Springheel Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 How easy would it be to import into into DR..? along with all the textures etc Depending on the format it wouldn't be difficult at all. Making it actually playable would be quite another thing entirely. Springheel Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Just a question, whatever happened to this guy, I've never seen him in any mission so far and I cant seem to find him in DR? I really like that model (the brown priest)... Yeah, that's an early inquisitor model. He still needs to be rigged to the new skeleton, and some adjustments made. In the meantime, the acolyte (which wasn't in that shot) will be included in 1.08). Springheel Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 You could even say the gear is a mark of some sorts of Builder-manufactured armour. I'm not sure builders would be in the armour-making business, but there's nothing to say that everyone with a religious symbol on their armour has to be a builder. Plenty of knights had cross designs in their armour or herald without them being part of the clergy. Melan Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 That's right. Although I could also imagine the Builders, as a warlike and industrious group, supplying a lot of arms and armour to the authorities. Springheel Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 One thing I notice in those shots is the unified colour scheme. I wish there was an easy way to desaturate textures in the editor. Baddcog Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Yeah, it helps set the mood some, but i think it's a bit boring. TDM has much more of the colorful original feel which people like. T3 had the Batman look and it was one thing people complain about alot. I think using the locations system to change the hue of the ambient light could work pretty well for that. New Horizon Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Aren't there some values that can be placed on textures in the mtr files to change their color / desaturate them on the fly? Not sure if it's possible to add those by way of the editor, but if so...it would be cool to have a little preview window to make those adjustments in real time. Quote
Baddcog Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 there's _colorme and you blend color in with it, but I don't know about desaturate. might work good to blend in dark grey on textures that stand out too much in your map though, might also help to kill some of the color. New Horizon Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 We also have some settings left over from JC Denton's work that allows us to desaturate the entire scene if we want to, but that would be a post process effect covering everything in the map. Quote
Baddcog Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 That could be cool for 'flash back' scenes, or time shift scenes, or for recording intros, etc.. Can that be triggered in game? Quote Dark is the sway that mows like a harvest

Baddcog Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Pretty, nice shadows too. demagogue Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Looks great. I'm still happy we have our engine with the open source & unified lighting (as opposed to an earlier version of the Cry engine), but I can acknowledge things looking really good on other engines. But credit goes to the guys that mapped that. They did good work even for a WIP. Good-looking mapping is always inspirational to see. Quote What do you see when you turn out the light? Tels Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 That could be cool for 'flash back' scenes, or time shift scenes, or for recording intros, etc.. Can that be triggered in game? Oh, yeah, can this be dynamically modified in real-time? Effects like desaturate, shift hue, adjust brightness/gamma, these would all make for cool special effects that could be used in a lot of situations esp. if you can access them from a script or SDK code for each frame. jay pettitt Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 I'm guessing that's a yes - D3 does it and it might be one of the things that TDM uses to fudge underwater scenes. Quote
Bikerdude Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 Uts very very realistic, at times it looks like your walking through a step-by-step photo of the iside of a real ship.. but whats with the motion blur, you dont get it in real life so why do mappers insist on using it.. Quote
Komag Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 actually we do get it in real life, just not that much. It also masks low frame rate a bit Quote
pusianka Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 damn at some points you could post a picture of that and say taht you own a hotel. Thought I'll never say it but this looks like real. Quote
demagogue Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 It's not exactly a hotel though. The first time they showed the stairs near the beginning I knew it was the Titanic. Quote What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.
Tels Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 It's not exactly a hotel though. The first time they showed the stairs near the beginning I knew it was the Titanic. Never seen the titanic or the movie, but I would have guessed it is some sort of ship (even tho the exteriour seems not to match), and my first guess would have been something from the titanic era. Btw, why oh why do they ruin a perfect video with the useless text about changing the wood color? Who cares about the wood color and wether they'll update it later? Melan Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 demagogue: It is the Titanic? Ha! I only watched the start of it, but I was saying to myself that grand staircase was just like you'd see on old photos of that ship. (Never seen the movie.)
