  1. I haven't been around too much recently, but when I do look into the forums every so often, I am always amazed how much progress is being made on the mod. Great work people!

I wish there was a way we could play against each other on line.

      Neat, but a gimmick.

True but its Chess meets Thief! The best gimmick ever!

  2. Does anybody else have this problem? In the (European) evenings the forum is unbearable slow. The server is delivering about 8Kbyte/s, sometimes less and usually stops midwhere during loading the page. Sometimes you can't even get the index page, sometimes you can log in, but then only get half of the overview etc. In the mornings everything is snappy.

I never got into BSD, though I've installed it once or twice. This is another reason to check it out.

The BSD's arn't for everyone, but within their goals, simple code and mailing lists lies a lot of goodness and simplicity. I love the underdogs. Anyhoo work will be Linux friendly too. Portability is a cornerstone for good code.

(We can leave the thread for journalism corruption, but just on this...) Then the issue in academia is money flowing to the more corruptable fields like science & engineering with the big corporate grants & revolving door with staff. The humanities might not get that, but OTOH they are getting pressured to "justify their existence" financially. I could probably agree it's rife in almost any human field though, as long as there are incentives there will be corruption.

Or then we have the "uncorruptable" critical academics, but then they're basing their work on Derrida or Marx and are so detached from reality they throw their credibility out the window. It's good to be critically detached, not so good to be derailed from reality. My position in law sometimes is something like a critical realism, but it's practically an orphan position. (You want to protect victims *and* think science works??? Wha...?)

Who is uncorruptable anyways? I cannot convince even myself that I would be uncorruptable in every situation. And I perceive myself to be situated in the more-reliable-than-50%-of-the-general-population side in the gaussian distribution curve of corruption. Problematic, yes?

  3. For the last 1-2 weeks the forums have been really slow and unresponsive for me, when I type a post half the time it just sits there etc.. is anyone else having the same issues..?
  4. I wonder if v1.08 would run "standalone" if end-users copied pk4 data from the Doom 3 demo. Nobody could officially condone it but players might get to try TDM without downloading anything illegal...

Using the demo00.pk4 won't work - it might bring a missing few resources, but missions using skeletons or undead will still crash. Nice idea, tho.

      Pretty cool find rebb!

@Tels, yeah it was a long shot but I thought there were Zombies in the demo (but probably not the ones TDM uses which probably are from the Hell stages).

Strangely enough his wordpress site doesn't seem to link to this, but it also comes up in the google search : http://silk.cghub.com/

I'm using the CD with TG, T2 and T3 on it. Darkloader doesn't like it. I can't get TG FMs to work

It will be really cool if a super talented editor like Gaetane will try TDM.

  9. Yes, you are still viewing The Dark Mod Forums I've just finished the upgrade of our IPB Board Forums to the latest release. Packed with new features, rewritten code and all that. Have a look around. The skin is currently the default one, but will sooner or later be converted to a darker skin, to fit the Dark Mod universe. Also note that the forums have been moved from http://modetwo.net/darkmod to it's own sub-domain: http://forums.thedarkmod.com - all forum links will still work tho, thanks to Apache's rewrite-plugin. Please report any bugs, requests and comments in this thread. PS: The forums will run a bit slow the first hours as the cache is being rebuilt.
  10. So... What was up with the forums all day yesterday..?

  13. Hi ! I noticed a minor (?) issue. Not sure if this might affect someone at all or not. But I thought I bring it to attention anyway. After running tdm_update (on Windows) I noticed that tdm_game02.pk4 is corrupt. All other files are OK. I know that this file is for Linux only, but maybe some people might be affected when copying the updated DarkMod files to a Linux system ? Maybe this is just a theoretical issue ... I don't know. Ok, this is what I did : I had TDM 1.0.4 installed. I ran a archive test on the pk4 files and got this for the archive in question. E:\Games\Doom3-TDM\darkmod>C:\Programme\7-Zip\7z.exe t tdm_game02.pk4 7-Zip 9.20 Copyright © 1999-2010 Igor Pavlov 2010-11-18 Processing archive: tdm_game02.pk4 Testing gamex86.so Testing binary.conf Everything is Ok Files: 2 Size: 8866185 Compressed: 3554540 So everything was OK (and the archive was not in use by any process either). Then I ran tdm_update (to upgrade to version 1.0.5), which reported no error and checked the archive again. This time I got : E:\Games\Doom3-TDM\darkmod>C:\Programme\7-Zip\7z.exe t tdm_game02.pk4 7-Zip 9.20 Copyright © 1999-2010 Igor Pavlov 2010-11-18 Processing archive: tdm_game02.pk4 Testing binary.conf Data Error Testing gamex86.so Sub items Errors: 1 The issue can be solved by deleting tdm_game02.pk4 and running the updater again, which will retrieve the entire file. When upgrading from 1.0.3 to 1.0.4 I had noticed the same issue already. Thanks !
  14. Hello!

I saw on TDM forums that you are a very talented level designer. Could you lend your talents for The Sly Project? (http://tsp.comlu.com)

We have no level designers yet and the project was announced almost a year ago. Please join us! I'm looking forward to your answer friend.

    Best wishes: Oszkár Winkler
