  1. You may have noticed that TDM 2.05 ships with two new missions. Mission 1: A New Job, and Mission 2: Tears of St. Lucia. One of the most common complaints about TDM over the years has been that there is no official storyline included in the game. Although we have a Training Mission, players seem to want a mission that introduces gameplay concepts during an actual story. To that end, we started working on a short, 3-mission campaign to be included with the mod as an introduction to our setting and gameplay. The story would revolve around the St. Lucia mission, our first official team map. It was decided that a small, introductory mission would be a prologue to St. Lucia, and a third mission would be the sequel. I had hoped that by keeping the campaign small (2 new maps) it would be a realistic thing to achieve in a year, but it didn't turn out that way. Since I was both creating new model sets from scratch and using them to create the maps at the same time, progress was slow. Eventually I burned myself out, and we had the choice of holding back what was already completed until the whole story was done (which might never happen), or release what was already accomplished so that mappers could begin using the new module sets. Thus, the two missions represent the first two chapters of the 3-mission campaign. A New Job is a small, introductory mission meant to help new players get used to the gameplay and setting of TDM. Tears of St. Lucia has been revised to fit into the storyline created for the campaign, though there are no radical changes from the original (the original has been left as is for legacy purposes). Hope you enjoy!
  2. Having enjoyed giving voice to six or so DM missions, I want to branch out...can anyone tell me if there are other games using fan missions where I might apply my voice? I want to move into doing voice work professionally one day, but for now am thrilled to use my talents as donated work for the Dark Mod and others. Visit my website for samples of my work on my demo page, and for a short reel of DM voices I have done, and please...if you have contacts with Skyrim or other modders, contact me. www.everybodyandme.com
  3. Afternoon I have been having issues with this of late, recently I updated Dragofer mission to version 3.0 - I uploaded the updated file to river.pk4 (it was river3.pk4) I then changed the version number on the FM page from 2. to 3.The issue Dragofer is now having is he is seeing two version's of the FM in the in-game list.
  4. Does anyone know of any good fan missions that's not breaking into a church or mansion, but instead you're running around on the rooftops breaking into places via windows and stuff like that, or at least something along those lines? It's been a while since I've taken a ride on the thieves highway. Thanks in advance.
  5. It seems I have a fan. :)

  6. Something that occurred to me recently is that for both of my released missions, as well as the one that's work in progress, there are songs with exactly the same titles (and two of those are quite likeable). It's an interesting new perspective on the missions, that's for sure. https://youtu.be/KCGN48GqdZg https://youtu.be/TQVYV12TZic Does your mission also have a namesake song, and is it any good?
  7. Coercion is a small FM, where a crime organization forces you to sneak into a mansion and steal precious books. Made by Sotha. The mission is warmly recommended for new players and beginners! BUILD TIME: Summer 2016 CREDITS Thanks goes to TDM team and the whole community. Goldwell and Andros is thanked for voice acting. Special thanks to betatesters: Grayman, Bikerdude, Obstorte and Crowbars82 Enjoy! Download link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwR0ORZU5sraN24tZlI2MHR3c1U/view?usp=sharing
  8. The fisheries have had a bad year. Unemployed roam the streets and crowd the pubs. The merchants sleep with one eye open and keep a tight grip on their property amid the unrest. A thief, even a skilled thief like myself, has a hard time finding good, worthwhile work. I began looking for more... unusual tasks. I set my eyes on Thornton Hall, remote and cut off from the outside world. These outlying manors are difficult to find, let alone reach, but they're bound to hold precious trinkets and family heirlooms untouched by anyone. Not few are said to be haunted by one dreadful apparition or another. But it's common for the lords themselves to spread these rumours, to keep unwanted visitors away. This mission is in two parts. Once youre done with the first, on to the next. Changelog, v3, December 14th, 2016: Changelog, v2.5, November 23rd, 2016: Changelog, v2, October 27th, 2016: Notes In response to a question about the relation of this mission to One Step Too Far: This mission started its life as a