This guy linked to one of the oldest and least impressive videos out there. Anyone already have an account there and want to provide a more accurate impression?

Speaking of the same, can't you edit the video description to note that this is an older build?

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

And a link to a better video. Come to think of it, you should probably provide links in *all* your videos to the download of the game & to the best video. There's no telling what videos people are going to first to see the game for the first time.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Thanks.

I hope my last post picks-up a reply. It reminds me of kindling a fire in a windstorm, the posts accumulate

so quickly there that topics are buried about as soon as they arrive.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

Yes, there is a time gap - people tend to fire off a few opinions and then things are dead and buried. Plus one "it sucks, don't bother" opinion can terminate discussion (not to mention someone with an agenda). Still. Good job!

Yeah but come on, the Moddb editors are not going to award a "Mod of the Year" award, even for something like best community, unless it was actually a good mod too. I think a lot of people will appreciate that much. I mean a lot of people may have the same thinking you mention too, but any little thing that piques people's interest in it is a good thing. And maybe some people will be interested in TDM precisely because they want to part of a cool community.

In any event, it's a definite feather in our cap that sends a signal were not just some random other mod in a sea of 10,000s of them, and there's no reason not to have it out there.

ofcourse. It's just not kind of an award to shut up people. :)

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
