"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

https://www.pcmag.com/news/windows-11-home-edition-requires-a-microsoft-account-to-complete-setup

Society is going to sleepwalk into a world where consumers get locked out of their personal computer and all information contained therein if their Microsoft, Google, or Facebook account is ever suspended or closed for any reason. And I am going to die with laughter and say "I told you so" when that day comes.

This is one reason of many why I use linux.

Well, I maintain a dual-boot machine with Windoze on it as well, because I want to play games and linux isn't quite there yet for all the games I want to play. But it's getting closer.

Dual boot in any case is the best option, regarding compatibility and some other reasons. Whether we want to or not, Windows has some advantages over Linux in some aspects.
Well at the moment I am quite happy with my Windows 10 (tuned 😏) and the 11 anyway I will not be able to use. Today the update menu had a Pop-up warning me that Windows 11 is not compatible with my CPU (a good laptop that is a bit more than a year old), because Windows 11 is not compatible with AMD Radeon (???), that is, In 2025, when they stop supporting Windows 10 (they say, well, I belive more in 2028-2029), changing to Linux, yes or yes.

When I was a young man my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have him around. As I grew older I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in such a short time.
