Glad that helped.

I updated our Performance wiki with a few more 2.06 tweaks:

http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Performance_Tweaks

so you can try a few changes from there as well.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

I can't get my TDM updated, not only the updater is endlessly repeating itself, the main updating process does the same! From the log I have the feeling that it can't detect which version I have so it just starts all over again after downloading. It looks like it did update about 70% of the files, but why won't it stop?

For mappers having problem with reloadimages and screen going black in 2.06 (http://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=4697): you have to turn off Soft shadows (Multi-core support and Uncapped FPS can be on), and paste this into your .cfg:

r_nvidiaOverride "0" // for nvidia GPUs

r_softShadowsQuality "0"
r_useFBO "0"
r_useGLSL "0"

That will restore "the 2.05 look" and will allow you to test your materials. Not the ideal solution, but the only one I know that works for now.

I got the same problem at a other system, it still downloads tdm_update_2.05_to_2.06.zip.

I solved of it by

  1. removing the read-only permission on the tdm folder, give myself write permissions. (as always and fixed with my tdm installer)
  2. run tdm (so tdm creates some new files)
  3. run updater again to download some new files.
  4. rerun updater to check if everything is ok.

start tdm Check if you have already install 2.06 (see version number at the bottom leftside of TDM's main menu.)

If not:

  1. Open windows explorer and navigate to your tdm folder.
  2. rightclick tdm folder > properties > tab general > uncheck readonly > ok > check checkbox all for underneath folder and files
  3. rightclick tdm folder > properties > tab security > edit > add your account to it and check all allow-permissions checkboxes.
  4. Log out and log in.
  5. run tdm-updater.
  6. close tdm-updater
  7. run tdm to check version number. close tdm
  8. run tdm updater
  9. end

@TDM updater packager:

Please recalculate the hashes.

And create a script that removes the Visual C++ redist installers after it is installed.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
