extinguishing torches with water arrows

Aim slightly above the torch and let the water fall in it. Or, if it sticks out too far from the wall, you have to hit the base of the torch itself.

How it should be? Do water arrows work 100% correctly? I'm still having trouble on this.

What is your method? I usually find that hitting the torch bracket is most successful, or aiming above the torch slightly and letting the water splash rain down. The second approach is quite good for hanging ceiling lights.

You have two options really:

  1. Aim directly at the flame. This is a bit more difficult one, since you have to hit exactly the correct spot. If you miss, your arrow will hit the wall behind the torch and the water does not splash on the fire: an arrow wasted
  2. Aim somewhere above the the flame. When the arrow hits the ceiling, the water splash falls down on the flame. This is a bit more forgiving, but is difficult if there is no roof above the fire.

EDIT: removed some stuff from here.

thanks all for quick answers.

my method is both. I usually prefer aiming above since it's more easy. However it doesn't work always on torches that are the on corner of the wall. I need to master hitting the torch bracket. I wish there was a training for this like in training mission.

I mistake I used to make a lot when I'm in a hurry is not noticing the angle of the shot relative to the wall.

I try to hit just behind the torch on the wall it is mounted on, but since it's coming in at an angle the arrow hits off to the left or right of the torch rather than right behind it and doesn't do anything.

Now I always to remember to imagine a line going up from where the torch is attached to the wall so I know where I want to hit the wall.

Does anyone else have slight trouble extinguishing the frobbable candles with water arrows? Guards don't seem to mind when I extinguish a torch in a room, but when I hit a candle the physics often make it fly noisily across a table and put them on full alert. x-D

Yes, you can pinch out candles by picking them up and hitting "use". Otherwise try having the arrow hit something near the candle but not the candle itself to avoid knocking it over.

Ah yes - I /love/ pinching out candles - but there's been a couple of times when there's too many guards together in a close space for me to get close enough! I'm intrigued by the hint to shower the water droplets - I assumed that the water in TDM worked by being a "sphere" of influence rather than being true water. Very cool!

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
