  1. tdm_installer_XXX.log files .zipsync/lastscan.ini manifest.iniz Says it's too big to attach here can I mail it to you ? condump (open game console with tilde and execute "condump qq")
  2. Okidoki, downloaded the installer & extracted tdm_installer.linux64 to /home/darkmod, it wasn't marked as executable so I changed it's permissions Slight correction it's actually /home/karen/darkmod, files just shows it as Home/darkmod Properties for /home/karen are drwxr-xr-x Properties for /home/karen/darkmod are drwxr-xr-x Double clicked it & got a very nice GUI front end, clicked OK without touching anything else, the text indicated 2.09a was being installed Had a look at the tdm_installer log file once it finished, no errors that I could see "Closing installer after successful install" is the last line. I can upload the log if you need it tdm_update seems to have been deleted by the installer Ran TDM, the screen resolution had reset to 800x600 at 4:3 resolution so I reset that, front screen still says version "2.09/64", installer log file says "release209a" Set up "Living expenses" & "The Painters Wife" for download & told it to go do it "Living expenses" was downloaded & TDM crashed to desktop without attempting "The Painters Wife" Looking in the fms folder there's a "living_expenses.pk4" file, this seems to be OK, I can open it & see the contents Rerunning TDM & selecting "new mission" I get the in game pop up saying "Living expenses" is available as a new mission Exiting TDM & looking at the fm's folder "living_expenses.pk4" appears to have been installed in a "living_expenses" subfolder "living_expenses" seems to play OK Just in case it's a hangover from an earlier install/update I would have no issue wiping the entire TDM installation & restarting from scratch if that would help
  3. Sorry for the delay, real life got in the way The darkmod folder is /home/darkmod the owner is me, permissions say I can create & delete files in it, group is my username, permissions say I can access files, everyone else can access files TDM was installed by downloading tdm_installer.linux64.zip to the darkmod folder, extracting & running the installer, since then I've run tdm_update.linux64 a couple of times to keep up to date, the last time was on 11th August I've not noticed this issue for a few months because again real life got in the way & I haven't played for a few months **EDIT** - there is no tdm_installer so I couldn't run it, should I download again ? **EDIT** Just ran tdm_update.linux64 again, one update - newjob.pk4, TDM still seems to be 2.09/64 and my memory just blanked as I can't remember where I found the revision number but I'm guessing that hasn't changed either Started TDM, downloaded "Hare in the Snare", crashed to desktop when it completed downloading, download appears to be OK though Guys, if this is going to be fixed in a later update I can live with it until then, don't let me divert you from important stuff, it's not a showstopper
  4. Hi all I'm running TDM 2.09/64 code rev 9108 on a Zorin 15.3 64 bit (Ubuntu fork) system ( 7.7Gb, Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz × 8, Quadro K600/PCIe/SSE2) When I download a new mission with the built in downloader, TDM either hangs or crashes to desktop when I get to 100% The missions appear to download OK, I can read all the text files & the PK4's open & dl'd missions play OK, not spotted any new log files or dumps is there anything I can enable that would give you more info ?
  5. I didn't really know Grayman apart from his missions, which were excellent. RIP sir
  6. https://www.theregister.com/2021/05/13/nhs_data_grab/ They quietly slipped this out after the Queens speech to minimise publicity, as they found with care.data the more people know about it the more opt outs they get If you decide to opt out, you have weeks to do so, after that it's too late If this was for your benefit the Government would be shouting it from the rooftops, they aren't This one is worse that the scrapped care.data scheme they tried, as it takes everything, even sensitive data care.data didn't touch Now you can argue about this all you like, I won't be responding, I've told you it's happening, it's your data, your choice & your decision
  7. I can't remember if I voted in this, possibly because I'm in the 61-70 group
  8. You could add one @jaxa
  9. TDM is in El Reg https://www.theregister.com/2020/12/26/linux_game_development_scene/
  10. If you want to see where the loot is, use the console & bind tdm_show_loot to a spare key bind "/" "tdm_show_loot" for example If you're feeling frustrated by a loot requirement & just can't see it no matter what or you're feeling bone idle & "want all teh lootz just coz" use it, if you aren't or you want bragging rights don't At the end of the day, it's a game, play it how you like
  11. Firefox has a reader view option for a lot of pages, I've found it gets rid of the "accept cookie" popups & nearly all the ads The display is a bit basic but it's good enough for what I want You can also prepend "about:reader?url=" to url's, you may need to encode the URL like PHPs urlencode though Just tried appending it to the URL for the forum & it works, the page doesn't look like a forum any more
