What do you guys think of setting up the above, similar to the Thief meet I had a while back.

The same format - snacks, drinks and lots of TDM playing on the 36" CRT in the front room.

The location isnt fixed, but last time it was at my gaff (Uk, south hertfordshire)

I've prepared a global distribution map of some of the most active/prominent/visible Dark Modders.

Based on this distribution and the resulting median's nearest civilized land, I hereby conclude the meet & greet should take place at the famous New Jersey Shore. Enjoy the boardwalk, beaches, amusement rides, and gambling. Stay at a luxury resort or rent a beachside house. This exciting tourist spot is a mere one hour from dazzling New York City and Historic Philadelphia. Get a tan! See the Statue of Liberty! Get carjacked Visit the historic birthplace of America! Play The Dark Mod!

Does this Friday sound good? Great, see you there! Thank you and goodnight; topic locked.

Maybe we could meet and greet Snookie!

But if it's just a US thing I really am the center of it all so we should just meet at my house ;)

That's top secret or the English will go after him.

Just goes to show how much nonsense TV is; I didn't even know who/what 'Snookie' is until I looked it up a minute ago, and I'm only 30 miles from this supposed bed of run-off NYC mob criminal activity.

That map, I'm feeling pretty left out man.

Diago and whoever the Jap guy is, we're going to have our own secret meet for The Outliers. Breaking your stats/maps and having secret meetings since 2006.

Damn I'm really out of it. I don't know what that one means, either. unsure.gif

lol, a couple weeks ago the Repubs had a big shit fit because Obama was going on.. Oh, that show with all the old ladies and Whoopie Goldberg on it , instead of going to the Boy Scout Jamboree.

And on that show they asked him about Snookie, he said he didn't know who she was.

I wish I didn't know who Snookie was, but I came across this web 'game' called Shore Speak or something, They had faces of the cast and when you clicked them they had some stupid sound bite from the show.

Well my research shows this person was recently punched on TV, and that's all I know. TV viewing by me has declined for a long time so at this point I probably haven't been 'in the loop' for at least a year now. (I'm sure in some part due to crap shows like that.)

Bottom line: don't fear the jersey shore, that's all nonsense... It's perfect for TDM Meet and Greet! Since I have the shortest drive -- purely by coincidence -- I'll bring the potato chips. BYOB though.

Currently Dallas, raised in Grand Rapids Michigan.

There might be a small gathering here in Dallas, we've got some TTLG people, Biohazard, and Hybrid formally known as Salsa on Black Cat. God knows who else might show. This is just talk for now, nothing concrete has been set. Over the years, have met a dozen or so, Thief folk.

Guess we Europeans have to make our own meeting, then :) Although I got the distinct feeling that won't happen :D

Yeah, same here..

Howsabout an international TDM conference in some huge conference center with get together parties, coding, mapping, modeling and texturing lectures and then -of course- the conference dinner where everyone gets plastered.. :P

It is truly a shame we live in a real world. ;)

You forgot the evening spent in a Night Club full with Pole Dancing hotties!

I propose that the "meet and greet" take place in a well guarded manor at night with an elegant dining table covered in gold plates and jewel encrusted chalices. Guests may optionally acquire parting gifts from the host.

Well, this is just sad...I was not able to play any Thief or TDM whatsoever, why? Too busy the past 2 months, this month I'm not as busy BUT it's also very heaty in my place.
I can't play Thief when it's not at least 15c or lower, the game demands to be played when it's cold for...Well, may sound stupid but I'll just say it, for that "immersion".
It's kinda like playing Quake during Summer, which unless it's the Summer Jam mod, I don't think it's as fun.

The preliminary working titles for the missions in my now-in-development Partners in Crime series:
      - Partners in Crime 1: A Mere Trinket
      - Partners in Crime 2: Beacon Burglary
      - Partners in Crime 3: In the Bleak Midwinter
      - Partners in Crime 4 (5 ?): Fishy Dealings
      - Partners in Crime 5 (4 ?): A Thief in the Night

No title stealing, please.  In return, I promise to finish these. I do stress the preliminary part. Beyond the broad strokes storyline, plot, objectives, briefings and the (currently built) layouts of these FMs, I haven't fully decided about every single detail yet, including the exact order of the missions (4 and 5 might switch places, with the story adjusted accordingly). I want the overall plot to be plotted out a bit in advance and not suffer too much from inserting prequels later. I also prefer to let my FM building fill out part of the details naturally.

Currently working on the second FM, and once I do enough work on the current prototype, I'll work on the first one, until I get that one released. Then complete the second one, get that one ready for release (hopefully) a few months later, and so on. I want most of the early missions to be fairly small and confined, and get a bit bigger as I grow more confident in my FM making skills.

Though there is an overarching storyline to this series, the missions themselves are mostly episodic in nature. They factor into the character development of the two main characters I'll have in the series, but it's the kind of continuity where the mission's own plot and story wouldn't depend on it.
