Almost what I felt about 2 years ago when I was at work, nothing to to at the time, surfed the web for Thief I editing and stumbled across a mod that turned Doom 3 into Thief...And saw some videos on Youtube. Then I was psyched as hell to get home and download and map!

I think people hear about tdm and go "Oh it's too good to be true"... When they try it - they kick themselves; "I should have got into this years ago!". =-D

Guess it's good to show of as many different things as possible so that everyone can pick his beloved one out and join The Dark Mod. You can prove it in the text link from Springheel, where the guy said, he doesn't like those undead missions but was very excited about the mansion robbery. Or of course like Siyah said: not the characters, but the mapping.

I became a betamapper 8 months before release and *I* felt like I was coming in so late and should have joined in years earlier, lol.

But my earlier laptop couldn't have played it, so I got in as soon as I could play it.

So I understand his feeling.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

I could only play the mod about a month before its release. Quickly installed the St. Lucia demo, and even started experimenting with the editor (this was after my Dromed project to construct a mine-based mission, then a small rooftop one crashed and burned.)

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Dromed isn't really unfriendly, it is just a bit grumpy.

Perhaps you just need to meet the right door in your life, Biker... ;-)

Right. If you got into it, it is okay. The folks did create two games with it =)

But in my eyes it is a bit messy on larger missions.

I also regret for waiting long time to give a try on darkmod. Actually, I visited main page from time to time, but characters were looking cold, and not really interesting. When saintlucia released, I was amazed by beauity of the city. That's the reason why I started darkmod mapping. :)

 *tear in my eye*

I love seeing TDM posts like this on Edios' forums. It always makes me wonder how many times they've brought up TDM at the business meetings.

Yeah that's the same thing I did. IIRC I had the base of my first mission already built out just using the St. Lucia base and became a betamapper because there was no good reason not to at that point (and not have the full assets).

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
