While updating my first FM, I noticed a lot of silly things I did because I was still new to DR. For example, there was a model for a wheel that I wanted the player to be able to turn that had its origin off-center. I didn't know I could just re-export the model inside DR to fix its origin, so instead that wheel triggers a func_mover it's bound to. A silly solution in retrospect, has anyone else made somewhat janky or roundabout solutions to technical challenges in their maps? I'd love to hear about 'em!

Don't feel bad at all about "silly" work-arounds In my current WIP, I have a custom def-attached extinguishable light entity that I can't, for the life of me, get to turn off at map start. My solution: encase the light entity in a water brush, then remove the water brush one second after map start
Works like a charm

Who is actually working on new missions right now? That I, the greatest mapper of all times (and I say this in all modesty, it is innate in me) am working on something epochal is clear to everyone by now. But who else is working on new missions? Please let me, your God, know, because it's so depressingly quiet here and I don't like to post pictures all the time, because even for me it gets a bit too boastful (although justified) with time.

Bachelor Mapping Challenge!
The girlfriend will be away to her mum's place for almost a week, which means more mapping time for me! I'm planning a speed build. Hope it will go my way
I'm starting by downloading 2.11. Don't know if I'm going to use any fancy new stuff. Just want to crack those itching map muscles that has gone dry and dead since almost a year's worth of no-mapping

Hey, I saw discussion about the magic dude and how you had to take his magic bracelet before you can hurt him. Well, he was sitting on a chair in the kitchen and I sneaked up to him and knoked him out .. then I took his magic bracelet. I had to hit him twice because first hit he stood up, but the second hit, imedeatly after that, just knockt him out ...
Also I saw that at some areas in the water works the water reflects the skybox: screenshot

Whoa! I wonder what causes that reflection error. You didn't perchance use "noclip" did you? I know that noclipping actually causes a few errors in this map, but since the player shouldn't noclip, its kind of a moot point. And in regards to the mage, there is a small window where you can get lucky enough to knock him out. The nodraw solid brush that i bound to him (his "protective shield") is not perfect, so I think we can chalk that up to the luck of the draw
