  1. See this wiki page: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=New_light_leaks_in_2.12 I have bound changing both cvars + reloadModels to [ and ] respectively. I guess I'll toggle them a lot in the nearest future.
  2. No worries. If you wanna try, it's not too difficult, especially with the v2 "presets". The tricky part is ensuring the location entity is inside the middle of an area and that location separators enclose the area. I've actually done this by editing the map file in a text editor and making the entities match locations of other entities like door handles for the separators and vases (etc) for the location. It's easier to do in DR if you are a DR veteran of course. https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Setting_Reverb_Data_of_Rooms_(EAX)
  3. Looking at the code, the originals were "pm_mantle_pull 750" and "pm_mantle_pullFast 450". The new "pm_mantle_pull" value is "400". A "pm_mantle_pullFast" value of "450" would be slower than regular pull, not faster. With both being set to "400", they are at least similar. Other than that, it's subjective and the feedback from playtesters was positive. Also, referenced internally here: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/22256-movementcontrols-settings-in-main-menu/&do=findComment&comment=489158
  4. The subtitles of The Lady02 vocal set is now available for eventual incorporation into TDM: testSubtitlesLady02.pk4 Lady02 is another noblewoman, somewhat newer and so unmentioned on the wiki. She is a drawling speaker, often indecisive, and given to long musings. Favorite topics are how boring life is for the wealthy, and how to keep men of the household and the maids apart. Lady02 required heavier and more complex use of .srt files than most AI characters, due to: Her slow, rambling monologues Some of the underlying .ogg files were poorly trimmed at the end, so needed compensatory .srt timings. I appreciate the assistance of @datiswous in this effort. Statistics In file fm_root.subs there are 195 inlines, including: 25 with an explicit linebreak, intending 2 lines 170 without Only 1 of these needed an explicit duration extension, to the capped value 0.50 seconds, for 17-20 cps There are 116 SRTs, including: 78 with 1 message (to correct trim problem) 24 with 2 messages 7 with 3 messages 2 with 4 messages 3 with 5 messages 1 with 8 messages 1 with 9 messages Of the 187 total SRT messages, there are: 90 with an explicit linebreak, intending 2 lines 97 without In all, there are 311 voice clips with subtitles, showing 382 messages. Corresponding Excel File Lady02Subtitles.xlsx This is based on Version 6 of the Excel Template for TDM bark subtitles.
  5. That sort of tone doesn't fly in our forums.
  6. I've restarted some services and it appears to be back for me. Please let me know if anything on the wiki still isn't working.
  7. Something's wrong with the wiki. Going to anywhere but the home page returns something like this: MediaWiki internal error. Original exception: [521710f625297c8cef7aa5f4] 2023-12-19 13:47:30: Fatal exception of type "IntlException" Exception caught inside exception handler. Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information. @taaaki
  8. I would use this massive list for any fan missions, it includes campaigns too: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148090 There are a lot of Fan Missions for the picking, I myself go for the lesser known ones and the short variety, because sometimes they hide a gem or two. Just like jaxa, I'm a bit outdated after the temporal retirement, but I do remember some amazing campaigns like "The Black Frog". If you intend to play The Black Frog, you should play the first two of the L'Arsene series missions, it's how I did it myself. Also, yes, L'Arsene are a fantastic series. The first mission of L'Arsene is a "rough draft", author was a bit new to Thief level making, but still great either way, after the 3rd you will see how his skill increased by a massive amount.
  9. setviewpos https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Reporting_Problem#Coordinates
  10. What was the console again to move view to a viewpos ? Is there a wiki article about this? If not I can write one.
  11. Unfortunately, TDM forum deletes the separator between the numbers. So I have to guess where one number ends and the next starts Also, user can rename screenshot manually, or push it through something that would rename it automatically. Thenwe won't see coordinates on screenshot address on forums.
  12. tdm_show_viewpos cvar and screenshot_viewpos command: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/22310-212-viewpos-on-player-hud-and-screenshots/
  13. The most reliable approach is installing Linux natively. But if you don't want to actually use it regularly, you'll just waste a lot of time and space for nothing. It is possible to run TDM in virtual machine, but you should check that virtual machine supports at least OpenGL 3.3 on Linux guest (and Windows host). Most of them do not. VMWare is perhaps the only one which does support it. I currently build and test TDM on Linux inside VMWare. Here are the instructions: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=VMWare:_Virtual_machine_with_Linux With non-default cvar "r_gpuBufferNonpersistentUpdateMode 1" it runs more or less OK performance-wise.
  14. I have created wiki page: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=New_light_leaks_in_2.12 For now: ws1_north: put into the table. Global workaround applied. cos3_sacricide: I confirmed the issue, put it into the table. Perhaps wait for more cases on this map to decide whether to workaround it locally or globally. cos0_thief: As I noted just above, I believe this cases to be broken on 2.11 too, so I did not put it into the table.
