  3. I stumbled across the following post on moddb: So I guess this question is, does this actually work? I have a legitimate copy of Doom 3 with TDM installed already so I haven't had a reason to try this. However, I'm curious as to whether this works at all, what issues may pop up attempting to do this, and if it does work would there would be any problems suggesting this to others.

      Man, that's brutal alright! I recognize some blood spatter from Blood, but those explosions and gibs are outrageous. Really cool mod.

      I played it a bit a while ago, unfortunately I had 300 ping to the host and I kept eating my own rockets when teammates ran in front of me. Good fun though

  8. I'm looking for a cheap, hand-held device that can play games based on the Doom engine and the many thousands of levels fans have made for these games. The GBA version was playable, but pretty terrible due to changed around music, no custom levels, and the GBA screen its self. Something like (Rockbox Doom on a Sansa Fuse) looks just beautiful. The screen has great color reproduction and the device is very small. The only problem with an mp3 player is that the controls are not meant for gaming. Most manufactures try and make a horrible copy of the clickwheel, which is also unsuitable for games like Doom. I have a Cowon D2, and tonight I tried to flash Rockbox onto the thing so I could get Doom running like in Again, great picture quality, but lousy controls. The installer didn't work though sadly. Got any suggestions? Basically, if I could have a Rockbox device with a D-pad and a decent screen for cheap, I would be in heaven.

      Gotta laugh at the "normal" price as you say. In what reality do they think the game is worth more than $5 - thats bad enough but then a digital download only copy is worth even less in my book. But then as most people know I have no time for valve/steam due to its abject deliberate failure of its customer care dept and with regard to second hand games.

I just replaced my old laptop and my new one is giving me troubles when I try to run Doom3 (gotta have that working before I can install darkmod right) I appologize for asking this here but I don't like Doom and I am not part of the doom community (I bought doom3 so I could play TDM). before we get too far here are my system specs: Toshiba qosmio X505 Intel Core i5 CPU m450 @ 2.4 GHz 4 GB RAM Windows 7 64-bit NVIDIA GTS 360M 1GB video card not too sure about the sound card I see something called connexant HD and NVIDIA Hi definition sound but I don't know if that means it's an integrated card or discrete. hopefully sound isn't the issue. . . any way I installed doom3 to C:\Program Files (x86)\DOOM3 I took out the space doom likes to put between "doom" and "3" because I remember reading a while ago that the space there could cause issues with TDM.   13. I wonder if v1.08 would run "standalone" if end-users copied pk4 data from the Doom 3 demo. Nobody could officially condone it but players might get to try TDM without downloading anything illegal...

      Using the demo00.pk4 won't work - it might bring a missing few resources, but missions using skeletons or undead will still crash. Nice idea, tho.

      @Tels, yeah it was a long shot but I thought there were Zombies in the demo (but probably not the ones TDM uses which probably are from the Hell stages).

      This is nothing more than like 4 other people have released. IE, backend with interaction shader and not a full set of shaders. Honestly just talk to Sikkpin. He's really nice.

      Yes, though with this work mh went the extra mile to really prove that the shaders are GPL because they are rewrites of the fixed function backend included with the GPL sources. Still doesn't complete the set though ;)

  16. Hi guys, As a long term taffer I'm very happy that the team had the courage to start making TDM work as a standalone! I'm aware there must be plenty of work left, but I dare asking about one little (I hope) thing: It looks like half of the missions would already be playable ... if only torches would emit light. Any idea when this could be achieved ? Thanks.
  17. Hi all. I'm trying to install TDM 1.06 to Doom 3 by 1C (it's a legal copy and I have the key, by the way). I've patched by Windows 1.31 patch that I found on wiki page. So, Doom itself works just fine, but when I switch to TDM it crashes - runtime error in doom3.exe. Any ideas? OS is Win7, however I can try to install Doom in Linux (I'll try). P.S: I can sit an hour or 2 by debugging this stuff, but it won't help at all - application is too big for hot patches by a man who had never read the sources. UPD: So, step-by-step patching made a deal. It works right now

      Hexen is outstanding for fans of the originals. Grimm has promise but it's a little barren of diversity as of yet.

      dosent the steam version d3 have issuue with tdm. Surely there is a game shop in his country that sells vanilla d3 for $5 or less.

  20. Hello there. I installed TDM, applied patch and it wont start mission. Game is asking me for DOOM 3 CD key. I understand this game is using doom 3 engine but it is free, is it? I bought my doom 3 seven years ago and it never asked me cd key till now. I dug all my house upside down but i just cant find CD case. Can this be bypassed somehow?

  23. Hi, I know that I've posted a few technical help questions on this forum about this before, but I really need some help. My doom3 copy is very "bugged". My Doom 3 is THE CORRECT 1.3.1 (BTW). Firstly. There is a doom 3 bug where corpses which are gibbed dissapear (as normal ). Then Reappear for a few seconds headless then dissapear. Secondly, Using most mods causes the crosshair to be positioned incorrectly. The bullet always hits the lower right of the crosshair. I use an ATI mobility 5730 card windows 7 x64 bit, for references. ATI CCC 10.7 Is this due to my faulty doom 3 CD? I've heard some people have this issue on the steam forums too. Thanks.
