  2. Hi everyone I am new and I been wanting to try this demo out. the only problems I have is what you see in the pictures. The short I can copy the +set fs_game thiefs_den only after the " <-- quotation marks. it will not allow me to copy within without giving me a error. I did do the instructions exactly as in copy the file in windows/system32 folder un my Vista 64. I even copyed the dev.dll file in the doom directory. I am stumped even after installing the new patch. The game ran fine till I installed the thief den demo. I attached 2 picture files if they don't work I will try them in image shack with a follow up. Just click on the image to enlarge. I need some advice anyone know what this could be? Thanks
  3. Been a few busy weeks working on this, learning scripting... It's early yet and alot of stuff needs done, The artwork will get better but I had to hammer a bunch of stuff so I had something to work with. Figure it's better for me to get the scripting working first, then worry about the art. You get points for destruction too, but killing civilians detracts points. Maybe get points for beam-up specimens. recent work: Implemented multiple collision/explosion types. fixed collision with player/terrain score hud implemented adjusted camera To Do List: Ah, it's too long of a list to mention... Possible:Let player get out and play 3rd person Feedback is always welcome.
  4. It has always seemed dumb to have to configure a gamepad/joystick for every single game you want to play. Why not make the right-stick control your mouse, and the left control WASD? You can also assign other keys on the joypad to whatever keys/mouse buttons you like. I accomplished this by installing the xserver-xorg-input-joystick package. You'll get a default configuration that is less than optimal, so we'll customize it. Do not customize /etc/X11/xorg.conf! If you have a section in there that references /dev/input/js0 and your joystick is not plugged in when X starts, it will fail to start. Instead, look to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-joystick.conf. This file stores the configuration for the driver. Setting it up isn't as easy as it could be. You need to know the keycodes for the events you want to bind, along with the names of the buttons on your gamepad. You can find the names of the keys on your keyboard by looking in the keycode at /usr/share/X11/xkb/keycodes. To get the name of a given button when you press it on the gamepad, install and use jstest. What follows is my /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-joystick.conf file. Your face buttons are mouse 1,2,c and e (I think). Your L3 and R3 are q and r for leaning. Your L1/2/R1/2 buttons are Control, F, Mouse 1, and something which I forgot. Your start and select are escape and tab, for showing the objectives and pausing the game. It took me a few hours to get all this crap working well, so perhaps it will help someone.Now we have a tiny driver that runs in the background and enables all of this on the fly. No bloated software required!
  5. Hey guys. The forums have been successfully upgraded, although it took longer than I thought due to some extensive mysql queries that had to be run. This version of IPB is the newest, and it includes changes, new features and more. Please have a look around! IMPORTANT: Since a lot of the client-script files have been updated it is mandatory to empty your cached files from this forum. You can either empty your browser cache if you want to (check the settings), or you can do a hard refresh (this is usually done by holding the Ctrl-button while you hit 'Refresh'). Yes, the skin is currently toe default IPB skin, but this will be changed ASAP. It takes some time to update the changes in the original darkmod-skin, so please be patient. If you spot anything out of order (e.g. bugs) or you have suggestions or general feedback, please use this thread. Because of a new CAPTCHA (Completely Automatic Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart) system introduced in this version, I have now disabled the manual validation process of new members.   6. I was experiencing hardlockups sometimes, so i changed the affinity of the wine process to 1 processor only in the hope that it could solve it. It could be one of any: doom3, darkmod, mission or wine itself. So i played some more and didn't experience any crash, until now... Luckily (?) just after saving. The mission is beleaguered fence. Reloading crashes almost immediatly here. (1 second) I zipped almost all of the things in the mission folder except the mission itself, in the hope it is useful to you: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=978U2PK0 Hope it helps finding a bug.

When I look at this game and it's community I can't help thinking about the dark mod. Remember this 8 year long project when ever you start to take for granted this great mod and the great community that goes with it. But aside from that, i, personally empathetic for it given similarities. I'm signing the petition for them to continue development. If you feel the same way you can visit the petition HERE
  8. I've had this happen a few different times. I'll add a new statue or make some brushes func_static, later I'll try to dmap and it will quit with an error something about more than one item with the same name. I check my entity list, and I see the new item I added is called "func_static_1" whereas I've long ago already had a func_static_1. It will count up the count (func_static_2) as I add more even though I already have all those. It gives me headaches! I just want to know if this is known already, and if not I'll add to bugtracker and try to see how to replicate it reliably

  13. So I'm working on a mission that will require some in-game alterations to an inventory object. Specifically, I want one of the objectives to say something along the lines of "Read this letter, then find a way to re-seal it so no one knows you opened it." Any suggestions on what might be the easiest way to contrive such an event? I'm not looking for anything especially complex -- maybe just make the player find a candle and "use" it on the letter (to apply a wax seal), preferably with a change in the object's appearance from a page of paper to a closed envelope. (Do we have models for closed envelopes? Don't remember seeing any.) Thanks!
  14. when i try to open the editor i get a message error. Dont know whats wrong really i reinstall the computer because of a problem that i had with the game could not load the mod, that problem did not disappear and now i get this from darkradiant.

  17. hello, i am new on this board but i am a fan since thief 1. When i see this announce, i was happy to retry experience. i install doom3, patch 1.31, darkmod and copy dll into system32 & doom3 root folder. I do the shorcut and finnaly i launch the game but i have 2 errors if you don't understand last screenshot, it is in French language. Have you got an issue to resolv that ?   18. I'm trying to finish my contest mission and it's a very "platformy" map which will certainly lead to lots of falling deaths and subsequent quickloading. I'm trying to get a feel for whether this will be acceptable due to quickloading being pretty fast (it is for me), or whether I really need to take the time to try to script in some sort of non-death auto-resurrection thing like the training mission did. This is a separate issue from whether you dislike that style of mission (I know some of you will hate it! But some will really enjoy it!)
  19. Hey, I'm setting up the mod, and dark radiant. I try to run darkradiant as the tute says, but it fails to load with an error: "This application failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I tried reinstalling, I tried updating the mod again, but it still doesn't work. Anyone got this dll file?   20. I added two AI a guard and a thug. I made some patrol points and attached them to the thug. They are both on my team and the guard just sits there. I didn't give them a head as I'm assuming that they all have a default head. But when I run the map, the AI aren't there, and in the console there are just id:render errors with NULL exceptions for ANIM I think. Didn't save the text sorry. Do the AI's that come with the demo work completely or do I have to use only certain ones?

I see Nightstroll has posted the same HERE but Nightstroll can post by trying to post and when asked for user/password it works. But that don't work for me so I can't post at all. Anyone else? Only other thing I can think of trying is set up a new user name. Think I'll wait a day or so....
