Interesting Horror game using Doom 2

Hard to believe that's sitting on top of Doom 2.

Perhaps at first, but isnt every ID engine a further iteration of a past ID engine? Basically meaning that you could replicate some features of even Doom 3 within Doom if you do enough coding.

Anyway, looks impressive for the most part graphically, especially since this is based on the doom engine. However, I wasn't really impressed with the jump scare at the end of the video. I liked the stalker-like inventory system, however.

I'll give it a shot when it comes out, seems like it has some promise!

It's the Gzdoom engine that's based on and evolved from the original doom engine. I guess featurewise it is propably more on the level of the quake engine.

The mod looks interesting. I already have Gzdoom installed for another great mod called Brutal Doom (play it if you like fast shooters), so I'll definitely try this out when it's released.

well technically that's what coding in an open source environment is all about, you can actually code anything outside the initial scope of the original creators of the engine. so when people say, this engine can't do that, or that... its totally bs you can always code it in. the only advantage of an open source engine is that you're already given a lot of work done, and in the case of ID tech it's quality code what you're given.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.
