  1. EDIT - You can find a working external script with instructions in this post ---------------------------------------------------------------- Hi! First post in this forum. Greetings to all. I am a long time fan of T1 & T2 and I recently stumbled upon The Dark Mod while looking for some T2 Fan Missions and I immediately fell in love with it. Here goes a heartfelt thanks to the developers for having created this masterpiece and my recognition and appreciation to the TDM content creators and artists. Thanks. Back on topic. A couple of weeks ago I started playing Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. The game makes use of the mouse wheel to increase and decrease the speed of the character and while it took a couple of missions to get used to it, it felt natural from that point on. So much so that after beating the game and launching TDM again my first thought was: this game mechanic should be a must in the stealth genre. You can see it in action in the first minute of this video: I understand chances are this new mechanic cannot be implemented in TDM right away: we are currently limited by the 3 existing speeds / levels of sound (correct me if I am wrong) but regardless, if the development Team would allow us to use the mouse wheel to switch between creep, walk & run it would be a step forward in the right direction, in my humble opinion. Cheers!
  2. I've been asked to post about the increased mantle speed in 2.12 as some folks have been curious about the change. After a lengthy internal discussion along with testing and input by several mission authors, it was agreed internally to increase the mantle speed. But during 2.12 beta testing, we would like feedback on any bugs or issues that you find. The reason for the change was to address feedback from players that mantling was "painfully slow", "slow and clunky", "mantling sucks - it's just slow", and so on. Several mission authors supported making mantling faster, and so the dev team decided to tweak the mantle speed. There were multiple implementations with the final implementation being a compromise. Also, the dev team studied some parkour techniques to ensure that the mantle phases and timings were good enough. The changes include: The original mantle phases were kept as that is what longtime TDM players are used to, and only the duration of some phases were reduced. Changed the pull animation so that it has both acceleration and deceleration rather than just deceleration. Tweaked the swaying back and forth a bit to work better with the increased speed. When the player in forced into the crouch position at the end of a mantle, crouch near the end of the mantle rather than the beginning in order to remove the sudden "dip" of the player's view. A majority of dev team members were against adding a menu setting, so being able to toggle between the old and new mantle speeds will not happen. It is recommended that you try out different "Mantle Roll" values as some prefer "0.1" and others prefer "0.5". We hope you all enjoy this adjusted mantle speed, especially the overhead mantle, which is now more consistent with the other mantle types. Bug tracker: https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=6343
  3. I'm pleased that the latest builds of TDM offer analog controller support but is there anyway to fine tune it and adjust movement speed when pushing the sticks forward/backward/strafe etc? Right now the slowest movement using the analog stick is too fast. Can it be made to creep forward or strafe even slower? I would still want it to be able to run at maximum speed if the stick is pushed forward all the way however.
  4. Is there something wrong with the forums lately, or is it my browser? I've been having trouble formatting posts, and just now I couldn't format anything at all.

    I'm using Vivaldi.

Usually I have to: select text, click bold, nothing happens, select again, click bold, then it works.

Same for other stuff, like creating spoilers, bullet points, links. Nothing works the first time.

I have no problem. I use Firefox. @Zerg Rush also uses Vivaldi. Have you tried without extensions, or in another browser?

(btw. bold, italic and underline have shortcut keys: Ctrl B, Ctrl I and Ctrl U, you could try that)

  5. looking for holy water proof and meele resistant clothes . Currently in speed potion cold turkey. Duh i must train myself to be as agile as fireshadow, Mages are inferior compared to me!

  6. Hello Guys I need some help/hints/advice It´s because i prefer being/working offline , and also my Brother in france has no real internet (he mostly needs to go to a public Library ) So my idea was to get the DarkRadiant Sektion from the WIKI downloaded for offline use . therefore I tryed "HTTrack_64-noinst-3.49.2" which I got from "Heise.de" It´s told that the Standard use is good for most webpage-downloads --- but after more than 10hrs and over 10Gib with million off external stuff I stopped the download . 1. the Download is making a total mirror of "wiki.thedarkmod.com/..." even with the setting to ".../index.php?title=DarkRadiant" this wouldn´d be bad but wasn´t intendet 2. My most concern is about the millions off external links , which mostly look like useless stuff .(and often seems have nothing to do with TDM/DR) (it looks like it has downloaded the whole "thief.fandom.com/wiki" and at the end before i stopped it "en.wikipedia.org/wiki" So my question is how to trigger the App to get maybe just the internal links to work , or does one need alll the others ? P.S. ? had anyone tried this before ? succcessfull ? and how big would the download be ? I appreciate any comment you can give me and maybe a PM from a German would be nice Greetings from Bergante
  7. For missions where mappers increase the drawing bow speeds, you can find attached to this post drawing bow sounds with an increased tempo to accompany the faster animation. Cheers! sound.zip
  8. Hi folks, Had this issue after updating to the latest. Do I need to start fresh? Cheers, Gokudo

