Usually I'm a little miffed about them giving away games that I paid for, especially if I paid full price, but in this case I've logged dozens maybe 100s of hours in this game, so I can't really complain.

Just like with sales where they sell software for 50 %, or less, I won't complain. It's fair enough, I benefitted from sales, and I might have bought the one or the other software full price, when it was on a sale next week. These dynamics in economy are very important, and also are good for me as a customer.

GTA 5 is 5 years old now. It's been on sale several times for 15 €. Actually, I already bought it two times, once from Rockstar directly, the other time on Steam to have it in my Steam library. Now I got it a third time for free. It's fine. :)

Epic Games will have paid Rockstar Games half a fortune, that's for sure. Seems like they're really doing everything now to get their store running. No wonder. Very hard competition with Steam.

The first time I registered, I was surprised to discover an account had already been made for my email by someone in Thailand, and I wasn't the only person that happened to! So I can understand why they want to fill my Epic library with so many free games, but I still don't really want to give them my credit card info.

It's amazing how much money they must have to do this though, from Fortnight, and I foresee them filling another bunch of Scrooge McDuck swimming pools full of gold with their Unreal 5 engine effectively obliterating the visual difference between rendered geometry and real world video, or for those studios that take advantage of it anyway.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Just for the record, there's also 2 "Assassin's Creed Discovery Tour Egpt" another to Greece and a different game called "Apex" - all for free on Uplay and Origin respectively.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."

Just a heads up: You can still get Arx Fatalis by the almighty Arkane Studios for free on Bethesda until the 31st of May: https://bethesda.net/de/article/6rPaxM6vcW0ZgCaK6DCqKe/welcome-to-arkane-20

Gotta sign up for their newsletter (which you can cancel again at any time), and then Arx Fatalis pops up in your games in the Bethesda Launcher. The game is great, for those who didn't play it yet. Oldschool but goodie. :) Fully compatible with Windows 10 now too, they actually updated it a couple of days ago.

Arx Fatalis is a really good first person RPG. Everyone who did not play it already should really give it a try (especially now that "Arx - End of Sun is dead" and there will therefore probably never be another Arx...).
I already got my copy years ago though from GOG for a buck or two though...

BTW, unrelated, but, I read yesterday that the Dishonored series is not dead, according to the head of Arkane Studios. There's nothing in development so far, but, it could well be that we will see another Dishonored one day. :) Which would be freaking awesome, because I enjoyed every minute of the former parts.

Epic is currently giving away overcooked. I've had that game for a long time and it's absolutely fun with a couple of friends on your couch. Save it now for after corona, so you can enjoy it together. Preferably with a couple of beers. 😉

Thanks for the laugh. ;)

GOG is Linux friendly (although no native GOG Galaxy client yet), anti-DRM, and has modernized versions of lots of old games. Epic uses exclusivity deals to lock games into its platform, and lets developers disable reviews. I'll use GOG and Steam in that order.

I don't care about Linux or anti-DRM. GOG doesn't have all games. That's why I buy on Steam. I would in no way call it or any other store "superior" though, but, I'm not surprised to hear it in context of the GOG platform. It has "superiority complex" written all over it, just like Linux.

They're giving away Hitman Absolution at the moment, in the inferior GOG store. ;)

I can't seem to get it though. Their inferior servers are completely overrun.

Came here to say the same, you just beat me to it ;). Great game, especially if you're trying to be a silent assassin. Also Ark and Samurai Showdown are free on the Epic store.

Wow, they really aren't prepared for success. Wonder how that servers are expected to survive Cyberpunk 2077...

But at least that shop works well, when they are not overrun - the epic store never performs even remotely acceptable regardless of traffic.

Update: The run is over, servers work fine now.

That thing puzzled me... I think I registered (to what anyway?), but, didn't get Watch Dogs 2. I wished they would make such things more obvious. What do I register for, and what do I need to do to get the game?

Kind of lame.

I think the digital delivery can take some time, for whatever reason. Did you try to log in to your uplay account again? I just checked in my uplay app and I have Watch Dogs 2 unlocked.

2 games free on Epic today.

Among them is TACOMA. I've been keeping an eye on this adventure and I'm glad that it's free. Seems to have a good story.

Well, this is just sad...I was not able to play any Thief or TDM whatsoever, why? Too busy the past 2 months, this month I'm not as busy BUT it's also very heaty in my place.
I can't play Thief when it's not at least 15c or lower, the game demands to be played when it's cold for...Well, may sound stupid but I'll just say it, for that "immersion".
It's kinda like playing Quake during Summer, which unless it's the Summer Jam mod, I don't think it's as fun.

The preliminary working titles for the missions in my now-in-development Partners in Crime series:
      - Partners in Crime 1: A Mere Trinket
      - Partners in Crime 2: Beacon Burglary
      - Partners in Crime 3: In the Bleak Midwinter
      - Partners in Crime 4 (5 ?): Fishy Dealings
      - Partners in Crime 5 (4 ?): A Thief in the Night

No title stealing, please.  In return, I promise to finish these. I do stress the preliminary part. Beyond the broad strokes storyline, plot, objectives, briefings and the (currently built) layouts of these FMs, I haven't fully decided about every single detail yet, including the exact order of the missions (4 and 5 might switch places, with the story adjusted accordingly). I want the overall plot to be plotted out a bit in advance and not suffer too much from inserting prequels later. I also prefer to let my FM building fill out part of the details naturally.

Currently working on the second FM, and once I do enough work on the current prototype, I'll work on the first one, until I get that one released. Then complete the second one, get that one ready for release (hopefully) a few months later, and so on. I want most of the early missions to be fairly small and confined, and get a bit bigger as I grow more confident in my FM making skills.

Though there is an overarching storyline to this series, the missions themselves are mostly episodic in nature. They factor into the character development of the two main characters I'll have in the series, but it's the kind of continuity where the mission's own plot and story wouldn't depend on it.
