Ever been playing a game, and the NPCs in a "public" level flip out and start attacking eachother, even when they're not supposed to? I saw that today and it was funny as hell. Oddly enough they still did not attack me.

I've also seen it where an NPC steps on A-2 (the spider bot). A-2 does not appreciate this, so it attacks the NPC. Then near-by security forces attack A-2... and all hell breaks loose... lol

I remember one time I was going through the "mole people" tunnels in vanilla Deus Ex, and somehow one of the passive NSF must have gotten hurt by the cat that wanders the area. Suddenly all the NSF in the tunnel were running around chasing and firing at the one cat, and having a lot of trouble killing it because their "marksmanship" was never intended to hit cat-sized targets!

There was this funny Deus Ex website, where a fan told you how to cause crazy things to happen. He had UNATCO troopers attacking the vacuum cleaners and stuff. hahaha http://www.it-he.org/deus.htm

I wish there was a way we could play against each other on line.
-
Neat, but a gimmick.
-
True but its Chess meets Thief! The best gimmick ever!

Basejumping or airplane? I've done the later and it is an experience not to be missed. Very addictive!

Ah 1.21 DOES have an FM loader, but you have to activate it in an ini file first.
-
Do you like the built-in FM loader any better than DarkLoader? (keep in mind I haven't played T2 in a while or used NewDark yet)
-
I've never used a mission loader before - it seems easy and it all works nicely!
-
The wonderful feeling when the map refuses to start because it is stumped by things in the script that has been there THE WHOLE TIME without problems before!

So I've got no idea why those trivial things messed with me...I could have spared me some anger if the game had just told me that something IN THE MAP was the cause...
-
yep, been there, banged fists on table...
-
I sometimes get paranoid that I have something off screen accidentally highlighted and inadvertently move or delete it. Is there a way to dump a log of all DR changes to find what's different? I guess another thing you could do is run the new & old .map files through a "find differences" text tool.

I never got into BSD, though I've installed it once or twice. This is another reason to check it out.
-
@Sir Tafs: +1 (zillion)
-
The BSD's arn't for everyone, but within their goals, simple code and mailing lists lies a lot of goodness and simplicity. I love the underdogs. Anyhoo work will be Linux friendly too. Portability is a cornerstone for good code.

(We can leave the thread for journalism corruption, but just on this...) Then the issue in academia is money flowing to the more corruptable fields like science & engineering with the big corporate grants & revolving door with staff. The humanities might not get that, but OTOH they are getting pressured to "justify their existence" financially. I could probably agree it's rife in almost any human field though, as long as there are incentives there will be corruption.
-
Or then we have the "uncorruptable" critical academics, but then they're basing their work on Derrida or Marx and are so detached from reality they throw their credibility out the window. It's good to be critically detached, not so good to be derailed from reality. My position in law sometimes is something like a critical realism, but it's practically an orphan position. (You want to protect victims *and* think science works??? Wha...?)
-
Who is uncorruptable anyways? I cannot convince even myself that I would be uncorruptable in every situation. And I perceive myself to be situated in the more-reliable-than-50%-of-the-general-population side in the gaussian distribution curve of corruption. Problematic, yes?

Yeah that's the worst thing I've read in months...

Everytime I let puss out now I sound off a klaxon which scares all the birds in my garden away. It pisses off the neighbours though.
-
What's the use of neighbours anyway - nobody likes them and they're mostly assholes.

For the record, I get voice actors from people doing vlogs on YouTube, so I know what I'm getting & they're already predisposed to participate.

Would be cool if you could get this girl back and finish the job
