Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.

How do you embed a video in a thread? Not the link, but have the vid show in the forum? Thx Neon

Seeing as how there are a lot of creative people around here, I figured this would be a good discussion. If you have files you would like to save for decades like content you have made for the mod, how do you do this? Do you use hard drives, flash memory, optical disks, or something else? Of course there is no right answer and each has advantages. I personally go with optical media because once you burn it and you confirm it was successful, it is pretty robust. Just don't scratch it. Even if you do, you may be able to retrieve the data by buffing out the scratches if they're not too deep. It cannot be deleted by software or infected with malware. My second choice is hard drives because they're fast, and hold a lot of data, but if they fail, you're pretty much screwed. Also, watch out for magnets! lol I figure this could happen if you got careless and stored an HDD near some large unshielded speakers (say 12 inch) or so. I should have tried this with the 12s I gave awy and a 2 GB hard drive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8olnVpjAWc Flash memory seems like a cool idea because it takes up so much less physical space, but it can get accidentally deleted, and I've heard that the cells can discharge over long periods of time without use. Is that true? I never messed with tape drives, but I've seen plenty of cassette players decide to eat tapes out of the blue to scare me away. My current solution is a Blu-ray writer. I understand that the more data they pack on these optical disks though, the more harmful a scratch will be.

I just downloaded The Dark Mod (10/10 would dark again) and I'm running into two persistent bugs. One is annoying, the other is game breaking. 1. This bug is signaled by buggy character models, and more or less prevents me from quick saving or finishing a mission. This has been here since the beginning. 2. This one is far more annoying. After trying to download a mission (The Rift) the game has been freezing on me, and I almost always have to restart my computer. I tried uninstalling it, but nope. It seems to happen randomly. Help? P.S. I admit, I'm mildly afraid I may have flat-out installed the thing wrong. But both the TM and St. Lucia worked perfectly fine, except for the first glitch. EDIT : The forum glitched while posting this, and I seem to have three copies of this. ~_~ Apologies.

I figure I'd put my videos of one of the best stealth games ever made with no sense of shame. There aren't enough minimalist runs of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in my opinion.

Afternoon all I am creating a general Windows 10 tech support thread in order to detail any bugs/fixes/tweaks that people come across while using Windows 10 itself or with The Darkmod under Windows 10. I will be updating and tweaking this OP as we go and will provide an index with links to fixes as they come up. This is what I have found since completing the setup of Windows 10 pro on my PC - red - no fix found yet blue - working on fix green - fix found black - reported only Installing: How do I clean install windows 10 - if like me you have an SSD or just prefer to install windows 10 you only have one option and its a PITA (and this is the offiail method from Microsoft)Using the media-creation tool download either direct to a USB stick or an ISO and write to a USB stick via the Win7 USB tool.Backup all your data and then double click on the installer from the USB stick from with in Windows 7/8, and to save time I didn't bother choosing to download any updates(but some users might have to for the upgrade to work). Once Windows 10 is installed, shut down the machine.If like me you have an SSD I would strongly recommend a factory reset of the drive using the manufactures tool or a 3rd paty tool like PartedMagic.Then reboot the machine with your Windows 10 USB stick, and then install windows, when you get prompted (multiple times for a CD key, just click skip). The PC will reboot a few times and after about 30mins you will have a fresh install of Windows 10.Then check 'This PC' and you will find windows is activated.The crucial and pertinent fact is that the reason for installing from the USB stick is that, during the first install a hardware HASH is generated from your existing Win7/8 key & motherboard of that particular PC and then written to said USB stick. This is currently the only way I have found to do a clean install - B.S. I know but, there it is. Hi! I'm working on a new map and am going to describe my mapping progress in this thread. Everyone is most welcome to view and comment the content here. Even better, constructive feedback and help is also appreciated. Not to spoil anyone's fun, I'll be discreet of the mission specifics. Let's just say that the aim of the mission is to perform a jail break. Except that the player breaks in a jail rather than out of one. Mapping started 29.5.2010. At present I'm working on basic geometry and it is almost finished. I'll fix this sometime, but it's easy to fill in the blank. Skybox and city background far from being done well. Do I care? Of course. Am I going to fix it in this FM? Probably not. There is a very unrealistic teleport which happens if you try to jump off the building (or from elsewhere) into the moat. Just pretend it didn't happen and soldier-on. Many things look too clean and shiny... not enough grime. Again... Do I care? Of course. Am I going to fix it in this FM? Probably not. A certain lever becomes magically frobable after certain conditions are met. Not the first time for this behavior in an FM. Solution: Just pretend you loosened it on previous attempts... kind of like when you easily open a jam jar that someone else tried to open for 5 minutes. If you get stuck with locked doors and no key... try harder to find the key! Read the readable items again if needed. ^All that has changed^

here is the result of the first pieces of code I wrote for tdm. I know this is very simple for you guys but it took me a few days to figure this out lol. It was a good way for me to start understanding the scripting language and the way you guys have the scripts laid out. I haven't got the hover action or click action working yet, not sure why.

Hi, For now we have all TDM fms placed in one spot, here http://www.mindplace...od/missions.php I just wish it will be the same forever. For example fm's for t1/t2 i have to search on ttlg, thiefmissions, komag fan site, authors home pages and etc. I don't want the same for TDM, cause it sux. All should be centralized. Please, just one place with all fms...
