Adding TDM to nexus mods

Nexus Mods is a great site for getting new mods for games which don't provide a mod distribution infrastructure themselves.
But maps/levels are provided ingame and there are only very few mods for TDM.

So what is it, a TDM user would look for on Nexus Mods?

Players in general don't search for new games on mod distribution sites. They come there after they got a game they want to add some more flaver to using mods.
Often they even wait until the second playthrough before even evaluating what the mod scene offers.

But luckily, there are specialized game distribution sites - like Steam, GOG, Epicgames, and Itch.io.
So if you seek more exposure, try getting TDM listed there first.

True, but for those hosts need a legal person, which we do not have.
If i  understand the faq and policies of nexus mods, we do not need that.
And yes we got our own distribution,
but distributing files on nexus mod (and other platforms) is just for balancing and exposure.

So to the more popular hosts we upload TDM, the merrier.

About publishing "mods",
for starters register TDM as game and then upload stuff, for example, missions, the installer and all the things that is on moddb.
And for the permissions of the author of the mod, refer to the forum, etc.

I add a small app, which may be useful for our forum developers, to share files of any size and of any type, directly from PC to PC, without the need for a host, such as Google Drive or others in between. It's free, standalone and don't need account. The only and logic limitation is, that the sender's pc has to be turned on and online, so that the recipient can download the file with a link that points directly to the file on the sender's pc. So the sender has full control over the file, he can alow tha amount of downloads, the time of valid downloads and also can put a password, if he want.

Attaching TDM to nexus would decrease its value and status.

TDM has its own distribution system for content, we dont nexus at all.

If you wanted to enhance TDM then there is only 1 way togo, you make a proper launcher for the game.

Dont put more water into this chemical, its not gonna make it better.

I disagree. What is the difference between ModDB and Nexus Mods? I prefer the former and I don't like the latest modders-can't-delete-their-own-mods decision of Nexus Mods, but it wouldn't hurt to get TDM on Nexus Mods and those others that were listed above. Some of which seem very small, at least I heard from GameBanana and GameJolt before and freetogame looks very professional. It would also interest me to see if access numbers of TDM go up afterwards if this can be measured. Download numbers on ModDB are quite low for the latest releases, how are the numbers from the internal updater? How large is the number of TDM players?

I have an account there, but would this be the right place? I mean TDM is still being worked on and there will be new versions again and again (I hope)...

Why not?  its got a dump of the wiki, from 2015, already.

Yeah, we could probably do this as well, it has an even higher traffic. But nobody would see it there unless they search for it which means they already know about it. Like people coming to ModDB or Nexus Mods are looking for games, most people using the Internet Archive probably don't. Also ModDB and Nexus Mods have news sections where TDM would appear whenever an update is made, Internet Archive doesn't have that either...

Does it have any benefit over the well-known Torrent protocol?

It's a P2P much easier to use and destination no need more than a browser.

You can download the example file with the Windows shortcuts, which I put above. (I,ve updated the link to File Direct, before it has pointed only to the home page of O&O Soft.

1. Download and install O&O FileDirect.

2. Drag the file(s) or folders of any size you wish to share onto the program window.

3. O&O FileDirect automatically generates a link that you can share with the recipients.

4. After clicking “Settings”, you can specify whether a link should be disabled after a certain time or a maximal number of downloads.

5. You can also enter a password to protect the download.

6. Just share the link you generated with one or more recipients and leave your computer on

Might be a good alternative to getting TDM on Steam, which as discussed isn't possible for the time being. I'd put it on itch.io first though, if that doesn't have any licensing issues either, given that's the second most popular platform after Steam.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