  10. Hi, I'm trying to install the latest release version of TDM on Gentoo Linux (and I'm aware that there is an unofficial ebuild but I prefer to keep the number of third-party repositories to an absolute minimum). Anyway, it seems to be impossible for the installer to receive any data at all, except for the config file. If however I check the "Skip installer self-update" option in Advanced Settings it attempts to download manifest files for all the release versions but doesn't receive any of them (curl error 56 - Failure in receiving network data). If I try to download any of these files manually using a browser, the browser complains that the source files can't be read. It doesn't seem to be a problem on my end. Kind of seems like the files are simply not publicly accessible but I'm not sure. Enclosed is the complete log file for reference. tdm_installer_1634569973.log
  11. Some of you probably know that I made an Unofficial Patch changing some core TDM mechanics and tools to make the TDM world more consistent and realistic in my point of view. So while playing "Hazard Pay" I noticed that Kingsal added an invisibility potion, which I rather liked, so I took a look at how he did this. I learned that he based it on the unused speed potion for which the model already exists and which is even shown in the TDM wiki. Now I have some questions about it: - Was the speed potion supposed to speed up the player or slow down the world? - Why was the speed potion never implemented and are there plans to still do so? - If I would add it to the patch, could it become a part of the default vendor items? - If I would add it to the patch, would you like a speed potion or invisibility potion? In my opinion an invisibility potion would make more sense, as TDM is much more about not being seen compared to being able to run away, for which we already have the flash bombs. Of course one problem would be how to make the potion available to the player if it does not replace another item which is were the shopping list before the mission starts comes in. If this is fixed for each mission though I don't see a way to do this unless the mission adds some on purpose.
  12. Since Aluminum directed me here ( https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/9082-newbie-darkradiant-questions/page/437/#comment-475263 ) can we have unlimited renderer effects? Well, maybe not unlimited, by maybe 3-5? Thanks.

Since I wasn't the one mainly asking, I'll just cite you in the original thread instead.

There already is a kind of sorting, sort nearest, sort decal, sort <n>. For things like windows and such, sort nearest should probably have the desirable affect, though looking through multiple translucent shaders might kill performance.

Is having multiple render effects really killing performance that badly? I don't understand. You're saying that if I have two transparent objects side-by-side, then they'll just count as two render effects, but when combined, they somehow become something much more difficult to render?

Never-the-less, unless we're talking some kind of infinite portal problem, why not let the mapper choose how much he wants to kill performance? Just warn him against putting too many effects close together.

  13. I am on a metered connection and need to monitor my data, anyone got an exact figure for the download size? (That is just the mod itself without any missions)
  14. An error has occurred in this program. I tried to download the stable version 2.07, but I couldn't (screenshot below). Аnd I'm now sure that if players download the latest version 2.09b, it may be missing some files due to a bug. Can the developers check this program and fix it? It would be very convenient, if all versions were uploaded to some cloud and players could download any version without this program.
  15. Woo!! 2.10 Beta "Release Candidate" ( 210-07 ) is out:

It wont be long now :) ...

  16. I don't think there's a link to thedarkmod.com on forums.thedarkmod.com ...

Yeah and the wiki and moddb. It should have those links in the footer I think. Probably easy to add by an admin.

Edit: And a link to the bugtracker. I'm always searching for a post in the forum that links to that because I can't remember the url.

Reluctance to improve the forums is matched by reluctance to allow more people to work on it. Talk about trust and power.

  17. In the download menu, missions are marked with * for updates and # for translations, but this is not visible in longer titles. Perhaps it would be better to mark it at the beginning of the title, or at the edge of the menu.
  18. Hello, I'm trying to install The Dark Mod using the installer from here: https://www.thedarkmod.com/download-the-mod/ but it's taking forever to download the game. Is there some sort of a mirror or a torrent version? Thanks.
  19. Hi everyone, I would like to try this fantastic game and I would like to start with training mission but neither Thedarkmod.com missions links are available and no missions server into the game. Could you create some links to download that mission or explain me a solution to fix the conexion with missions server into the game? I am running on Arch Linux. Thanks in advance.
  20. I have the game installed and it works, but I can't download missions. Someone doesn't know where the problem is
  21. I'm on a PAYG internet and wondering if I have enough remaining data to download? Can I get a rough estimate?
  22. Been trying to install it the third time, got the same error as shown in pic
  23. Hello folks, Is it possible for you to mirror the game as a Google Drive or a torrent download? Downloading from the mirrors has always been hellishly slow, not to mention slower broadband speeds in Turkey.
