  1. They talked about fan mission compatibility, but, whether that means that they will offer an editor, or that even Thief Gold FMs are supported, I don't know. Many questions about the remaster.

    Talbot 1

See this: I.e.: Talbot 1 is Prowler of the Dark from Thief Gold.
  3. Considering the epicness of the soundtrack (and its impact on gameplay), I highly suspect that they will have it in full length in the remaster.
  4. Atari bought Nightdive Studios, I think. What happened with the Thief IP, I don't know.
  5. Do you have a link? I neither read about something like that anywhere, nor does the Google A.I. find anything in that regard. Edit: Ok, I guess this is what you mean:
  6. I have no idea why some people think a remaster of a 30 year old niche game is supposed to be a "cash grab"... People can't think anymore, I tell you. And people also don't honour work and effort anymore, and the necessity to create money, when you do something for a living.
  7. Yep, you can switch between the old and new graphics with F1. Unfortunately, the old graphics only run with 30 FPS. And, texture filtering is deactivated, which makes it look even worse.
  8. Google A.I. says there is no new campaign included, for what it's worth: https://share.google/aimode/vdfonEYYeNcKGbV5J I have no idea what Stephen Russell's involvement is about either though. I wondered about that as well. Hopefully they didn't add more babble to the original game...
  9. The engine is obviously better, as is the item handling. The lore, the atmosphere, the sound/music, gameplay, the A.I., the diversity of the different enemy types? All better in the original Thiefs, to be honest. That said, it's probably the best franchise which was ever created, so, it's very hard to top it.
  10. I frankly would have been p***ed off if they would have changed the level geometry in the Tomb Raider remasters. Especially considering the controls and movements were made with fixed units in mind. They had a hard time implementing the modern controls because of that. There are some things which are not possible with the modern controls. I'm a bit split regarding the Thief Gold remaster though. I don't really think it is as necessary as the Tomb Raider remasters, for example. TFix works fine. For Tomb Raider, the fact alone that you are not restricted to 30 FPS like in the original games was a huge advantage of the remasters, not to talk about the graphical improvements, widescreen support, and a lot of bug fixes. You pretty much have that with Thief Gold and TFix already. In the Steam forums, they mentioned the advantage of having new people getting into Thief, but, I don't think it will be that many.
  11. In my opinion, the closer they stay to the original the better.
  12. Really... nothing... just move on... https://store.steampowered.com/app/4200960/Thief_The_Dark_Project_Remastered/
  13. Hardware trouble is definitely the primary issue I have with it, but, I also think the free software and open source approach is counterproductive, and a big part of the problem with hardware compatibility. You can't force a whole (competitive) industry to have your way.
  14. I always thought that it's pretty depressing that such innovative people that worked on games like Ultima Underworld or the Thief games did so little with their obviously massive talent after those games. Ken Levine being one of the praiseworthy exceptions.
  15. True, thinking about it, it's not that unnormal.
  16. I miss the poll option "Because it sucks and never works properly".
  17. Only thing I wonder is how palm trees can grow on rocks.
  18. Yeah, the lines were not so cool. The rest, wow. Looking great.
  19. Yeah, I think those who have a moderately powerful PC (even mid range from 5 years ago will do) will change most settings to high/highest, including LOD.
  20. The LOD setting shouldn't brighten up things so much. Object detail is object detail, not lighting.
  21. What happens if someone has set a higher LOD, but the map author has NOT set several LOD levels? Default to normal LOD level? And why does the thing @Xolvix posted happen? Bug? That's particularly bad as that mission is supposed to be used for setting gamma and brightness...
  22. To be fair, it's very complicated, very hard work, and very hard to make a living of it (I guess). I think you can be proud of what you achieved with your game.
  23. Doesn't change anything about it being deperessing.
  24. Not quite. It's a very small team, and creating such game worlds takes ages indeed. Gloomwood was first announced in 2020, and, it's safe to say that it already was in development for some time at that point. Now we have 2026, and the game surely will be in development for another 3, if not 4 years. How long will Bethesda take for the next Fallout? How long did Rockstar Games take for GTA 6? And, those are monster multiple hundred devs studios. You know what's deperessing for me about modern game development? That they have to put 90% of the work in visual fidelity. Seeing that a shiny surface is so much more important than gameplay depth is very depressing indeed.
  25. There is no player shadow in TDM. You can add one via the console, but, AFAIK, it has no effect on A.I. And, in the past, some developers have pointed out that having it, and A.I. reacting to it would open a whole new can of worms, and would be too complex and complicated for the player to figure out. See this thread, for example:
