  1. Am I mad or was there a fan campaign for Thief Gold in the style of T2X? I thought it was just called The Circle but that keeps brining up a Thief 2 campaign.

But just a heads up - when the HD patch for TG comes out, it will be like playing a new game :-)

Oh OK - I must have gotten my wires crossed. Trying to dredge up PC Gamer mod news in my mind from 10 years ago.

The three campaigns were T2X, Cosas, & HI.

      Anyway, it's not in Thiefmission's list. http://thiefmissions.com/search.cgi?search=+game=tgold&sort=release#m

  2. I miss the brown borders dividing up the sub forums. This great big block of grey looks ugly.

  3. When trying to download new missions, I get an error message stating that I'm out of disk space or write protected. (Both desktop and laptop) Neither of which is true. Running win 7 pro and TDM 1.08. Can anyone help me here please? Since posting this, it has become apparant that only the lich queens demise and the builders blocks are not able to download. The problem is not at this end...... I downloaded from the TDM webpage okay (I think) The problem is when I tried to download within TDM using the auto download feature.
  4. So... What was up with the forums all day yesterday..?
  5. Including the training mission, most of them just return to the objectives screen after the loading bar is full or just hang on the load screen. St Lucia on the other hand says to press "Attack" to start, which is Left Mouse button but nothing happens. Tried pressing all the keys and nothing happens. So far this is just fancy front end where nothing happens. 6. [edit]Please note that this version of Return to the City has been superseded by an expanded and significantly performance-optimised rerelease, available here. However, I'd appreciate if some of these download links were left around so people can check out the original version if they wish.[/edit] Hello, Taffers! My FM for the Grand Christmas FM Contest, Return to the City, has been completed and available at TTLG (updated Hammers-into-Builders version) www.darklurker.com (updated Hammers-into-Builders version) www.uploading.com (Hammers-into-Builders update) www.mediafire.com (Hammers-into-Builders update) www.mediafire.com (second link - thanks, Vexd) (Hammers-into-Builders update) www.sharebee.com (thanks, Chiron!) (Hammers-into-Builders update) Have fun, and please read the release notes, below! (Especially point 1) Last but definitely not least, thanks are due to my beta testers, who have been very helpful in finding and fixing the bugs that have cropped up, as well as everyone on the TDM forums for their help and support. Thank you! Series information: All of my missions except Unbidden Guest (TMA) take place in a common setting and involve the same protagonist, although under different aliases - Talbot, Messer Johannes, Philby and others. None of them require previous knowledge of previous FMs, but there are common elements and a degree of continuity. The missions, in current order, are: Prowler of the Dark (TDP/Gold) (S): liberate a skull of paganic enchantment from an abandoned church, which is kept sealed and guarded by the Builders.Return to the City (The Dark Mod) (M): plunder the other side of the Builder complex to steal a pack of explosives. Patrols have been heightened because of the recent break-in. (This mission connects to the previous along the North/South axis - too bad I didn't have the time to let you revisit some old areas) (You are here!)Fiasco at Fauchard Street (The Dark Mod) (M): steal a collection of opals from the house of a wealthy usurer.Bad Debts (TMA) (XL): fallen on hard times, you take a job from a diminutive snitch to steal his letter of debt from Markus, a pawnshop owner/usurer (looks like a common theme). Rooftop extravaganza.Disorientation (TMA) (XL): following the events in the previous mission, you attract the unwanted attentions of Lady Azamlarg, district warden and judge, and have to break into her palace to deter her from further assassination attempts. More rooftops and conspiracies.
  7. Big fan of Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Just wanted to say that.

  8. 9. Write down the names of the FIVE missions that you think should be considered "The Worst TDM Missions"
  10. Hey everyone, I noticed that your mirrors are quite slow (I'm looking at you funfreegameshq.com). I still have a Strato Server with unlimited traffic lying around, which is idling most of the timen so I'd like to help with some bandwith. I also noticed that your distribution process is subpar, as it requires access to the server or manual intervention. My recommendation would be to setup an rsync server on the official server, with which the other servers can be synchronized automatically (every hour or so). As rsync detects change between files efficiently this would speed up the distribution and not cause more load. (Mirrors would be whitelisted by IP) This is also the recommended distribution process by the Debian distribution. If you would like me to I would look into adapting the debian mirror scripts. So we can use them for the distribution of the TDM files. This would provide additional benefits like pushing to mirrors and multistage sync. What do you think? Greetings
  11. Evening I've updated all the mission download page with the southquarter links (many thanks to Brethren for hosting) I did notice a few of the mission weren't mirrored on www.fidcal.com, can someone have a look through and tell me which mission are missing the fidcal.com link so I can upload the mission and add the link etc ta.

