AI that die immediately when hit

I'd like to have an AI that dies if he takes any damage at all. I set his health to 1 HP, yet for some reason I can still shoot him with an arrow once and he just plays his pain animation and doesn't die until he is shot a second time.

Is there a console command that will show me his current HP?

Huh, I forgot that the player's combat difficulty setting adds HP to AI. If you set the Combat Difficulty setting to Hard, even untrained AI get a bonus of 10 HP.

Not quite sure how to get around that problem. I'll try making a custom melee combat entity tomorrow if I can't think of any other ideas.

Maybe you can create one AI for each diff level and give them health that comes out to 1 in each difficulty. I dont know if a -9 health before the extra 10 health is added would be a problem at spawn time.

It'd probably be easier to create a script which checks the health of the AI every .1 seconds or so and will kill the AI if its health drops below the health that it started the level with. I did something something similar in House to check if the player had hurt a friendly AI.

From memory somewhere in the inherited properties are damage multipliers, you could set them up really high so any damage will be a fatal blow.

Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600K @ 3.4ghz stock clocks
8gb Kingston 1600mhz CL8 XMP RAM stock frequency
Sapphire Radeon HD7870 2GB FLeX GHz Edition @ stock @ 1920x1080

Very good point. If I remember correctly, the multipliers are set for different body parts, so it is some writing work to do, but it should also work.

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
