No politician. Politicians do not tell their real stance towards things. This one did present their stance quite clearly.

There are no words: "Tetris, the block-stacking game that comes in near the top of many lists of greatest games ever, is being made into a live-action, feature-length, "sci-fi epic" motion picture, The Tetris Company announced today."

The Tetris Company is a real thing, and I support it because for several years, Alexey Payitnov didn't receive proper royalties from his game. So he deserves whatever money he can get for it.
The movie is still a bizarre idea, though.

Surely, it is time to scrap the mission, then.

Yes! While we are at it, we can also close the newbie DR thread if giving advise with good intentions is considered patronizing.

No offense was taken.

Hey guys! Start a thread in the OT section for this please. I'm also very interested in this (I bet everyone are or have to be). I'm not a specialist but I've also got the feeling that the credit raters create a self-implementing prophecy to ruin us all.
-
Certainly I think the UK has been exceptionally weak about bank regulation post the 2008 crash. Europe proper was making some serious moves towards some tax disincentives for bank naughtiness, but the UK didn't want to play nice with the other kids for fear of disgruntling our City of London finance overlords. And when it comes to regulation in a global market, lowest common denominator wins.
I know Gordon Brown was helluva unpopular, but in hindsight, this new lot we've go...

The joy of Steam: can't play Deus Ex: HR without a net connection since the saves are stored on their cloud. Yaaaaay.

With the connection on my main PC restored, the saves work again. Still.
-
What NH said. Man.

They're not only stored in the cloud, they are saved locally and then mirrored to the cloud. Start steam in offline mode and play it that way.

I went with King Arthur's Gold instead. It seems pretty damn cool so far.

I'll admit I was a bit too abraisive with the comment, but still he doesnt exactly seem like a nice person to me for various reasons, some of which can be seen here: http://4playernetwork.com/static/media/uploads/Developers/Polytron/sh1CZqk.png

MacD11 sure, man. My point is still: there are people who ignore it when they get bashed online, then there are people who bite back... He's the latter type. Like it or not he's at least not afraid to say what he's thinking. Bluntly, apparently. xD People have ruthlessly attacked him for this very reason too, which I just find absurd because combine a person with a short temper with a bunch of "internetizens". It's gonna get heated quickly.

"Infinite is as lavish as it is cerebral, as difficult as it is accessible. It’ll be many different things to many different people, and it will be discussed, dissected and deified for many years to come...So, when will gaming have its Citizen Kane moment? Forget that. When will anything else have its BioShock Infinite moment?" -- from Metacritic.

I loved Bioshock 1 but for some reason I couldn't get in ti Bioshock 2. I got as far the third level and gave up. So I've been on the fence with regards to No. 3. If it's thats good then I'll probably give it a go. Will try and wait until I've finished my campaign though.
-
Wasn't Citizen Kane only really revered well after it debuted? I remember reading that it wasn't all that well received when it first released.. we may already have our Citizen Kane, and are just waiting on someone to recognise it.
-
you have to be online to play it, and the game saves when it thinks you should save, you have no control to save when you feel like it. its basically a passageway and arena game, the levels feel open, while you can do some exploring its rather restricted to a couple of rooms, or corridors leading to the other side of a gate. They've gone out of the way to make the game feel like its set in the time period its set in. There's some game ethic's that may offend some people. eg racial segregation.

I'd trade for some summer about now... been getting down to 2C with up to 100% humidity on a nearly daily basis.. and there's another 1-1.5 months of this left.

My philosophy is that if it's cold, I can simply get warmer clothing and maybe heating. But there is no protection against heat, I can get completely naked, it won't help! lol

MMORPG? How disappointing.
I love spaceships in my mediaeval fantasy, though. Very much.
-
It can be good , it can be bad. Games like AD&D Spelljammer, or Wizardry series are so confusing: party is taken from fantasy world into spaceship, left on another fantasy planet to fight with some Darth Vader cousin and his robot minions. Plus valkiries on jet scooters, plus rhino humanoids with muzzleloaders... what a mess.
-
Wizardry VII was the best classic RPG, and I love it to death. It is one of my favourite games precisely because of its strange technology-meets-magic style.

(We can leave the thread for journalism corruption, but just on this...) Then the issue in academia is money flowing to the more corruptable fields like science & engineering with the big corporate grants & revolving door with staff. The humanities might not get that, but OTOH they are getting pressured to "justify their existence" financially. I could probably agree it's rife in almost any human field though, as long as there are incentives there will be corruption.
-
Or then we have the "uncorruptable" critical academics, but then they're basing their work on Derrida or Marx and are so detached from reality they throw their credibility out the window. It's good to be critically detached, not so good to be derailed from reality. My position in law sometimes is something like a critical realism, but it's practically an orphan position. (You want to protect victims *and* think science works??? Wha...?)
-
Who is uncorruptable anyways? I cannot convince even myself that I would be uncorruptable in every situation. And I perceive myself to be situated in the more-reliable-than-50%-of-the-general-population side in the gaussian distribution curve of corruption. Problematic, yes?

Sotha: Russian was a poor example. I meant that even tho the language might reflect badly on the writer, it's the message that counts. Of course, I rather prefer a professional, well-thought out and presented opinion, too, but sometimes cutting through the bullshit is easier when you can just every f-word instead of reverse translating stuff like "utelizing synergy-driven brand effects"
-
Sure, but an intelligent writer should be aware that their important message may be completely ignored due to inability to write properly. Their important message will sink into the bottomless depths of empty-minded drivel that is the blogosphere. In the modern era information flood, the reader must carefully evaluate the data on multiple criterion before accepting it.

Absolutely true. There was a very insightful article around Julian Assange's alledged rape and the situation in Sweden, where things seem to have gotten out of control regarding what is defined as rape. However, the article was so hateful and biased that even if all stated fact were true, I could not ever use it as a reference.

I think that's all it was ever supposed to be, it started as a joke game to train new team members on an engine, and after someone put out a video of it online, the internet exploded and demanded they make it a game, even though they didn't want to initially.

I really enjoyed Ufo:Aftermath an Aftershock. It is one of those games where you want to save/load after every shot. In Enemy Unknown you had to end mission, skip summary screen, and go to main menu to load if something went wrong. A bit too painful.

A lot of games fail due to incompetent designers or bad project management. I mean, John got his ass handed to him, and was relegated to making mobile games for, what, fourteen years now? The man has paid his dues.
-
The Looking Glas developers laid off probably think otherwise. But yeah, 14 years mobile game developmentis cruel
-
All granted, but he's already a walking punchline. I don't know whether to look forward his game or not, but I still find that sheepish smile & shrug funny. He's yesterday's news and knows it. He's not trying to deny it.

Interesting, quite high sound loss values there.

NB there's a bug with sound loss that causes sound card pops in a complex enough map. It'll be fixed soon in 2.04

Those times when you screw up a cunning idea and end up rebuilding a few things just so you don't have to discard it? It is one of those times!

Ah, yes, now I understand. You want to make it realistic from engineering point of view. That certainly makes it more difficult, especially if you need it to have an exterior, too. If it would have only an interior, it would be really easy.
-
My strategy, if I was doing it would be like this. Since submarines do not have windows, exterior is not needed. Just build an interior inside boxy sealing geometry. If you really want to show the submarin from the outside, you could build a separate area with an exterior-only version of the ship. Since the player needs to use an airlock to get it, you teleport the player to the interior version when the player accesses the ship.
-
Hmm I will give it a try, maybe it will make a big difference.
