  1. The subtitles of The Lady02 vocal set is now available for eventual incorporation into TDM: testSubtitlesLady02.pk4 Lady02 is another noblewoman, somewhat newer and so unmentioned on the wiki. She is a drawling speaker, often indecisive, and given to long musings. Favorite topics are how boring life is for the wealthy, and how to keep men of the household and the maids apart. Lady02 required heavier and more complex use of .srt files than most AI characters, due to: Her slow, rambling monologues Some of the underlying .ogg files were poorly trimmed at the end, so needed compensatory .srt timings. I appreciate the assistance of @datiswous in this effort. Statistics In file fm_root.subs there are 195 inlines, including: 25 with an explicit linebreak, intending 2 lines 170 without Only 1 of these needed an explicit duration extension, to the capped value 0.50 seconds, for 17-20 cps There are 116 SRTs, including: 78 with 1 message (to correct trim problem) 24 with 2 messages 7 with 3 messages 2 with 4 messages 3 with 5 messages 1 with 8 messages 1 with 9 messages Of the 187 total SRT messages, there are: 90 with an explicit linebreak, intending 2 lines 97 without In all, there are 311 voice clips with subtitles, showing 382 messages. Corresponding Excel File Lady02Subtitles.xlsx This is based on Version 6 of the Excel Template for TDM bark subtitles.
  2. That sort of tone doesn't fly in our forums.
  3. Yeah, I agree. I edited that to my post above before you and FrostSalamander posted.
  4. This post has a series of progressive hints:
  5. Here's a quick hack based on your good work. I know you don't want to do without backgrounds but I couldn't help it. EDIT: Download removed. Check this post for the latest version.
  6. I would use this massive list for any fan missions, it includes campaigns too: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148090 There are a lot of Fan Missions for the picking, I myself go for the lesser known ones and the short variety, because sometimes they hide a gem or two. Just like jaxa, I'm a bit outdated after the temporal retirement, but I do remember some amazing campaigns like "The Black Frog". If you intend to play The Black Frog, you should play the first two of the L'Arsene series missions, it's how I did it myself. Also, yes, L'Arsene are a fantastic series. The first mission of L'Arsene is a "rough draft", author was a bit new to Thief level making, but still great either way, after the 3rd you will see how his skill increased by a massive amount.
  7. Thanks! I am also unable to reproduce this one. Please post your Darkmod.cfg
  8. Unfortunately, TDM forum deletes the separator between the numbers. So I have to guess where one number ends and the next starts Also, user can rename screenshot manually, or push it through something that would rename it automatically. Thenwe won't see coordinates on screenshot address on forums.
  9. tdm_show_viewpos cvar and screenshot_viewpos command: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/22310-212-viewpos-on-player-hud-and-screenshots/
  10. Well I've finished it in the end. Overall an enjoyable and hugely impressive mission with my favourite area being the Cathedral. My problem with this mission was that I felt everything was too big, first the sewers although not too much of a maze I found them frustrating because if you didn't find the next item you needed to proceed it could take you an age to find that item with almost everywhere looking the same I found myself too easily lose my bearings. The Town was easier but I felt went on for too long, as again the forest was too big for my personal preference, again I spent an age backtracking looking for that elusive cave or side pathway. As for the Cathedral I found that to be the perfect size, I was expecting after the town to come across a monstrously sized building that went on for ever so was pleasantly surprised and it looked great. Yes I found everything in the end (with a few hits from the forum) but I get greater satisfaction from missions that tended to be less spread out, smaller being better IMO, others I'm sure prefer the opposite. The puzzles were spot on, I'm not that keen on tough mind bendingly painful puzzles but everything in this mission was fair and reasonable, with books and hints easily found and near to the actual puzzles themselves, so thank you for that. I didn't achieve the loot target (about 400g short) thankfully that was an optional goal, and I only achieved 1 good deed, obviously my experience as a TDM players is sub par, I really ought play more. Anyway thanks for one whole day lost wandering around your monster sized mission, it was great fun overall and I look forward to your next mission.
  11. Relax @Näkki, it's great to hear you enjoyed the game. My personal expectations were just a bit different when I read the Steam page, although the various trailers should have been a warning that stealth maybe wasn't the biggest priority of the devs. From the Steam page: "Weird west legends meet eldritch horror in BLOOD WEST, an immersive stealth FPS." Also "Blood West is a stealth FPS inspired by the genre classics such as the Thief series (whose fans will be happy to hear the voice of Stephen Russell, the actor voicing the master-thief Garrett, returning here as the protagonist), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, or - from the contemporary catalog - Hunt: Showdown. The gameplay rewards the careful approach: scouting the area, stalking your enemies, and striking from the shadows. Can you figure out a way to clear a fort full of ghouls and monsters without raising an alarm?" From my personal experience I think the game is predominantly Hunt: Showdown, a bit of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and a very small portion Thief. Stealth is very unforgiving and makes it almost impossible early game when there are various enemies around, but hey maybe I just suck at it. I don't see Deus Ex in it, unless the skill leveling is the Deus Ex part for you and then I have to disagree with you, as that seems like the trait system in Hunt: Showdown. Edit: What I also understood from the Steam forums is that the original VA was dropped close before the release of the full version and replaced by Russell with no real explanation from the devs why this was done.
