Kingdom is free on Humble Store. You can activate a cd-key on Steam. https://www.humblebundle.com/store/kingdom-classic-free-game#checkout-section
  2. If angels are tainted, then the devil is not so bad. EA and Konami weren't that bad all along. At the end of the day there are good people everywhere. But the big boss decides what's good for profit anyway. The bigger the profit and team - the more exploitation. Only indies and open source projects are truly free of this temptation. Even long time companies with good reputation such as Ice-Pick Lodge can have some faulty communication. Most glaring example can be their Kickstarter projects. Most famously Knock-Knock and Pathologic 2 had some downsides after, apparently, not crunching. All that resulting in endless delays. So, I don't know what's better. If we polarize, the other extremity is development hell. As a consequence, AFAIK Ice-Pick Lodge might have had some staff layoffs after Pathologic 2 - only 1/3'rd of the game was released with the promise of more. Game dev is always about compromise after all.
  3. Same with international organizations and CSO's. They smell your insecurities and they use every weakness to pay their employees as little as possible. Confidential wages should be a crime.

  5. Recently came out about T:TDP https://www.escapistmagazine.com/v2/how-thief-helped-pioneer-the-new-weird-genre/

  7. Indeed, and I admire how the ambient soundtrack contains references to Silent Hill through some stock sound effects. Arguably the lack of enemies is somewhat dated because today there are mods to combine T:DS levels that were split up. So, now it's possible to have the undead insane asylum inmate puppets hunt you right down to the first level of the building.
  8. A co-op like in Portal 2 with splitscreen would be awesome.
  9. Indeed our personal data is sold to companies, it becomes a source of profit. It's evil. It is largely grounded on the lack of any protection of personal data in the US - that makes this possible, with some exceptions in California. Read more in Edward Snowden's book Permanent Record on the subject-matter: http://gen.lib.rus.ec/book/index.php?md5=9B965019FD56CEBB08F6723FEE806AFF
  10. I use Adblock. If something annoying isn't blocked I block that element manually. Especially on hostile sites, that still contain info I need.
  11. I don't know. Like all SH it had epic music in the soundtrack.
  12. Konami found its heart and agreed to release Silent Hill 4 on GOG. https://www.gog.com/game/silent_hill_4_the_room Can't say if the port is any good though. My experience with Play Station ported games on PC consisted of finger breaking keyboard controls
  13. Remember that when North and South Korea were created, none of them were paradise to begin with. Just like Taiwan, South Korea had its fair share of dictatorship albeit not for 40 years but only for a decade. Same abuses like in Communist China or North Korea. Except China and North Korea were and remain dictatorships while the latter were nationalistic dictatorships. Fortunately the tide has changed. The point is, democracy is not to be taken for granted. Bombs and wars only help to justify bloody senseless violence. Whether in the name of the war of terror against terrorists or anything else like that.
  14. So much fear of China, yet they are notorious for failing almost every big war in history. The latest military conflicts China is involved in are some minor local skirmishes with neighbors over small plots of lands. Child's play compared to the megatons upon megatons of innocents suffering from bomb drops in backwater countries thanks to drone strikes, targeted killings and extraordinary renditions all over the world. This pandemic only confirms that even in civilized countries everybody is left to die alone.
  15. Dissenting illegal migrants are overlooked. "Exporting" democracy is unrealistic against a nuclear power. Merely reporting on Uyghurs without accepting more refugees is nothing more than a propaganda political stunt. Nothing in common with human rights. Too bad Western countries adopted the "ostrich head in the sand" approach when it comes to immigrant policies. American and Australian policies are particularly evil. Evil prevails.

  17. Well, if NATO didn't bomb countries with oil and gas they would have had infinitely more credibility in expressing "thoughts and prayers" on such topics.
  18. I used to think so but then I understood that this strictly a business affair. They created Bin Laden's success. But the mujaheddin were dispensable from the start. Bin Laden probably has 20 more vengeful sons who will be just as good as him if not better. Violence begets violence. Terrorist attacks will and must continue. Nobody can't stop this anymore. Sadly humanity keeps finding new ways of bringing more misery onto itself. Every new civilization does everything to destroy all evidence of the last one. Regardless if these people wage jihad or seek new petrodollar and gas businesses under the pretense of democracy. Oh there's a dictator in Belarus you say? We are deeply concerned. Thoughts and prayers. Not enough oil and gas to bomb you - too bad. They all have blood on their hands.
  19. Oh wow I thought you were dead. Welcome back.
  20. Maybe this is good news for cheaper mobile devices: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-arm-holdings-m-a-nvidia/nvidia-nears-deal-to-buy-chip-designer-arm-for-more-than-40-billion-sources-say-idUSKBN2630UE
  21. I think the best example is Operation Flashpoint, ArmA body animations. Both in third person and in first person they are very clunky. AFAIK it's still clunky in ArmA 3 despite working on a new engine. Try climbing a ladder in those games and then returning to shooting in Close Quarter Combat. Same applies to Thief Deadly Shadows. I liked the body awareness but it was buggy and ladder climbing, mantling, jumping sometimes glitched out. Original Thief 1, 2, System Shock 2 had more fluid controls. TLDR I think TDM should not consume precious human resources for a marginally cool looking gimmick. If body awareness was that important to everybody, everyone would have bought VR and play Half-Life Alyx. But they don't. It's still a thing for minorities. Until VR becomes more than something experimental, none of this is a priority. Not important to go all the way to the end with respect of this issue.