standalone mission for a Halloween contest, so it takes place in a different setting and begins with its own story. There is, however, a strong link thatll become apparent during the mission. From a mapping perspective it contains areas and ideas that I had originally intended for Of Brambles and Thorns, which is the bonafide sequel, but realised that they wouldn't have space there anymore. So this could be described as being neither sequel nor prequel, but certainly a part of the series that began with One Step Too Far. Solutions Part 1 Part 2 Credits - Inspiration, Story: The Terrible Old Man by H.P. Lovecraft, a short story which leaves much to the imagination. - Inspiration, Setting: Right Up There in the Mountains by Troutpack, a fan mission for Thief 2 which left its mark. - Betatesters Round 1: Abusimplea, ankai, Ryan101, Oldjim, bikerdude - Betatesters Round 2: nbohr1more, bikerdude, crowbars82, jaxa, dunedain19 - Custom voice work: AndrosTheOxen, bikerdude, Goldwell - Custom models: Atheran, epifire, Dragofer - Custom paintings: Airship Ballet - Custom AI path setup: Sotha - Custom ambient tracks: gigagooga, spady, bottle_rocket_fx, dobroide, Dragofer, augustsandberg, bosk1, 01sound - Custom sound effects: kyyrma, cgeffex, speedenza, cabro, joelaudio, robinhood76, klankbeeld, benjaminharveydesign, vate - Bikerdude for not allowing me to stray from the highest standards and perfing troublesome spots - John Atkinson Grimshaw, Ivan Aivazovsyk and William Bradford for paintings used in the briefings and loading screens

  10. Wie Jarig is, trakteert ! (for the few taffers that don't understand Dutch too well) "He who has the birthday gives the treats" The story (being a sequel) starts where you ended with the Librarian. In the Librarian, you were on a quest to find the Spear of Destiny which is believed to give immense power to the one in possession of it. At the end of the mission, you arrived at the place where The Spear had been hidden for millennia, guarded by the spirits of Water, Fire, Air and Earth. But the Spear was not there. It had been taken by the Mechanists! The Mechanists were disbanded after the fall of their evil leader, Karras, but clearly they regained their powers, led by their new leader, Cavall. At this point the mission, The Librarian, ended and left you hanging ... "So, Garrett, once again, it is up to you to save the world! Follow the trail left by the Mechanists to their secret hide out and prevent them from activating the Spear." So that is your mission in The Spear. You start in an abandoned compound of an ancient Numerology sect. Here you must find a passage to the new hideout of the Mechanists. In their mega-fortress you will have to find the Spear again ... and a way to destroy it ... maybe .... The Spear is packed full of intrigue and side-plots initiated by the evil Cavall. Expect the unexpected! And if you like to explore, your quest can lead you to some very strange, hidden locations. Proceed with caution, taffer ... 11. By way of introduction, Penny Dreadful is a fan mission series dealing with the exploits and misfortunes of Gerald Foxley, lowlife and common opportunist. To stick with the theme of lurid and disreputable pulp literature, these missions were planned to be nasty, brutish and short, which sort of worked in PD1, was not entirely working in PD2, and went out the window with PD3, which ended up much bigger than I ever expected. The series also allows me to experiment with gameplay ideas which do not completely fit TDM standards: Foxley is slightly worse at stealth than the TDM baseline, and can't pick locks: you will need to find different ways of getting into places. In the first episode, The Grail of Regrets, what started out as a routine case of extortion ended with Gerald in the possession of the eponymous Grail. In the second, All the Way Up, these newfound fortunes proved to be shorter than anticipated, as Messer Montrose, a corrupt nobleman, and his ally, the local Bailiff conspired to rob Foxley of the prize to further their own ends. The Grail is now in the hands of Archibald Flint, a powerful crime boss ruling from a mansion on Fiddler's Hill, an infamous den of thieves. However, to get close to him, Foxley has to remove a few obstacles in the way... Erasing the Trail "Kill a man and take his life; wound him, and restore his pride." -- alleyway proverb. "In a city where every window is an eye and every doorway a whispering mouth, it is hard to keep a secret. When I learned of crime lord Archibald Flint's involvement in robbing me of the Grail of Regrets, I knew I'd have to strike quick, and strike first. But I failed. By the time I got near his place on Fiddler's Hill, every gate to his hilltop mansion was locked, every alley patrolled by thieves eager to kill. Two days