    Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.

    I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card. What is the fastest reasonably priced card for Blender cycles/CUDA operations. Note that a graphics card absolutely creams a CPU in terms of rendering speed (10x+ faster). I won't touch anything with less than 4 GB. My current card is 1 GB and going to a 2 GB card seems stupid and wasteful.

    Gah! My new graphics card came with a coupon that gives a free game. Of course it has to be redeemed, right. The requirement to get the game was to use shop.ubi.com and install something called Uplay. Yugh. What a piece of shit. I feel dirty and filthy.

      Uplay is the worst experience someone can have at the moment when it comes to game distribution programs. If GFWL was still around though, it would be the 2nd worst really.

      Gather round boys and girls and I'll tell you of a time when hardware came with games on a disk, in the box! It was so amazing because you were able to start playing in <5 minutes! Sadly, it was not meant to be.

      Yep, remember those times. I wish that legislation would force the manufacturers to give the consumer the possibility to choose which DRM platform they will attach their gift game to. I would have happily added a new game to steam.

      It seems like the Intel linux drivers have made a lot of progress in terms of speed lately. This is great! I've a feeling Valve is partly the reason for this.

      @Biker, FSP is one of the companies that makes good power supplies. (Its all they do) If you mean, buy a PC Power & Cooling... um, no. Occasionally even the good ones have flaky issues that get by QC

    I'm not sure how many people get stuttering with this game but there is one solution which works for me in this and Doom 3. In the same folder as your config file make a file called "autoexec.cfg" and open with a text editor and input: seta com_fixedtic "1" I played Doom 3 several times over the years before I found that setting. This could help people new to the game(s). As a side-note there is also a similar fix for quake 1 that i am currently using with dark places which is: set sys_ticrate 0.0166667 I'm running at 60hz

    We are talking blurry DOF, but also chains getting pixellated. Up close things look fine, but at a distance of 4-5 meters, it is like a heavy DOF filter is applied to everything. All text is almost unreadable in-game, and only moderately better in the menu. It also refuses to save my Anti-Aliasing settings, reverting to OFF whenever I restart the game. I haven't tried ALL settings, but unless there is a specific sweet spot I need to hit, the changes are minimal, if present at all. I tried to search for some threads, but the only one I found with anything of substance needed me to mess around in the console, which I don't know how to activate. So hell, tell me how to do that while you are at it. I never had this problem before 2.0. On the plus side, it runs real smooth, which is a first for my low-end rig. Thanks. EDIT: Fixed. "Delete your darkmod.cfg file and then fire up the game and try and set the correct resolution for your monitor" as per Bikerdude.

      I've been considering reinstalling TDS for a wile now... I've still got my original CDs. Have these guys fixed the bug where you get stuck floating? Last time I played TDS, that happened and I was unable to get out of it, so I ragequit.

      You can surpass that bug by drawing your bow, performing a shot, and draw your blackjack when the bow is tensioned, to abort the bow shot. I'm hoping it's fixed in the Gold patch too though. Alongside the thing where you move sideways, when peeking left or right.

    My new PC came pre-installed with twin GTX580 graphics cards. Using just one, Dark Mod plays fine with excellent performance. When I checked Nividia's control panel I see only one card was enabled so I enabled both. Now in Dark Mod, in-game I see what I think is normal res but low colour, perhaps only 256 colours is my guess. I took a screenshot but as I pressed the key, the display showed correctly for a moment then went back to low colours and, of course, the saved screen looks OK. The only colour settings I can find are for the desktop and video playing. I got the latest Nvidia drivers yesterday. Any suggestions where I might look to fix this?
