  2. Yes, that's intentional. The warnings don't mean anything, that's just a quirk of the materials applied to them. You may also notice they are slightly transparent near glass materials, which is another strange aspect of them that I decided to keep for aesthetic reasons. This is not intentional, no. This is actually the first time I'm seeing this, but I can confirm that it appears messed up in DR. It appeared normally to testers and doesn't show up in any of the Let's Plays of my FM except for the latest one about a month ago, so I'll have to investigate if an update of some sort may have caused this.   3. Yep can confirm. If Jerry (or the player for that matter) gets anywhere near the key it goes flying off the desk. Think it must have come up now because I adjusted his path nodes slightly. The fix is in, will release tomorrow.

  5. Funny. I scripted an FM once about an author abandoning an FM, and the NPCs are just left there to fend for themselves and find meaning in their existence.

  7. This was super, really enjoyed it. Although I somehow missed about 1500 loot and 2 of the secrets. I can't quite put my finger on it but there is something old-school TDM about it that gave me a really nostalgic feeling. Great example of a small and focused FM and hope to see more from you!
  8. If you find an author has chosen an over-bright ambient ( according to your own preferences ) you can lower the r_ambientGamma value to taste. Additional info:
  9. The Global illumination feels a bit off imo. Considering the full moon it looks quite dark.
  10. I have just played the update part way through on Expert. The fireplace lever is now sorted, but I too have a problem with the jeweler's shop key.

    Yeah, I should grab a 2 TB SATA 2.5" SSD for my OptiPlex but I think I missed the price dip (when they were like $50-60). Should have cheaped out and grabbed a Team Group.

  17. I noticed something during the Stone 24 work. There is an opportunity to add 2 new characters to the custom TDM codepage. I've identified some reasonable candidates... Paired upper/lower case: Ğ/ğ, with breve (cup) Ľ/ľ, with abbreviated caron shown as stroke or apostrophe İ/ı, namely I with dot above / i without dot and individual candidates: ẞ, the relatively new capital form of German "sharp S" ¡, the Spanish inverted exclamation mark đ, the Barred d EDIT: No, this is already defined at 0x90 I'd like to hear feedback about what characters to use. @Petike the Taffer, your experience with 2019 translations is particularly germane. Details about these candidates, and how the change might be rolled out, follow.
  18. @Frost_Salamander I did a second run through a few days ago v1 to see if I would have the lever/case frob issue again and I did. But I also had a second issue which I was going to tell you about but then we had a freak windstorm Saturday night that knocked out our electricity and it was just restored an hour ago. I figured it was a freak thing, but maybe that's what happened to irisx also.

  22. got it in black friday deal about half price and i was looking for a mechanic keyboard with good reviews so nobrainer on my part. the wireless mode i actually dont use at all i just tested it to see if it was ok and it does work but with some lag if i move it even 1m from the reciever. plugged in it works really well though . might get me one of the full size keychrons for the developer machine as the keyboard while working fine is an extremely old but sturdy (ps2 model) .
  23. Nice, I'm a big fan, have the Keychron Q6 and V6 (full size). The new pro and max versions of the keyboards use wireless dongles or bluetooth if you want. I never did understand the point of wireless keyboards that just stay at a desk though, just plug it in.

      Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
      They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
      Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

      Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

      Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

      I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

      briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
      What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
      I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