When this is released, you really should call it TDM 2.0. It is a significant upgrade from current TDM.

Yes, we're actually planning on doing that.

  16. Tested 35 missions in standalone so far. 17 of them are now complete or nearly complete.

  19. I've seen a lot of people debating on what makes a good fan mission and the opinions vary from what I've seen. I'm hoping that by the end of this topic the community can help establish some "golden guidelines" to make a good fan mission. So I ask, what makes a well executed fan mission?
  20. 5. Undercover I love Hammerites and I love cathedrals. Up until this point all we had seen of the Hammers was their factory and prison in Cragscleft. This mission introduced us to the Hammers in all their glory. I love the gregorian chants in the ambient music. I love their readables which describe their harsh religion and Ye Olde English they are written in. It's also a very nice change of pace to be able to walk around half of the cathedral without been attacked and just observe life as a Builder. T1 automatically gets bonus points over T2 for having more Builders. Screw the Mechanists. 4. The Sword. I just love how the wierdness of this mansion escalates as you go higher up the floors. The ground floor has a cool garden to explore and the rest is relatively normal bar a creepy coffin. Its the first floor when things really start to get creepy though. Upside down rooms, creepy stone faces, doors that lead to nowhere etc. The next floor though is just pure mayhem. Its like a jungle! We also have that cool fun house tunnel, the room that goes into space and the creepy laughing. If I had an unlimited amount of money and could build any home to live in this would be it! Speakers playing an infinite loop of creepy laughter and a Sword hanging by a non visable string too! 3. Life of the Party. its pretty much the Thieves Highway alone that makes it on to this list. Not that there's anything wrong with Angel Watch. Thats still good fun to break into but its the Thieves Highway that I think of when I think of T2. I just love having large areas to explore. Things that dont even relate to the story. I just love been allowed to go away and do my own thing whenever I want. The Theives highway was great for this. I think on my first playthrough I comletely forgot I was supposed to go to Angel Watch. I just didn't care. I just loved sneaking into buildings and jumping all over the place. I love the necromancers Tower and the fight with the archers. 2. The haunted Cathedral. A lot of people dont seem to like haunted missions. Apparently this was one of the reasons Looking Glass didn't make any for T2. Well I absolutely love them. While they do feel a bit Indiana Jones ish I think it makes perfect sense for a thief to go grave robbing in tombs or forgotten cities. Again in this you can just go and do your own thing and explore it any way that you like. That atmosphere is fantastic too. I remember stopping dead in my tracks everytime I heard a zombie groan. As a kid I was also terrified the first time I saw the haunts. The one thing I still cant work out to this day is why would you want to restore power to the city? Wouldn't you want to stay in the dark? 1. Down in the Boneheard This is the Thief mission that officially made me fall in love with the game. I was pretty much close after Cragscleft but this mission sealed it. You could probably swap this for my number 2 choice but this gets the number spot because I played it first. I dont think I've ever been as immersed in a game as much as in T1 and I've come to the conclusion that I probably never will and I think its due to missions like my last two choices. I love the sound of The Horn of Quintas, the traps in the Bonehard even the burrick tunnel maze with its trippy colours. I remember feeling slightly dissapointed when I got The Hotrn of Quintas because I knew that there was nothing left to do but leave.
  21. my first mission is finished, it is quite short, it (quite sucks) but i needed the intro in to the city and had to make alot of compromises, i had to rebuild it a few times and ran in to every problem the engine could have, i learned alot doing so,.. it will be a 5 or even 6 mission campaighn, released in loose missions, currently working at nr 2 wich is alot better, you will see it in a few weeks. nuked
  22. Hey so I have been working away on my FM and I am thinking about adding vocal narration during the mission at points here and there and I was just curious what you guys believe is a good level for such a thing. Would you like to hear comments about say the first time you enter a mansion or maybe seeing a piece of nice loot or seeing other interesting parts of the maps, maybe even making a comment after you overhear an in game dialogue. I have also considered the option to release a map with the narration in game and without. So what do you guys think about it?
  23. All of a sudden I get an error message saying I'm either out of disk space or I'm write protected. Neither is true. I haven't changed anything since my last download. Any clues? Running Win 7 pro TDM 1.08 Rich
  24. Hello!

I saw on TDM forums that you are a very talented level designer. Could you lend your talents for The Sly Project? (http://tsp.comlu.com)

We have no level designers yet and the project was announced almost a year ago. Please join us! I'm looking forward to your answer friend.
