  1. Hello, first time poster here , and I would like to start off by thanking in advance to everyone who has made this project possible. Now, onto my problem : I have always had a mild case of aracnophobia and I remember almost having a panic attack when I first saw "that" particular warehouse in The Metal Age (But I soldiered on...making it eventually the only Thief game I managed to finish so far). I have the problem under control ,more or less, right now but I still get too nervous when near a giant arachnid and I can't effectively creep past them since I always cut and run or try to kill them. My question is this : Is there any way to know which missions have spiders in them? I have tried the following link : http://forums.thedar...752#entry312752 But the mission "Alberic's curse" has one right off the start and it's not listed as having them so can I be reccomended any with 100% certainty that there are no spiders there? Thanks in advance for anyone reading there and I'm sorry if this message sounds too whiny or demanding.
  2. I just downloaded the mod via torrent, the source was from Pirate Bay. When I try to change any of the settings and restart the game for the settings to change it simply reverts back to the old saved settings. I decided to not worry about it and play the mod, so I chose a mission and the mod restarted back to the default mission. It seems as if nothing is being saved??? The mod was downloaded into the "Download" folder which is where I am running it from. What should I do?
  3. So something that flew over my head, while I was typing up my intro message, were textures. I can do textures; I have a small repository of resources that I can use to whip them up. I decided to go ahead and try my hand at making a few. First up is a square window; the original is 400% of the diamond_pattern01_lit_ed texture, but I had to resize the final product to 200% because of the file size. Hopefully it's HD and detailed enough for the quality of the Dark Mod missions you guys churn out. It hasn't been tested in-game, though, so if someone would like to play around with it and get back to me, that would be great. I will upload here with more ideas as I come up with them. If you use this particular window texture, add this credit line in a readme document packaged with the mission, or in your mission's credit roll: Extra Window by Asis Made with textures from http://www.mayang.com/textures/
  4. I tried to download "The Builders Blocks" just now (in game). When I entered the available Missions view it had downloaded "Crystal Grave v2.1" instead. Builders block is gone from the missions in the online mission archive. Crystal Grave is still there. When I check for more information (mission details) on Crystal Grave it gives me black screenshots.. Somethings off here me thinks... Enjoying the mod though, Cheers...

  5. Hello people, hearing that TDM was standalone i decided to get my sneak fix and well as you can guess, i nee some good "starter" missions to get me used to the game. So far i have grasped the basics have have compleated "Tears of st.lucia" almost entirely stealth minus a few slip ups, so if people could reccomend some good kinda long ish missions that dont need a master thief to finsh i would be a very happly little sneakthieft

  7. Will check and fix What problem is that? All the files from the DB links were uploaded to the mirrors, so i can only think you didnt remove all traces of said mission before redownloading them.

Saw this over on TTLG, looks like there has been an unofficial fan patch released for Thief 2, it fixes a whole big bunch of stuff, most notably fixes that allow T2 to work on more modern hardware, and brings all sorts of new capabilities to Dromed.   11. When running around the net trying to find avenues of promotion, I saw that someone tried to mention us in the "Horror Gaming" section of Reddit but was fairly well shot-down. I think The Dark Mod has a fair number of survival horror type game-play and now is the season when folks will be in the mood for that... I also think we have a good crossover audience with Amnesia and Penumbra fans (who have tons of posts in the Horror Gaming section). Without further ado, please post your Top 10 horror missions. These can be anything with a scary element even if the whole mission is not haunt or horror based. I will tabulate the results and make a Moddb feature article for this. Thanks, nbohr1more
  12. A comment on In the North got me wondering about something. What do experienced players look for in a map? I suppose beginners look for something short, AI they don't have to mix it up with, easy ways to get from A to B, loot that's not hard to find, no key hunts, easy jumps and mantling, short (or no) readables, blah blah blah. What do experienced players like? The opposite of the above things? Other aspects? I have (at least) 7 more missions to make. Curious minds want to know. Thanks.

      I plan to do a haunted manor FM once the final part of the Vengeance trilogy is complete. So maybe next years Halloween.

      I was going to, but siegeshop took up my time. Then I thought of upgrading my p.o.s. Samhain map, but decided to leave that quirky little mission alone. Next year, I suppose. Maybe an 'Garreth goes to Hel' type mission, inspired a bit by the game 'Rune', mixed with the strangeness of the "Constantine" mansion.

Hi guys o/ First of all a huge *thanks* for the large amount of time you've all spend with this project so I can now experience a proper thief (was really disapointed how you can escape a guard using the portals between areas in thief3) anway... Im not sure my question should be here (because its not off-topic actually ) Thing is back in the old days my mind was scarred after I find out that the dark project is not just - clear out the mansion of the rich people and steal their goods kind of a game, but some deep scary zombie magic stuff - I think i've got my first white hairs when I've heard: "Stay away from my face thief!" and run in panic in the zombie maze desperately looking for the horn of Quintus or when i read that book at the necromancer spire in Life of the Party... if there is a guinnes record about who can quickly press ESC when you hear the zombie's moaning - search no more! So in other words i admit that im a pussy scared of the undead elements so It will be really nice of you to recommend me some missions to download which are without any supernatural elements inside. Thanks o/

  19. While campaigns and epic sagas are wonderful, the truth is they tax the system and, often too, they can exhaust the player. At least this player. So, while I don't exactly want to discourage those more ambitious projects, I would like to encourage the creation of more tight little mission missions. More genuine heists, hits and hustles. A thief I love to be, mostly.
  20. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Another night, another fat noble stripped of his wealth. Or so it seemed. It appeared that destiny had other plans. I had stolen the Angel's Tear as planned. All that was left to do was get out of Eskil Vadris' Manor, which seemed easy enough. But before I could make my way out, an alarm went off and a group of City Watch guards attacked me. I was taken to the local City Watch complex and after a bit of a beating I was thrown into a cell. It is very unlikely for a master thief like me to get caught. Impossible, really. It's almost as if I was set up. Well, I'm not spending another second in this cell. I'm no common criminal. I'm a master of the shadows and whoever is responsible for putting me here should start to fear the dark. Thank you to my beta-testers: Grayman, Bikerdude, Nbohr1more, Ppoe and Xarg Special thanks to Bikerdude for help with improving performance and geneal tidying up in the city area. Plus bug fixing during beta-testing. Thank you to everyone who has helped me in the TDM Editors Guild. A special mention to Sotha and Grayman for their quick responses and never ending patience.
