  1. I wanted to write a reply to the original post, but, i'm afraid, you have already built your opinion, so, i don't really see a point in replying anymore. "Capitalism is the illness". No need to argue with that, because, if you feel like you can wrap up a complex topic in one sentence, which defeats any rational arguing, which could change that attitude, it's really wasted time. See, i could tell you that it takes a lot more than average abilities, and being "at the right spot at the right time", but, what would the point be? Capitalism is the illness anyway.
  2. TBH, the biggest issue i have with it is that i just can't identiy myself with the protagonist too much. Rather seems like a gathering of discrimination stereotypes (female, black, lesbian). Typical for games or movies these days. At least in Dishonored 2, you could choose a female and male character. Gameplay is great, though, so...
  3. Yeah. I'm finishing Death of the Outsider at the moment, and, it's pretty great. Regading your playthrough of Dishonored 2, if you don't remember the former missions very well, why not start from the beginning again? TBH, i personally hate getting back to a game i stopped playing months or years ago, and then trying to find into it again. But then, i have a pretty bad memory, so, if yours is better, then you may not have any issues with that.
  4. Now if they'd just do something good with it...
  5. Good question... as far as i'm concerned, most of the good missions are also well known. As you mentioned Lords & Legacy, that was a good one. I don't have the feeling that it went under the radar, though. Maybe some of the more unusual missions, like The Gatehouse, or A House of Locked Secrets. Those were really excellent, and, would be a shame if people pass on those, just because they're not the regular menu.
  6. Hmm... there's always stuff like that in mods or community remakes, i'm afraid. After initially being pretty hyped about Deus Ex Revision, for example, i pretty much hated it, when i played it after the release. Shame really, Dagger of Xian looks very good from the video.
  7. Did one of you try that Tomb Raider Dagge of Xian demo? http://tombraider-dox.com/ Always wanted to try it out, but, never did.
  8. Well, don't get me wrong, I'd personally never switch to any of those now. I have a feeling it would be the best though, for the people complaining that Chrome, Windows, and Nvidia are what they are.
  9. No worries. It isn't my mother tongue either. The issue i have with threads like these is that i just don't feel as if they're about the actual topic announced. Rather, generally, anti-business. Again, if you don't care about Google, Microsoft, whatever, there's alternatives. If you decide to use Google, you have to be aware that it's their product, and you use it for what it is. Asking Google to exclude Google is like asking Porsche to exclude anything what Porsche is about in one of their cars. Imagine how i had to laugh when Google announced an adblocker in Chrome. An adblocker. In a Google browser. How perverse can it get? The company which is responsible for 90% of the advertisement on the net, whose whole business model is based on advertising introduces an adblocker in their browser. Really, this world is extremely nuts for the most part of it these days. And that's not because of the companies.
  10. No, where did i say that? Evangelizing for a browser is hardy politics though. Not in the sense of Anti-Google, Anti-Microsoft, or Anti-Nvidia, as it is presented daily here and elsewhere. I just wished people would use Firefox, Linux and AMD, if they're so pissed off by those companies, and their "power", instead of trying to evangelize everyone. It isn't about Google, Microsoft or Nvidia anyway. It's about attitude. And, i can think and act for myself. Don't need self proclaimed apostles to tell me what to think and what to do.
  11. That's sort of what i hated about the new Wolfensteins. You sneak through ventilation shafts, and kill soldiers silently, just to end up in a room after a cut scene, having to shoot from all barrels, with a seemingly never ending stream of enemies spawning. Return to Castle Wolfenstein at least halfway let you play your way. The modern action games force you to play the way the developers intended.
  12. I can only repeat what i wrote in that other thread: You shouldn't use Chrome, if you don't care for Google, or their services. This seems like buying a Porsche, just to amputate the engine afterwards, and driving the thing with pedals. I also wonder about the mass of similar threads here. Seems the whole offtopic section of this forum is there to make politics now. I mean, it's cool to have an opinion, and all that, but, why try to evangelize others the whole time? Just use Firefox, Windows 7, Linux, or whatever, and be done with it.
  13. I don't think there's much to modify about the climbing behavior in TDM either... i also think it shouldn't stray too far from the original Thief's in that regard. IMO, it's pretty much perfect the way it is.
  14. That's what i thought. Doesn't always work though. Kind of a hit and miss, like blackjacking.
  15. It's an interesting idea, and, how i know players, it could be extra motivation for some of them. Personally, i'm too bad to be competitive anyway, so, it won't change anything for me , but, there's a lot of competitive people out there. Frankly, though, i think the "problems" are elsewhere. Just not enough folk discover TDM. Steam could have been a good way to attract new player, but, i'm afraid that, once again, a open source license rather made things more complicated than the opposite. Thinking more about the topic, i feel like it is too much work without a real benefit, so, i'd rather vote for "I don't care, TDM works best as a direct Thief's descendant." I think it's nice to have mission stats, as it was in the original Thief's (and TDM obviously even improves on that), but, can't see how a handful of online records could add more to that.
  16. For me, Tomb Raider Underworld. Simply because it mixes the well known formula with a nice game world, and sort of perfectioned the gameplay. Legend and Anniversary were great too, though. The worst for me are the last 3 reboots, which totally change the gameplay into something action orientated, casual, which is so frequently done these days. I used to play Tomb Raider 1 and 2 on the PS One, but... i can't really play them anymore nowadays. The control is quite cumbersome, and Crystal Dynamics improved the games in literally any way thinkable, so... parts 7 to 9 are by far the best for me.
  17. What i always wondered is how you jump down without making any noise. Seems to be a hit & miss in TDM. Sometimes crouching when falling down seems to help, sometimes it doesn't.
  18. Sorry if that already has been asked (or replied): Do you plan on implementing something similar to Dishonored? In the sense of, when you spy through the keyhole, you can move the "camera" up, down, left and right to some degree? Of course only as much as the visible area spying through a keyhole would allow. Would be really great, as a simple single view angle might be a bit restrictive, and wouldn't let you see much.
  19. Although i think Springheel is quite right with his worries that it could break the mission, i think the idea as such is super cool. TBH, i can't see how such a complex behavior could work though, without potentially messing up the whole mission. So, i think i'm rather for keeping it simple, and, more importantly, predictable. After all, as a player you want to keep a certain control over how the break-in proceeds. Also, how much sense does one AI guard which breaks into the house make? You'd think he'd want to call for reinforcements, when the house owner saw a thief, and all the AI's would do a search in the house.
  20. Did you try TDM on Ubuntu? Uses Gnome 3 too, so, maybe you can pinpoint a bit more whether it really is an issue related to Gnome 3.
  21. I'm not missing nice and fast ways to travel through a map, what i'm rather missing is some creativity, things like traps, secrets, alternative ways like ventilation shafts, roof beams, that sort of things. They're there in some missions, but, many just offer the odd ways to travel from room to room. Or, they feature way too small hallways, and you can run into guards at any time, without actually knowing where they came from.
  22. Between 1 and 1.1, i think. Differs very much with different monitors... on my former one, it was rather 0.9 to 1.