  12. The devs didn't title this thread, and @datiswous said they're attempting to mislead people by using Russell's name and a retro style to make it resemble Thief, which is cynical. I grew up on forums like I'm sure anyone who likes a game from '98 did. I actually left the Discord immediately after joining it because it was more off-topic doom-posting than anything relevant to the mod. I thought the forums might be better, but it's mostly just grown men yelling at clouds and telling strangers how mature they are, and a few brave souls actually developing anything. Depressing place, I'll just stick to enjoying new missions every 6 months without an account.
  13. True, but, 1. this thread is called "Western stealth FPS with Stephen Russell", and, 2. nothing you said changes anything for me. The gameplay still doesn't look like something I'd enjoy. And, if you really think this forum is cynical, then you don't visit forums much. Actually, the majority of the users are are pretty mature, unlike in other forums.
  14. I don't think they're trying to make anyone believe it's 1800s Thief: the trailer is mostly blowing zombies up and away with an explosive Sharps and a coach gun. I appreciate that this is a forum for a Thief fan game, but from what little I've read it seems like you guys are very cynical here. Games should be celebrated in their own right, and not how they match up with a 25 y/o game because they share a VA. I played it all the way through thanks to this post and had a great time: it's part Resident Evil, part Deus Ex and part Hunt Showdown, all of which are fantastic. I'd have liked more enemy and weapon variety, but it was a very fun 8 hours.
  15. Agree with you 100%. Maybe wait for a big sale. After not playing Thief for such a long time it never gave me the same goosebump feeling I got from playing The Black Parade. Blood West gets repetitive very fast and for me the difficulty is bit too much (but I also suck in soulslike games, so it might just be me).
  16. Graven looks interesting. I hope that it IS interesting though. Added to my long wishlist...
  17. So, if I understand you, no Thief Gold FM does sound and text notifications of completed objectives? The missions in The Black Parade surely did. I'm completely confused now. I was sure that original Thief Gold had those objective complete notifications (at least the sound). Reading this thread suggests otherwise though: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132977
  18. skacky was hired by Arkane Lyon the past year. prior to that he also worked on Wrath under 3D Realms, surely channelling his Quake roots. Digital Nightfall however has been working under Arkane for some time longer and confirmed to do level design for Dishonoured 2 minimum. she was a pretty major figurehead in the earliest days of Thief mapping. not at all involved in Black Parade or anything else in a long time though.
  19. I don't know him personally, but he has a quite long history in Quake mapping, too. I played various Quake custom maps by him, and they were excellent. I didn't know he is a level designer at Arkane now. Wow.
  20. Thank you very much, I had this curiosity for a very long time. Indeed, those screenshots are impressive.
  21. Right at the bottom of my "must play long ass campaigns" list is Patriot, so I guess it counts
  22. Just FYI: You just replied to a more than 4 and a half year old post. Posted by a member who was last seen online here more than 4 and a half years ago.
  23. Thank you so much for this post! I have been trying to bind the lights/mesh/flare to the strobe light for a couple of days now and not getting anywhere. I can't find any tutorials or explanation about doing this anywhere. Using the DoomEdit specifically to bind all my lights/meshes with Shift-K and then returning back to DarkRadiant appears to be the only solution. Of course, then it looks like a big ? mark in Dark Radiant, but I can live with it just to get the effect working.
  24. Sometimes when I try to post comment in bugtracker page that I opened days ago, bugtracker says my session is expired and my comment is lost.

I have discovered plausible workaround. When I see expiration message, I open browser's dev tools, go to network tab and refresh page. Then I select POST request and copy my text from its content.

shows what the old quake engine was capable of even source had roots in the quake1 engine though the renderer got updated quite a lot with shaders etc. xash3d fwgs is an opensource interpretation of the old goldsource engine and plays pretty much all the older titles not only on PC but on phones and tablets as well, it can also be built natively on linux since it relies on SDL2. The original author uncle mike long since dropped the project but the fwgs guys have made some strides in enabling the missing renderers so now it runs in both opengl and software (no d3d yet). There also a modkit enabling a more modern renderer with shader effects (XashXt) but for most parts it cannot be used out of the box with the older games (only intended for those who want to create new mods). the engine itself is a strange mix of a C based renderer and C++ based client code, the funky thing is you can actually override the engines old renderer from the clientside with something quite a bit more modern. The old renderer got updated with a VBO engine part but it turned out to be buggy as hell and was later disabled (broken flashlight / geometry).
