  1. Unsure if this has been talked about before, but TDM uses Windows to configure its gamma and brightness. This means that after you exit the game, your gamma and brightness carry over into the Windows OS. This is bad IMO. I usually like to configure my gamma and brightness according to my game's environment.
  2. Did a great find today: Quake 4 mods for dummies. Now online readable. http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/5576-book-quake-4-mods-for-dummies/?p=412644

      Protip: if you never log off and stay for ever, there is no nostalgia when you visit.

      Haha yeah, I feel like that from time to time. Good to see you around.

  4. I noticed the following problem when I started playing The Siege Shop, but it may have occurred earlier, and I just wasn't paying attention. Whenever I leave TDM then launch it again, my gamma and/or brightness (hard to tell exactly) increases. My gamma setting remains at 0.8 and my brightness setting remains at 0.5, yet everything is much brighter. If I adjust the settings without resetting them, there is no change in the actual brightness of the screen. So in order to have the gamma and brightness settings that I want I must reset them, then adjust them every time I launch TDM. Does anyone know how I can fix this so I don't have to adjust my gamma/brightness settings every time I play? I have screen shots that I would like to post, but I don't know how to post pictures in the forums. Would someone please teach me how to post pics in the forums whether you need them to understand my dilemma or not. Thank you

      I've found it difficult to find where TDM is listed as #1 on Greenlight. This page ( https://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/ ) has no ranked listing. This one ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858048394 ) has no visible rank or stats page. Is it my script blocker?

  5. Hey, Every time I've try to use the Full Editor when PM'ing someone, and every single time I get an error. Whoever is in charge of the forum, is it possible that this could be fixed? Thanks Neon

  7. I've played around with the brightness and gamma settings but I'm not sure what the end result should look like. I don;t know if my settings are to dark or to light. Getting this right is important for the atmosphere of the game. Any pointers?
  8. Started playing TDM this week and I've got to say it is damn awesome. Although there is one problem: For me to see anything at all outside of direct torch light in TDM itself I need to set the Gamma and Brightness values relatively high. When I end the game those values are not reset and my desktop is blindingly bright, so every time after closing the game I need to open my settings and readjust the values. I am playing TDM on debian testing and a NVidia GeForce GTS 250. I normally run the game from a terminal and the last line is always a memory access error. If I should be reporting bugs elsewhere I am very sorry and thankful for directions. [Edit]Urgh, I just now saw the support forum. Obviously I am blind.
  9. Happy New Year everyone. I read Sotha's skybox tutorial and made myself a cubemap of a wooded hilly backdrop in Terragen. It renders lovely in game, except that it's too bright and saturated. I adjusted the lighting and colour in terragen for a bright moonlit scene, so the land looked right -- darker than the sky and with desaturated colour. But when put in in game the non-black parts of the scene gain a lot of saturation and brightness. Ambient light doesn't seem to have an effect -- or at least, moving my skybox in and out of the range of my ambient_world light doesn't affect it, and my ambient_world is set to only 8. All that makes up my test skybox is an info_portalsky surrounded by a cube of caulk brushes with my cubemap on the inside surfaces. I have no light in there that I could dim or remove :-/ Is it one of these parameters in the material file that's adding the illumination? I copied these from the tutorial, but I haven't been able to find out what "texgen skybox" does, for example. textures/skies/custom/yoursky { qer_editorimage textures/custom/skies/yoursky.tga noFragment noshadows nooverlays forceOpaque // so transparent windows can draw on top of it { blend add // so transparent windows can draw on top of it cameraCubeMap env/custom/yoursky forceHighQuality texgen skybox texgen wobblesky .0 .0 .0 } }
