everyone, I'm beyond words! And thanks for the walkthrough video @Cambridge Spy, very nice! I've edited the original post to include some helps and hints for those of you trying to hunt down those elusive secrets. Some of them are tricky, just be glad that my wonderful beta testers reigned me a little on not making those secrets too difficult I'm so glad the storm upstairs was so well received! I spent a fair bit of time very early on in the design getting that thunderstorm put together. It's still in the early phases as far as what to build next. Certainly we'll get some sequels for In Danger of Judgment in which we defeat (or get crushed by!) the dreadful Crushers gang. I've also got a document I wrote up back at the beginning of 2019 with all sorts of missions-in-embryo; that's actually where my ideas for In Danger of Judgment were pulled from, and I'm considering building out another one of those ideas into another 20-30 minute mission, particularly so I can get more practice doing decent outdoor scenes (you'll notice I very purposely avoided outdoors for this first mission ). Also, I've been a little out of the loop with work recently, anyone know if the mission download server is healthy again? If so, I'll have to go off and find the people that can help get this uploaded officially.

  2. Guys, don't pay to much attention to this stupid redistributable. If it does not install, it will not cause any problems. Unless you get immediate crash with a dialog box when you start TDM, simply ignore whatever the updater is saying about it. The redistributable packages should not collide and make conflicts. You can have many of them installed simultaneously. Sometimes installing a new one upgrades the previous one: in this case everything which worked with older redist should work with the newer redist too. I have already removed dependency of TDM on VCRedist package, and removed that dreadful "Installing VC Redist" step from updater. Nobody will ever have such problems any more.

  3. Hi there, A little late to the party. Thank you very, very much to all past and current contributors. I do not have the faintest idea about the massive work all the contributors put into TDM to make it was it is today. I never really understood how video game are being developed. Reading the tutorials and watching the vids from both Sotha and Springheel enabled me to do something I would not have imagined five years ago and with help from veteran contributors (especially grayman, ERH+ and Destined helped me a lot with technical problems) I was able to put out two missions. They are far from perfect, but, hey, I did it! (oh yeah!) 2019 provided us so far with great missions - among others there were Bienie's Precarious Position (it includes my new time all favourite intro area), ERH+'s unusual and creepy "Marsh of Rahena", Dragofer's latest marine mission (with stuning visuals!) and joebarnin's "Heart of Saint Mattis" (this one includes very appropriate allocation of the existing ambient sound files). Just recently krrg released his first mission (I did not even know the user name) and other forum members have made great progress with their WIPs. I just looked into the WIPs from my partners in crime Jedi_Wannabe and Amadeus. Both have spent a lot of time on their maps and the WIPs look already very good (some areas look IMO even fantastic). I can't wait to see the final results. Therefore let's hope for cool new missions from new and veteran contributors in the upcoming months! Jack

  4. Description: The venerated Judge Malffourt lives in a fine house in an immaculate neighborhood of Bridgeport. But rumors have been spreading about Malffourt; something about a bribe? There is only one way to find out... Download Link: https://storage.googleapis.com/krrg-tdm/indangerofjudgment.pk4 Special Thanks to my beta testers for their great feedback! (Bienie, Cambridge Spy, Shadow, VanishedOne, acolyte6) Screenshots Helps and Hints: Author's Notes: This is my first ever fan mission, built over a period of ~6 months. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did building it!

  5. Yet the training mission (and I think options GUI) explicitly suggest users to set their own gamma/brightness. But what's more confusing for me personally, is why have non-linear gamma//brightness by default when you can simply adjust ambient light intensity for the same purpose without suffering these terrible side effects.

  6. Right. There was a great deal of FUD around normal map compression early in the mod development. There are threads where devs and players mistook the lowest quality normal map compression with the highest. There are threads where devs and players found their drivers didn't support one or another normal map compression form. I think it wasn't until 3yrs ago that we became aware that our "image_useNormalCompression" is forcing conversion to normal map compression rather than optionally using pre-compressed normal maps when available. RGTC will improve image quality and lower texture memory consumption.

  7. It is possible to make postprocessing work exactly as the old gamma correction. In fact, I won't be surprised if it is possible right now with proper values. There are so many variables.

  10. We seem to have just flown by the 10th anniversary of TDM's 1.0 public release, which was on Oct. 18, 2009. I didn't see any threads on it (were there any I missed?), and now it's like 2 weeks past. But it feels like it's important enough that it's worth acknowledging anyway. So, Happy 10th Birthday TDM! Here's to 10 more of our favorite game in the shadows. Huzzah! o/"

  11. A new Gondola for Neon's project. (NOTE the background map isn't related to it). Still kinda swamped with stuff to do (and other requests!) but least to say the Epi is still cranking models here and there.

  13. It already has lasted longer. Some people have been part of the TDM community since the start, and that was over 15 years ago.