  15. Relax @Näkki, it's great to hear you enjoyed the game. My personal expectations were just a bit different when I read the Steam page, although the various trailers should have been a warning that stealth maybe wasn't the biggest priority of the devs. From the Steam page: "Weird west legends meet eldritch horror in BLOOD WEST, an immersive stealth FPS." Also "Blood West is a stealth FPS inspired by the genre classics such as the Thief series (whose fans will be happy to hear the voice of Stephen Russell, the actor voicing the master-thief Garrett, returning here as the protagonist), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, or - from the contemporary catalog - Hunt: Showdown. The gameplay rewards the careful approach: scouting the area, stalking your enemies, and striking from the shadows. Can you figure out a way to clear a fort full of ghouls and monsters without raising an alarm?" From my personal experience I think the game is predominantly Hunt: Showdown, a bit of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and a very small portion Thief. Stealth is very unforgiving and makes it almost impossible early game when there are various enemies around, but hey maybe I just suck at it. I don't see Deus Ex in it, unless the skill leveling is the Deus Ex part for you and then I have to disagree with you, as that seems like the trait system in Hunt: Showdown. Edit: What I also understood from the Steam forums is that the original VA was dropped close before the release of the full version and replaced by Russell with no real explanation from the devs why this was done.
  16. Regarding the earlier discussion about telling when an objective is complete from script, I just added a brief entry under the wiki's "Objective Editor/FAQ & Examples" called "Determining an Objective's Current State from a Script" As for as Stim/Response... I often find it hard to wrap my head around too. I don't recall writing anything very authoritative about it, but maybe in some narrow context? Or maybe @JackFarmer, you were remembering someone else's explanation? So, I can put it on my list of possible wiki topics for 2024, but it would require a lot of research by me, and likely @Dragofer or others could do it better & quicker.
  17. I know what you mean. Springheel used this once in a tutorial for traps, but in the end I just copied his methods and didn't understand much. However, there is a different S/R application I understood and I find very handy. If you pick a random frobable entity, go to S/R and click on responses, you can select the Stim "Frob". If you then press the right mouse button in the response effects area, you can activate effects such as: clear/add targets on AI turn off/on lights play sounds remove items run scripts change frobability set skin trigger entities set light color Unfortunately, the last one (changing the light color) doesn't work so well. I have noticed that this effect is reset when you save and reload the game. However, I have not yet noticed this with the other effects (and frobability/remove works perfectly, I use them all the time. But that's only one of the possibilities, certain stims, as I understand it, work on approximation, and you can do cool things with them. There's also a Wiki entry written by Sparhawk, who coded it. Unfortunately I don't understand much there either. I don't even dare to ask, because Geep has already done so much, if he could revise this section and provide understandable examples for both stims/responses. @Geep Didn't you once open a topic in which you explained the use of stims? That was very informative, but unfortunately I can no longer find it.
  18. The devs didn't title this thread, and @datiswous said they're attempting to mislead people by using Russell's name and a retro style to make it resemble Thief, which is cynical. I grew up on forums like I'm sure anyone who likes a game from '98 did. I actually left the Discord immediately after joining it because it was more off-topic doom-posting than anything relevant to the mod. I thought the forums might be better, but it's mostly just grown men yelling at clouds and telling strangers how mature they are, and a few brave souls actually developing anything. Depressing place, I'll just stick to enjoying new missions every 6 months without an account.
  19. True, but, 1. this thread is called "Western stealth FPS with Stephen Russell", and, 2. nothing you said changes anything for me. The gameplay still doesn't look like something I'd enjoy. And, if you really think this forum is cynical, then you don't visit forums much. Actually, the majority of the users are are pretty mature, unlike in other forums.
  20. Nice, but TDM has already a gui editor. How about that someone update the internal TDM gui editor? Or put it in DR? https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=GUI_Scripting:_EditGuis_Editor
  21. Scripting help How do I query whether an objective has been completed? The wiki shows: but this is just gibberish to me. How do I actually write it as a script? I want to use it in an if statement, for example: if (Obj1 = 0 && Obj2 = 0){ sys.trigger( $thing1 ); } else {sys.trigger( $thing2 );}
  22. So, if I understand you, no Thief Gold FM does sound and text notifications of completed objectives? The missions in The Black Parade surely did. I'm completely confused now. I was sure that original Thief Gold had those objective complete notifications (at least the sound). Reading this thread suggests otherwise though: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132977
  23. I love "Lord Edmond Entertains", "Endless Rain", "Autumn in Lampfire Hills". Those are the ones I remember without scrolling a wiki.
  24. I haven't looked into importing (and/or making) models and texturing (uv-mapping, skins) enough. The (wiki) docs seem very old and complicated.
  25. A Problem Arises I've paused subtitling of the Lady02 vocal set, because of a problem with the voice clips described here: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21741-subtitles-possibilities-beyond-211/&do=findComment&comment=490151 While a way forward is being determined, I'll work on a different vocal set. Maybe manbeast, for which Kingsal just provided me the voice script.
