In three weeks the Beginner's Map Pack will come out. We'll see what is in there. Hopefully some good noobie missions!
-
I spent three full days working on mine, but not even close to finished.
-
And Ive been helping a few of the contestants with their maps. As well as some of my own.

What to do with an 8 *megabyte* SD card? (besides laugh at it)

I think you're 3 orders of magnitude off Biker.
-
My fully installed T1/2/3 folders are just over 9GB, so compressed they would fit on said card.
-
its megabytes not gigabytes. unless you've invented 1125x compression!
-
I'm now running my OS from a read-only root-fs to make it even more secure. Var and tmp were linked to the home directory to prevent breakage.

Ever been in a multiplayer game and had 26 frags, but if you add up the scores of your teammates, they only total four? (ignoring the guy with the negative score)

I'm usually the guy with -2. Damn you, wall bouncing my grenades

I had 137 kills and 11 death in a round of Battlefield 3 a couple of days ago.
-
BF 3 sounds great, but I dislike Origin. Did someone try out the Razor-Patch? (I mean original BF3 but without Origin thanks to the patch)

You know you've gone somewhere the designer did not intend when the footsteps stop, you can walk to the skybox, and you can't get back without reloading.

Ahh the joy of fixing a Core 2 Duo that runs like a K6-2...

Looks like the L2 cache of your Core 2 is disabled. It's almost impossible though, unless you made it in BIOS by yourself or your PC's CMOS battery is dying and, because of this, corrupted the CMOS BIOS values. But, like I said, it's almost impossible. So, what about some virus?
-
Oh yeah, this thing was loaded with malware (its not mine). I got rid of (most) of it. You never know if it is all gone unless you reload the OS though. Stuff like admin tools and all files were hidden. I cleaned that up as well.
-
Those damn viruses and trojans! I suppose right now you're thinking about to change your antivirus .

Player tries to go down a ladder by facing the opposite direction and then curses ladders in FPP games. lol

Knoppix is a great USB system. It even fits on a card the size of my fingernail and includes FireFox, Gimp, a graphical desktop, & OpenOffice.org.

I never realized there was such a great Duke3d mapping community. One map takes you from a helicopter, to a coastal fight, to a hotel, to under the ocean.

There are some maps for Duke3d that surpass the original. Its editor is the easiest developer-level editor of any game I've seen. Even clever elementary schoolchildren were making models of their schools.
-
There were a lot of those "my house"/"my school" maps. With lots of pigcops and explosions. It also helped that D3D was one of the best games of its kind.
So, Glyph Seeker, I say give it a try! It's just a few bucks, and there are some very impressive graphical enhancements out there for it.
-
I came to think of the Build engine to be quite risky. Lots of times the maps got corrupted, usually by something bad I did. I remember that one should NOT remove sectors by collecting all the vertexes on one spot Don't know if it was because of that but my schoolmap got corrupted

Realized the LED on my external HDD enclosure is so bright it can be seen on the wall across my apartment.

You could do a defragmentation and your neighbours gonna think you party hard!

Everyday I'm defraggin'

And someone can probably see what is read from the HD: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ieee02-optical.pdf

Brand new POS TV randomly displays garbage and restarts while connected to VGA. How does this trash make it past QC? If it turns on, ship it!

Not sure. Upon researching this on the web, I see lots of people complaining about the same tv/problems from forever ago. In a connected era, how do they get away with continuing to sell broken products?
-
If you're lucky, you may be able to feed it a new firmware, possibly via thumb drive if it has a USB port.
-
Interesting idea. I figured it was a problem with the power supply. Indeed it does have a USB port.

Its funny how great even old games like Unreal look on a 32 in monitor in 1080P.

You're making me want to dig out Clive Barker's Undying again!

Alas, the Undying's textures are not as perfect as the Unreal's ones, but, of course, Undying is a perfect game for me.

Well, I stuck another fan in the side of the case and it brought the card down by 10 C. It idles at 60 now. Guess all we can do is try to keep it cool.
-
I put mine 8800 in the oven a few months ago. Still runs smoothly

heh, well done that man :-D

We build hard drives that last a decade, but we can't build an air matress that lasts over a year.
