    The power supply on my monitor started arcing, and now my graphics card puts pretty red sparkles all over everything.

      Another time while we were fixing laptops, a user brought us a laptop with an AC adapter where the case was badly charred and deformed. It looked like it melted. My thought was "holy shit, were you actually using this thing?" lol

      @Bikerdude: Regarding the surge protector, isn't that default. At least seams to be here in germany if I'm right.