later, I watched my tenement go up in smoke and flames. The hunt was on, and it wouldn't be over until they'd have their quarry dead or captured. Flint's main enforcer is a man named Grunt, known to communicate in written orders after his throat was cut in some altercation... a real bloodhound. I will have to deal with him one way or another to get the heat off of my back, and allow me to reach Flint himself... Flint is also looking for my dead body, and I'm planning to have it delivered right to his doorstep. Another underworld figure, Almsmaster Quandt, lives a few streets from Grunt's mansion, and he is said to be my spitting image, an uncanny resemblance. Wonder if Flint will recognise the difference... well, time to find out. Sometimes the only way to deal with a hornet's nest is to kick it over. This night, I am back in the middle of it. I have already run into a pair of sentinels, but I slipped into a small garden and jammed the lock behind me with a bit of wire. Hope they don't raise the whole neighbourhood, or this will be over real quick. Time to get moving." Download links: Mega (200 MB)mission downloader!***Performance warning***: as usual, this mission pushes the limits a bit (although less than PD2). The hardware requirements exceed the TDM baseline, and the loading time is fairly long. Optimalisation should be credited to Bikerdude, while the remaining problems are all mine. High-resolution player map (for printing, etc.): Notes: Erasing the Trail is intended to be an open-ended city exploration mission, where you can approach your objectives from multiple angles, and discover multiple solutions to complete them; some more straightforward, some more obscure.Gerald Foxley is a rank amateur who can't pick locks. You will have to find alternate means to break into places. There is no poll to rate the mission because I do not believe in them. Your comments are welcome in writing, however! You can find my concept art in the PK4 file. These images obviously contain heavy spoilers. This mission series predates, and is thus unrelated to the Penny Dreadful TV series. Special thanks: to our testers, Aluminumhaste, Kingsal, Nbohr1more, Oldjim, Skacky and Premier; gigagooga for several new ambient sounds, and sound conversions (Fabrice Hautecloque from Ishar III, tension loops from Golgo 13: the TV series);Yandros, Bikerdude and Goldchocobo for voice acting;epifire! for custom models; The Canon Texture project for texture work.
  12. Dear fellow Thieves, I am a new taffer introduced to The Dark Mod, & I wondered what are the best Fan Missions I can play? I am mostly looking for Missions that are either decent, good, great, or must play.
  13. Here are a few missions that I've noticed authors update in their threads. The Dark Mod's in-game downloader does not report these updates for me. Although, the in-game downloader has always been a pretty wonky for me on listing new versions and hanging during downloads. 15. Hello Everyone! I've been a fan of the TDM community for some time now. Over the last year or so, I've been chipping away at an FM of my own and it's finally ready for release. Volta 1 : The Stone Volta and the Stone is a fairly large Thief-style mission (Lord Bafford's Manor). It is the first mission of a campaign that follows the Thief and his encounter with an archaic and powerful force. The campaign will span from robbing noble houses to being hunted by malevolent creatures from beyond the Veil. The emphasis is on creating a mood and tone that will hopefully feel familiar to fans of The Dark Mod and the original Thief games. Available through in-game downloader. Or Download here. A few notes Dark Mod v2.8 Required Normal difficulty is intended for new players. Hard/ Expert for most of the TDM community 2+ Hours of gameplay Features lots of custom art/ sounds/ and intro video. If you are stuck or need help: Please PM me or post spoiler free in this thread. I will make an FAQ with hints as they come up! Thanks: Bikerdude, Oldjim, Taquito, Melan, and Goldwell for beta testing. Andrew Bartmess for the wonderful narrator vocals. (v1.2) Special thanks: to FinalBoss and Tins for early alpha testing. I hope you enjoy it!

Difficulty settings: Higher difficulties require you to find more loot and also place restrictions on killing enemies. Known issues: Some areas of the mission can get noticeable drops in framerate. Download links: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ub2vf0t4wwd4ks1/fever.pk4/file Special thanks to: Melan and Xarg for beta testing this mission and providing input on how to improve it. Grayman for his minecart and tracks models from "Somewhere Above the City" Bikerdude for his map from "Alberic's Curse" Gigagooga for his custom ambient sounds (thanks to Melan for recommending them to me)
