  1. Whee! Just completed that new Brutal Doom hell on earth wad. On "10 out of 12" difficulty level I just had to cheat my way through the boss fight. Difficult stuff, but fun game if you forgive the boss fight and the couple of the final hell missions.

He's a pretty cool guy. You ask him to find stuff and he'll usually turn up the goods. A little nosy though...

  3. Personally I think this is the worst idea ever. The Reason forums has LOADS of info and knowledge, built up through years and years. I'm really sad to see it go away, and I can't understand why they've made this decision. https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/showthread.php?p=1579099#poststop
  4. Goldwell

    Doom reboot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca1cHfu1cso They just released a very very small sneak peak at some in-game footage and we should get to see some proper gameplay next month at E3.. June14th at 7pm PT to be specific. I guess the big question on everyones mind is The Dark Mod 2?
  5. So I finally did it Started learning C++ / Qt5 and made my first app - Doom 3 BFG mod launcher. It lets you prep Doom 3 BFG to be mod friendly with a click of a button. No more messing with scripts and console! I also authored a few mods for Doom 3 and now you can run them with Doom 3 BFG (these mods don't have SDK code, scripts/assets mods). Some run well, some not so much. Either way, feel free to give it a spin: http://www.kot-in-action.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=28

I've been considering reinstalling TDS for a wile now... I've still got my original CDs. Have these guys fixed the bug where you get stuck floating? Last time I played TDS, that happened and I was unable to get out of it, so I ragequit.

You can surpass that bug by drawing your bow, performing a shot, and draw your blackjack when the bow is tensioned, to abort the bow shot. I'm hoping it's fixed in the Gold patch too though. Alongside the thing where you move sideways, when peeking left or right.

      @Biker Hmm.

      Build TDM mission in DR.

      Export as portions as ASE

Edit in Blender and export in TDS compatible format

      Import into T3ED

      Edit

      Release TDS mission...

      (or just stick with TDM)

This looks cool, somehow oldschool in a nice way.

I hope the gameplay is unique to justify him reinventing the wheel instead of, e.g., just forking off of us. The art design looks good.

  6. Sorry if this has been posted before, I know some of you are already aware of this but I couldn't see a thread dedicated to it. I've only just come across this project called Thievious thanks to a post by clearing at TTLG. Although I was doubtful at first (inspired by TDS??) I was suitably impressed at the in-game videos and the potential that this could have, although the title of the mod sounds a little silly so I've suggested 'Thieves' would make a better name for a co-op Thief game. Now, I know that the TDM team aren't considering any multiplayer development, and most TDM fans (myself included) are primarily interested in a single player experience, but co-op would be a worthwhile addition to TDM gameplay since thieves would often (in the real world and in this universe) collaborate and are not always the lone wolf characters that most of us associate with Thief. I would hate to see this co-op project fail to progress because it's just a one man tech demo at the moment with no real support, and at the same time, it would be disappointing if it were to be completed, only to have one or two playable maps. My question then is, does the team agree that it would be mutually beneficial for Thievious and TDM if this project were taken under your wing, so to speak, so that if it were eventually completed it could benefit from being able to play TDM missions (some of which would presumably need to be modified for co-op support)? Ideally, what would be great is if at some point in the future, you could launch TDM missions from within the launcher in co-op mode, which would use the multiplayer work demonstrated in the Thievious project videos. More than anything, the reason I suggest this is that I hate seeing resources duplicated in different projects, when sharing those resources could speed up the development of both. I imagine that if Nightblade had been undertaken in Doom III it might still be around because they could have shared some of the resource and development work that went into TDM.

I didn't know that first trick setting up the base, so thanks for that.

  7. Love your signature over at the Eidos forums. Hahaha!

      Maijstral

I don't normally even use signatures, but I've used a few to voice my displeasure at what EM is doing to Thief. I'll probably stick with that one until I lose interest in visiting the EM forums.

  8. DOWNLOAD THE UPDATED FILE WITH TEXTURE SETS AND EXAMPLE PROJECTS INCLUDING LOTS OF EXTRA'S HERE: http://www.moddb.com/mods/grimm-quest-for-the-gatherers-key (As soon as it's Authed by Moddb). Or alternatively, grab the attachment on this post (and rename it to a ZIP file). REMARKS: - I will take bug fix requests and I will take feature requests. Bugs should be fixed quickly, but features might take a while (several weeks). - Just remember this is a BETA but it has a lot more features than the old D3 Map Builder. Remember to save often, but otherwise it's pretty stable. You can now load/save your projects, you can now set manual lighting. Let me know if there are errors. You can now even place random monsters. Almost getting to the point where it's more than just a mapbuilder, but also a random mission generator. The map builder in action in this example video showing the entire process from start to finish: I'm happy with any remarks or questions!Release.zip.txt

  9. Back To Saturn X Episode 2, a megawad for Doom 2, has a public beta available. It is VERY VERY good. http://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/69960-back-to-saturn-x-episode-2-public-beta-1/

  10. This is a DOOM mod that I came across, I don't find it offensive, but lots of people consider it offensive. It does introduce some blasphemous concepts, and it's also a total gibbing festival, with tons of blood and gore. The story is basically that you are a bad, bad person. You kill police, innocent people, old ladies, Christians, Super Mario, Barney, pop culture icons, pigs, sheep, chickens, doctors, priests, and many more. The player then ends up going to Heaven, killing St. Peter along with slaughtering Heaven's population, being confronted by God, which the character also then fights and kills God. Then the player gets sent to Hell, fights demons, Nazi's, sinners, and that's about as far as I got with it. It feels as if there are endless amounts of weapons, you smoke weed and drink beer, they act as power ups and give your character super jumping, agility and endurance skills for a limited amount of time. The arsenal, textures + enemies are a borrowed combo from Doom, Blood, Age of Empires, Duke Nukem 3d, Shadow Warrior, Heretic, Hexen, some other games I couldn't recognize, as well as hosts of original content. The mod is from Italy, and is in Italian, but there is English translation version available for texts (but not audio). It's not really an intelligent game per se, but it's appealing to me as a violent, old school gamer styled game with some basic but fun level design. I've been playing it, and figured I'd share with you guys, since TDM is a gaming community, and most of us here probably love Doom for just the same reasons, i.e. when it came out it was considered the most violent, gory, blasphemous and offensive game to reach a large audience and stir the pot. http://youtu.be/asCGbVx5XJk
