  1. Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.
  2. So has anyone else watched this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiwa9-e10m8

I wanna see 5 seconds of gameplay where th player character's movement/navigation/action animations can be interrupted or the camera can look around. I wanna see clumsiness, and other signs of player agency assured.

I like the commentary on the Machinima vid, but the footage they edit and loop came from the German hands-on review, and shows more and continuous footage in longer segments.

Something that is clearly evident in all the videos is... cramped FOV. If its adjustable why aren't they using it? Cause its not. YAY! (sarcasm)

  3. Any maps to recommend where I could study how others use sound_loss on info_locationseparators?

Interesting, quite high sound loss values there.

NB there's a bug with sound loss that causes sound card pops in a complex enough map. It'll be fixed soon in 2.04

Even though I can't run it it's always great to see games with good movement systems get custom levels.

  4. Do you know if it's possible to have 2 normal maps per surface (material) ? For example, I want to have a large rock with one normal map defining general shape details (non-tiling, fits the model) and second normal map defining smaller details, tiling over the surface. I recall there was something like adding normal maps or adding normal and heightmap in Doom 3, but I am not sure how (if possible at all) to make one texture just fit the model as if it was just a regular func_static with regular material, and have "detail" normal map being added to the original one, but having it tiling, as if it was like a wall textures. Thanks.
  5. I rarely watch vids on the net because of limited bandwidth but it occurred to me if I get a downloader then at least I need only download once. I got a plug in for Opera ages ago. It never worked. So, tried Firefox today and downloaded one called Easy. Yeah right. Stupid name. No instructions at all. Couldn't see any way to use it so googled. Found this... When you watch a video, you'll see the add-on has appeared on the information sheet in the top right hand corner of the video, beneath the embedding options. Information sheet? Embedding options? I know nothing about these nor can I see anything in the top right hand corner except 'share'. Any ideas how to use this (in simple English please.) Footnote: If I look in the add-ons I see the Easy downloader with buttons to disable and remove so I assume that means its installed and working?
  6. Can decals have normal/spec maps ? (decals as in patches manually placed on the level) Thanks.

He's a pretty cool guy. You ask him to find stuff and he'll usually turn up the goods. A little nosy though...

  11. Personally I think this is the worst idea ever. The Reason forums has LOADS of info and knowledge, built up through years and years. I'm really sad to see it go away, and I can't understand why they've made this decision. https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/showthread.php?p=1579099#poststop
  12. I remember not being able to use specular/gloss maps, did that change? Things could look infinitely better with these maps!

IIRC, the shader derives gloss-sharpness from the intensity of the specmap. So the higher the spec intensity is, the sharper the gloss. Try experimenting with high and low intensity single-color specmaps to see how it affects the material. That should give you an idea about how to author your actual specmaps.

One thing that Arcturus found is that mirror render maps respect vertex color so one possible way to add additional modulation would be to vertex paint between a black specular texture and grey specular texture (etc).

Silly but not bad... What does Soho mean in this context? For NYC it's the neighborhood SOuth of HOuston St.

Yeah, it's conditioned if you want to get into something or not. If not you'll say: "Blah this kiddy shit turns me off so much." If yes then you'll realize the brilliancy behind the obviousity. It's like art. Some people say it's pointless, others do appreciate it. It's simply up to you!
