  1. Time for a new contest eh? This contest will almost be a speed build contest since we are shaving a few days off the typical 3 month span of a standard contest. TDM has no shortage of horror themed missions but since we missed the chance to have a Halloween contest this is a "gift" to the large contingent of TDM fans who enjoy some horror in their life. I wont go crazy with bonus points in this contest but there will be a few incentives... The overarching theme of this contest will be placing the player in dangerous locations. Having to climb down into elevator shafts, narrow caverns pits, etc to acquire loot or trigger objectives. This theme is meant to be paired with an incentive to use vine arrows to escape (etc). There is no hard requirement to adhere to this theme but players can judge your theme score using this concept as a baseline. Bonus incentives: 3 Perfect votes added for creative Vine Arrow usage 1 Perfect vote for creative Mine usage 1 Perfect vote for creative Flash-bomb usage 2 Perfect vote for EFX audio 1 Perfect vote for Subtitles 1 Perfect vote for adding Translation string support As with the previous contest, we may need to add a scaling factor if there is lower than expected participation from voters. Standard Contest Scoring: Total Points = (gameplay * 3) + (Appearance * 2) + (Story \ Theme * 1) Max Possible = Total Votes * 5 (Outstanding) Category Score (%) = Category Points /Max Possible * 100 Total Score (%) = Total Points /Total Max Possible * 100 The vote count was equal in all categories for everyone so: TotalMaxPointsPoss (TMP) = AllCategoryVotecount(ACV) * 30 Full Weighted Score (FWS) = (Gamescore*3 + Visualscore*2 + Storyscore) / TMP Pre-existing maps: The contest will be for newly created missions. Authors can use modular assets and prefabs and limited pre-made map sections. If you wish to use an existing WIP mission, you will need to declare this in your release thread and other participants will need to agree that your mission should be allowed to compete. Otherwise, if multiple authors with WIP missions decide to join we can create a separate scoring for those missions. The submission deadline will be Christmas Day ( but we can extend the deadline if all participants agree to the request. ) Please declare you intention to join in the fun!

  2. Sorry, I meant that package: libwxgtk3.0-dev There's usually only one wxgtk dev package in every package manager, so yes, that's the correct one. It should work fine though, so I can't tell you exactly why it's not linking. Maybe make clean and a full rebuild helps. I could recompile just fine in my Debian 10 machine, with all the aptitude stuff upgraded to the latest version (though I remember having to set the --allow-releaseinfo-change option when using apt-get update) Upgrading is probably a wise choice, but that's up to you.

  4. well seems my latest iteration of the patch managed to fix the buggers i had with gdk-pixbuf2 and ogre they now work just fine looks like parsing the acl's and setting permissions accordingly on the mutex was all that was needed, only seems to be a problem if using win10 so something tells me that they started getting serious about security features in the windows api.

  5. Is this to install Flatpak? To install Flatpak follow this guide: https://www.flatpak.org/setup/Debian See also: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=DarkRadiant_-_Flatpak_Installation_Guide Sorry if this is redundent info. I wasn't sure if you do it right. Sorry for derailing the topic.

  6. I have been an advocate for mission ratings a long time. I understand both sides of the coin of course, but the casual player likely prefers to just pick one of the best rated missions and start playing instead of reading through all the mission descriptions, potentially digging through forum entries to find a suitable mission. Things like average playtime, general mission type and player rating would be really helpful here. Or maybe instead of rating, something neutral like "number of times played / downloaded". I think that would be way too elaborate. How about rating on the mission finished screen?

  7. My top 3: 1. A House of Locked Secret (near perfection that one) 2. Volta 2 3. Written in Stone Honorable mentions: Northdale Act 1 and 2, Volta 1, Requiem, Snowed Inn, Crucible of Omens. Especially in the last 7 or 8 years, there have been a lot of excellent missions. Still have to play Iris, and, I'm really looking forward to it, if it's so mighly regarded here.

  10. Well you already got 20 recommendations, but one thing you can do is just go to the downloader and hit missions that have a large file size. Those tend to have more custom assets, etc., and tend to be grander in scale.

  11. The training mission. Nah but seriously (or am I being serious?) the quality of missions these days is really quite high and there's plenty of missions that make great use of modern TDM features by veteran mappers. That said, I personally have a fondness for Moonbo's two FMs (Requiem, A House of Locked Secrets) and always enjoy replaying them due to their grand scale, great music choices and intriguing stories/settings.

  12. Top 5 mission votes thread: See this wiki: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Mission_recommendation_discussions I would say that all of Moonbo's missions are essential, all Kingsal missions, all Melan missions, all Grayman missions, Goldwell's Accountant series and Northdale series, The Painter's Wife, Behind Closed Doors, Iris, No Honor Among Thieves, Langhorne Lodge, Mandrasola, The Golden Skull, Sir Talbot's Collateral, Noble Affairs, Written in Stone, King of Diamonds, Down by the Riverside, A Score to Settle, Heart of Lone Salvation, Lords and Legacy, Swing, Patently Dangerous, King of the Mountain, Living Expenses, Flakebridge Monastery, Betrayal Many would say all of Sotha's "Thomas Porter" missions, though these are very difficult / challenging so there is a little controversy about that.
