  1. Hi guys, I am having trouble with the fan missions. I am running the dark mod in linux (ubuntu 10.04 64 bit) and I seem to have it installed properly. At least I can get to the menus with no problem. However I can't see the fan missions. I put the pk4 files in the fms folder as explained in the tutorial, but they do not show up when I get into the game. There seems to be no way to install them. Is this a known problem for linux? Is there a workaround?

  3. Just returned from a 7 day holiday, opened up this forum, had at least 4 pages of "new content". Made it past page 2 (to about June 03), and then had to take care of a few things here. When I came back, the forum had logged me out (timeout?), and when you log out, it forgets all "new content". So you log in, and it says "there is nothing new for you". Great, now I never know what I missed between May 30th and June 03.... grrrrrrrrr With email, you would still have all unread messages *sigh* Is there a way to change this behaviour? It has annoyed me in the past, but not as much as this time.. Edit: It's even worse, there is "no new content", but when I go f.i. into the "off topic" sub-forum, it still shows me threads as unread that I definitely already did read an hour ago. So I can't even just look at all the "unread" threads. Oh boy...

  5. When I was playing "Dragon's Claw" by Bikerdude I was immediately struck with a longing to play the exploration / horror level of "The Haunted Cathedral". It's the closest thing we have to that Thief level, in the same way that BadCog's "The Rift" is the closest tthing we have to a "The Lost City" level. It got me thinking, that Thief and Thief 2 created archetypes for what we expect from our FMs. Bafford Manor was an easy, straightforward loot-the-mansion mission, Assassins was a bait and switch where an objective in the briefing is quickly changed, Return to the Haunted Cathedral set up the strongest horror theme... Speaking for myself - I don't get excited about huge City missions like most people do. It's the Lost City, Down in the Bonehoard type tomb raiding, monster-around-the-next-corner thrill I've enjoyed most. Flakebridge Monastery therefore is my favourite mission by miles of all the FMs produced so far. === So I wonder - even if you are a FM maker and try to create what you want to play, what itch do you have that isn't being scratched at the moment? What kind of levels would you like to see in the future?

      Thief editing in general is winding down. That not enough people have transitioned to TDM instead of dropping out - that's the disappointment.

  11. Just read your post on TTLG comparing the vibrant Sotha missions with the "coasting" missions that are sought out by an ungrateful hardcore for the original Thief.

I just downloaed TDM, worked my way through the training, and have started playing my first mission (Tears of Saint Lucia), but I've run into a strange problem, and searching the forums doesn't seem to bring up anyone else having this issue: I run TDM, click on "New Mission," install the mission I want to play, and TDM restarts with the new mission installed. All that works correctly. But when I quit the mission and quit completely out of TDM, the next time I run TDM, the mission isn't installed anymore. I have to re-install the mission every time (and wait for TDM to restart every time). Of course, once the mission is installed again, my saves are all intact, but if I'm just starting TDM up after having quit, my load/save screen is blank and no mission is installed. I've checked the currentfm.txt file in the darkmod folder, and it seems to show the correct FM (it says "saintlucia," without the quotes). I also experienced this issue with the training mission, but I assumed at the time that it was just an idiosyncrasy of how the training mission worked, but now that I see it's doing it with regular FMs, I definitely want to find a solution, since it's maddening to have to re-install a mission and wait for the game to restart every time I want to play. I'm running Windows 7 x64, my copy of Doom3 is via Steam (purchased just a couple of nights ago, so it should be the correctly patched version), and I've got DarkMod version 1.06. I don't know what other specs might be relevant, so if I've left out anything important, let me know. Thanks! --Jennifer
  13. Not sure if this has been covered anywhere, if so please let me know. I haven't played the older missions in a while so had several to update. Now I have double names of some (I'm assuming one is old one is new) Questions: Do I need to erase the first version? If not, how can I tell which is the updated version by looking at the list so I know which to play?

