Well, I have internet access for 1 or 2 possible more days, and then I'm jumping ship into the unknown. My living situation has become somewhat hostile, and I need to bail. My finances are in shambles.

I'm uploading my TDM FM to a file storage site just in case, but it looks like i'll be several hundred miles away before the week is through, with only potential income sources awaiting me, nothing solid for sure.

So I bid you all a fond adieu, I'll be back again someday. I hope to regain residential internet access inside the next 3 weeks to a month if all goes perfectly. If not, I'll probably just check in now and again when I can get internet access for a few minutes or so. But it looks pretty grim, trust me.

Thanks for all the laughs and the memories. Its been really great, and a fun, motivating learning experience while it lasted , and I hope to someday release my FM or make some other worthy contributions to the mod if possible on some far-off day. Take care all, I'll talk to you all soon, I hope.

Ah you're smart and you'll land on your feet. See you tomorrow or soon thereafter. No matter what, though, keep being smart; if you continue getting fucked over keep your focus on those truly responsible: those who have the power to fuck things up as bad as they are or fix things up and have done the prior ...in between putts and drives and swigs of brandy.

Anyway, see you soon.

Bummer. sad.gif Hope you land on your feet and all works out okay for you. Guess I'll just add... be sure to always look for anything positive even in a bad situation (not trying to sound ominous yo laugh.gif). Good luck regardless, and looking forward to all sorts of new FM ideas you've cooked up with all this new found spare time you'll probably have. smile.gif

Take care, and all the best to you.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Whoa, this sounds bad..

Don't do anything stupid.

Even in all my bitter cynicism, I've come to realize that most things end in a good way, eventually in some weird sense.

So maybe the prospect isn't that bad in the end.

Good luck and take care.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
