  1. I made this yesterday. A search for beauty in Space Engine. Part of a series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE2dN-s1nh4
  2. Exploring distant galaxies around the edge of the universe, I found these gem planets. The red ones are lit by a Brown Dwarf Star except for the one with volcanoes. Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8v6IyVYGyg
  3. Sign out of TDM forums, close browser, re-open later, "Huh...I'm still signed in?"

  4. Hey, Im an amateur programmer, was thinking about learning some game coding after learning basic web development, I was just curious what languages the game and editor use but I found the answer by searching for language. I use python and web languages but no C or C++ yet because Im barely out of the gates Anyways Im not only into thief style games but theres a warcraft 3 mod going on, basically cloning the game to starcraft 2 engine, free to play, which is creating a lot of hype and is going to be sweet for people who love RTS, with better graphics, smoothness etc. Just wanted to say if anyone was interested to help collaborate in the warcraft 3 clone you can check the project here : http://www.moddb.com/mods/waa-mod For now, Im gonna get more back into dark mod, and thief and look forward to some large missions on here. Adios Fitz
  5. There ya go folks: https://github.com/motorsep/StormEngine2/ Hopefully someone can take it to the new heights.

I suppose making a campaign as an individual and building for Thief Gold go hand & hand. You need to be pretty obsessed to do either. XD

I'm just very happy to see how much work still goes on with the original Thief games. Good mods = long life after release!

What? The mysterious saviour is back to make our Thief lives happier again after such a long absence? I can't believe it's true! Wow thanks so much!

  7. I am trying to compile the latest SVN engine, on openSUSE Tumbleweed (via gcc 4.8). Compilation goes well until the end, when the process mysteriously fails for an unexplained reason. The only thing that seems to be printed is the name of the file and something called "Error 1". Anyone else running across this, and knows of a solution? Thanks. cm/CollisionModel_load.cpp: At global scope: cm/CollisionModel_load.cpp:42:13: warning: ‘versioned’ defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] static bool versioned = RegisterVersionedFile("$Id: CollisionModel_load.cpp 6551 2015-10-15 18:48:23Z stevel $"); ^ In file included from include/boost/filesystem/path_traits.hpp:23:0, from include/boost/filesystem/path.hpp:25, from include/boost/filesystem.hpp:16, from framework/../idlib/../idlib/Image.h:29, from framework/../idlib/../idlib/Lib.h:230, from framework/../idlib/precompiled.h:106, from framework/precompiled_engine.h:28: include/boost/system/error_code.hpp:221:36: warning: ‘boost::system::posix_category’ defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] static const error_category & posix_category = generic_category(); ^ include/boost/system/error_code.hpp:222:36: warning: ‘boost::system::errno_ecat’ defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] static const error_category & errno_ecat = generic_category(); ^ include/boost/system/error_code.hpp:223:36: warning: ‘boost::system::native_ecat’ defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] static const error_category & native_ecat = system_category(); ^ scons: *** [build/release/core/cm/CollisionModel_load.o] Error 1 scons: building terminated because of errors.
  8. I'm wondering if anyone ever checks new posts in the Fan Missions Forums? I've posted 4 questions asking for help for 4 different missions that I can't finish because I"m stuck, and I don't get any help. I posted a question this morning so I don't expect an answer right away for that one. Its frustrating because I would like to finish them. I've read through the posts for each mission and I'm not getting anything from them. If there's someone who could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks I guess I'm spoiled from the TTLG forums.
  9. Is it just me or does the TDM Forums favicon look whack?

  10. Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.
  11. Really excited for this new chair and ottoman I'm working on. The Source engine normals shader isn't near as pronounced as the Id4. So I'm ecstatic to see what this is gonna look like in TDM.

  12. Does anyone know how in the dark engine you were able to lean against a door and you could hear the sound outside of thedoor got louder? I listened to a podcast or something about it once but I forgot , had something to do with a room database or something.
  13. First of all, hello! I am a new player and user, who sadly only heard of TDM a few days ago. I was mind blown that a game of this genre + quality + complexity might exist in the world of open-source / Linux gaming, and couldn't believe my eyes until I actually played it and looked for official info on the website. Thank you to those who created this fantastic and ambitious project, and of course ID Software for releasing the Quake 4 engine which made it all possible. As far as I'm aware, this is the only FOSS singleplayer FPS, as well as the only FOSS project with cutting edge rendering features which actually allow for modern visuals... certainly something new in this area. There are many things I'm intrigued to discuss and possibly suggest. I wanted to start with a simple technical question however: Is it known when there will be an x64 version of the engine? 32-bit is always slower more or less, as well as limited to 4GB of memory... main reasons why I strive to run only 64-bit versions of everything. It's also problematic to run on a 64-bit Linux OS, where you usually need compatibility libraries to be maintained. I use openSUSE which thankfully maintains these... but I still have an issue with sound constantly "flickering" and suffering rhythmic interruptions, which is suspected to be related to 32bit. I discussed this briefly on the IRC channel, but only heard that attempts to make the engine x64 compatible existed yet none were finalized. Was hoping there might be more news on what to expect.
  14. Bam! C4 engine is out of Linux gaming. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=C4-Engine-Drops-Linux