  12. Cheap & cheerful way to block ads, NB this may break some sites, but if people want to serve ads to me they can host them & take 100% responsibility for the content as far as I'm concerned Add the adserver to your hosts file with a 127.0.0.1 address I added the following to mine, over the years 127.0.0.1 s.flite.com 127.0.0.1 clk.atdmt.com 127.0.0.1 view.atdmt.com 127.0.0.1 ads1.msn.com 127.0.0.1 spe.atdmt.com 127.0.0.1 mir.atdmt.com 127.0.0.1 ad.uk.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 googleads.g.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 bnmgr.adinjector.net 127.0.0.1 adserver.adtech.de 127.0.0.1 adlog.com.com 127.0.0.1 ads.userfriendly.org 127.0.0.1 servedby.advertising.com 127.0.0.1 ad2.adecn.com 127.0.0.1 www.favourite.com 127.0.0.1 openads.zeads.com 127.0.0.1 openx.zeads.com 127.0.0.1 clkgb.tradedoubler.com 127.0.0.1 imp.tradedoubler.com 127.0.0.1 www.affiliatewindow.com 127.0.0.1 www.kevinsmoneytree.org 127.0.0.1 optimized-by.rubiconproject.com 127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com 127.0.0.1 content.yieldmanager.com 127.0.0.1 ads.bluelithium.com 127.0.0.1 www.smartadserver.com 127.0.0.1 s0.2mdn.net 127.0.0.1 bannerfarm.ace.advertising.com 127.0.0.1 delivery.sid-ads.com 127.0.0.1 c5.zedo.com 127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com 127.0.0.1 ads2.adbrite.com 127.0.0.1 cdn.flashtalking.com 127.0.0.1 adfarm.mediaplex.com 127.0.0.1 w.visualdna.com 127.0.0.1 ultimatecleaner.biz 127.0.0.1 lvhook.biz 127.0.0.1 bs.serving-sys.com 127.0.0.1 revsci.net 127.0.0.1 m.webtrends.com 127.0.0.1 revsci.net 127.0.0.1 player.ooyala.com
  13. Open a thread in the tech support forum they'll probably need a copy of your dromed.cfg & system details too They improved my issue massively but I don't know if it's a 'one size fits all' solution
  14. Yeah the k600 is more of a design card, however it's played every TDM mission up to this one without complaining including The Painters Wife
  15. @nbohr1more Thank you I made the changes you suggested & I'm getting around 30 fps, it seems a lot smoother, thanks for the help, I think you can regard this as sorted, if I get any more issues I think really I'd need to look at getting a new graphics card @stgatilov I started the game from the beginning & I was getting 8-10 fps from the opening scene, noclipped to the same location and still got the same figures, so I'm not surprised I was getting headaches, I'm quite surprised I got as far as I did tbh, the tweaks from nbohr1more have helped a lot though, I'll probably start this one again now as it's a lot smoother @AluminumHaste I bought this system a few years ago primarily as a work machine for DB & web work as I had bills to pay & my previous system just upped & died on me, if it played games that would be a bonus but at the time it wasn't a consideration The tweaks from nbohr1more have helped tremendously & as I mentioned above if I get any more issues I'm seriously going to have to look at getting another graphics card but just at the moment, with everything that's going on in the UK, any spare cash I have is kinda spoken for, but I'd rather not bore you guys with that, that's my problem So thanks to all of you for having a look at this for me, it's much appreciated
  16. I asked this over in the game thread & @nbohr1more advised me to open a new thread in here & post my darkmod.cfg Spoilers are where I'm describing in game scenes I got the console up & typed in "com_showfps 1", the number at top right varies between 8 & 12 fps depending on where I'm looking I went to the game settings menu & went through every video & advanced setting but nothing changed the framerate, it persistently stuck between 8 & 12 fps My system info : Dell Precision T1700 CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz × 8 Graphics: Quadro K600/PCIe/SSE2 Ram: 8Gb OS: Zorin 15.3, 64 bit Darkmod.cfg is attached Darkmod.cfg
  17. Anyone else getting performance issues with this, loving the game but the framerate is making it very difficult to play, I'm getting headaches with the screen stuttering I got the console up & typed in "com_showfps 1", the number at top right varies between 8 & 12 fps depending on where I'm looking I went to the game settings menu & went through every video & advanced setting but nothing changed the framerate, it persistently stuck between 8 & 12 fps, any suggestions ? My system info : CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz × 8 Graphics: Quadro K600/PCIe/SSE2 Ram: 8Gb OS: Zorin 15.3, 64 bit
  18. Hi @Darkness_Falls & @stgatilov I edited the Darkmod.cfg to change r_ambientGamma, that seemed to sort it out
  19. Try having a look at www.planetrock.com, they organised a virtual gig "Rocks The Asylum" at the weekend with Those Damn Crows, Stone Broken and Massive Wagons, may be doing more in future Not the same as actually being there but it keeps things going until we can, support staff don't die on their ass for lack of being paid for a start If you listen to the radio bit I should warn you it's a bit ad heavy
  20. I just have to say thanks for this monumental piece of work I've managed to complete most of my objectives but really I'm just wandering around looking at things with my mouth open, I spent most of the weekend in here, my OH is beginning to forget what I look like
  21. Hi, these are my SSAO settings from the cfg file seta r_ssao_edgesharpness "1" seta r_ssao_base "0.1" seta r_ssao_intensity "1.0" seta r_ssao_bias "0.05" seta r_ssao_radius "32" seta r_ssao "0" I'm guessing the last one means SSAO isn't enabled I set r_ambientGamma to 1.5 which improved things, so I upped it to 2.0, now underwater is murky but I can see I can play with this, thanks for the help
  22. Hi all, Just updated my linux version of TDM to 2.08 & tried a new mission for 'Air Pocket" First thing I noticed was things were darker than I normally have them set so I tweaked the gamma & brightness & that's fine But as soon as I go underwater visibility drops to almost zero, I resorted to turning brightness & gamma to the max & even used the lamp but even then I could only just make out my surroundings, object highlight is barely visible and as soon as I stick my head out of water everything is waaaaaay too bright Is there any setting in the cfg file I can tweak to change this, I could see OK underwater OK when I used 2.07 System info Zorin OS 15.2 64 bit (Ubuntu variant), 7.7Gb Ram, Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz × 8, Quadro K600/PCIe/SSE2 Graphics TDM is the 64 bit linux distro
