Apart from the automatic updates, you not only can turn these things off, but it's the first thing which comes up when you set up your computer account. In my opinion, most people who are scared of all these things are people which don't set up and configure their computer properly, people not knowing exactly what is going on on the machine. You just have to dig a bit in the settings, and you can figure most things out. Most privacy related things are their for your own comnfort anywa...

You shouldn't NEED to turn off Ad ID though. It is not the purpose of an operating system to make it easier for advertisers to track you. Also, they do not listen to users *at all*. The major issues with Windows on a tablet are still not fixed, like pinch-zooming and easy keyboard use in desktop mode. If we let them get away with this, they will turn the PC into the next XBOX Live; You must pay for it, AND there are ads everywhere.