Hi all i will be releasing part one and 2 of my first mission this weekend, but i need some assistance, how exactly do i trigger the end of a mission? i cannot seem to find an entity that dous that, i can use addobjective but that just gives a new objective, the wikki is unclear about that or i cannot figure it out.

  17. The ingame "Online Mission Archive" lists some missions I already have installed, but doesn't indicate them as an update. Chalice, Crown, Outpost and Return to the City seem to be the "old" versions. Looking into the file "missions.tdminfo" I found the following lines: tdm_missioninfo 2490 { } tdm_missioninfo 2490_chalice { } tdm_missioninfo 2491 { } tdm_missioninfo 2491_crown_of_penitence { } tdm_missioninfo 2492 { } tdm_missioninfo 2492_outpost { } [and for return to the city] tdm_missioninfo return_to_the_city { } Maybe there is some relation to the folder name? Furthermore I don't have any folder 2490, 2491 or 2492. Also, Lockdown part 1 didn't show up.
  18. Out of all the FMs listed on the wiki, there are 3 that I simply cannot get to play. Somewhere Above the City - the mission loading bar completes, switches to 'Mission Loaded, Please Wait' text, and Doom3 crashes a short time after. Alchemist - the mission loading bar completes, switches to 'Preparing Mission, Please Wait' text, and Doom3 crashes a short time after. The Rift - the mission doesn't even get as far as the splash screen/loading bar, Doom3 crashes while still showing the 'Dark Mod' splash screen. All crash with the 'Doom3 has stopped working' popup error message. No other error message. All other missions - and by this I mean, every other FM listed in the wiki - loads and plays fine. I first reported this in the Alchemist thread on these forums. Fidcal and nbohr1more were kind enough to attempt to help me with the issue, but after posting a couple conDump files and my DoomConfig, no answer was found as to why it was happening. I have the proper Doom3 patch. I have tried various graphics settings fruitlessly. System specs: Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3GHz, Win7 (have tried with Aero on and off), 8GB RAM, ATI 4870 (Catalyst AI disabled). I appreciate all help and ideas as to what I might try to fix whatever the problem is!
  19. hi, the direct mission download is a nice feature but now i have 2 missions double installed and cant get rid of them even with usind the deinstall ingame. i can delete them but im able to reinstall them afterwards. and now the question about the resolution. i can choose ration 16:9 but there is no possible resolution like 1600x900 which is the native resolution of my laptop. why not? the laptop looks like each lcd monitor horrible bad in other resolutions than their recommended ones...
  20. I've just completed the upgrade from IPB 2.2.x to 2.3.6, the newest official release of IPB. This was done to stay ahead on the IPB version 3 that is currently in the beta stages.   23. Due to RL problems and mapping preference I cannot hold back the release of The Knighton Manor fan mission any longer. So I suppose it is time to betatest and release this map. This is a small/medium sized map, about the size of The Beleaguered Fence and The Glenham Tower. (Sotha-sized so to speak. ) The Knighton Manor is a prequel for The Beleaguered Fence. Any volunteers? 2-3 experienced mappers would be nice. Also, Melan.. You've been so fantastic betatester in my previous map releases, so I would be really happy if you helped me out once again. I'd also like to the testers pay special attention to the readables. I'm not a native english speaker so I really need help in that area. Thank you very much! After I get this map out, I'm gonna take a looooooooooooong break from mapping, at least half a year. I'll still hang around here and happily play other mappers contributions.
  24. Um, What happened to the missions downloads? I see 'No FM's available at this time'? Just wondering?
  25. First off - really excited about this and want to support this effort - props to the team and thanks. I feel totally ignorant but cannot figure out how to get the 3 FM missions to show up. The training mission is working fine but there are no others to load. I've downloaded the three FM missions and extracted them into the doom3\darkmod\fms directory. It's weird but nowhere in the .zip files are an actual PK4 file and the extraction process doesnt create a folder with the mission name and a pk4 file inside it like the training mission. What am I missing? any help is appreciated. BishopTx
