Hey guys I have registered here and should have my website finished within 2 days. You can look at my demo reel from this link but please allow 10 to 15 min to DL as it is over 80 megs. You will need to un-zip it as well using WinRAR. In this reel you can see some of my animations as well as my modeling and texture work

We could use an animator above anything else. There was only a few seconds of anmation in there, but it looked good.

I dont know why it would freeze up make sure you save the file to your desktop and unzip it. then play the .mov file form there. Thanks for the vote let me know when you reach your descision.

No I am not familiar with Thief. Is there someway I can get a demo or free copy of the game. Also I understand yall are using lightwave for the models. Please make sure you export the files as OBJ's so that I can use either Maya or Max which I feel would be best for animating as I dont have LW and haven't used it b4. But if I must use LW I would need to get hold of a copy of it. Anyone know how much it is? Also this is a Doom 3 mod? Or what engine are you using I know as a modeller this is really only important for exporting my assets and animations but I still need to know poly count restrictions, texture map and normal map size limits for the work.

 

So let me know if I am onboard with you guys. If not I have other projects that people have asked me to work on as well as my own.

Maya is the correct app for animating doom models, so you're fine there.

I'll give them to you in mb format. There is no exporter for maya 7 though, maya 6 is the last version you can export from.

We really only need animations from you ATM, so no need to worry about anyting else.

ok NP I have Maya 6 and 7 so it will be NP to use either program. The animations I have on my demo reel were done in Maya 6. Also sorry for any confusion about my working with you guys I had no idea you actually had people in the gaming industry working with you. BTW I am seriously looking for a job ;)

sparhawk is using linux though. A TDS-hating version of linux too! :P

It doesn't like good graphics ;)

 

For TDM development I use Windows currently. It's not that I don't know how to run a movie, apparently it's the codec in use.

Who would that be? Domarius? IMO he is only apprentice. Don't know about the others but AFAIK noone here is in actual gamebusiness.

I applied for a job once here in Germany, on two different companies, but they prefer to hire students. They are much cheaper and even gratefull to work for the honor instead of money. Having 20 years experience of software development doesn't count much when you can get one working almost for free.

Actually I was using Linux as my primary system before I started to work on TDM. I still have to get my soundcard working under Linux. :( That's the annoying thing about it.

It's not crucially important for animations, true, but it will probably help to have a basic familiarity with the different alertness states, etc.

      I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.
