RESOLVED: whoops...female body lacks shadow

Very funky, female AI body lacks a shadow for me now, but their heads creepily cast one (as well as other attachments).

Male AI cast shadows regularly. True for all or just something funky at my end?

Curious, I'm also finding the new red ponytail lacks shadow.

PS: I should have specified new "wench" mesh in my original post, the original female thief has her shadow.

Ah, it depends which head, the ponytail head seems to cause the lack of shadow, while another head had a body shadow. (None seem to have hair shadow, but a bald girl.)

OK, I'm so confused, I restarted TDM to be sure and grab pics if it still happened.

The first play, shaggy hair, body lacked shadow. I wasn't expecting that and she moved before I got a screengrab. So I switched to ponytail wench expecting to get pic, but this time she had a shadow. So I'm baffled.

Oh! Maybe it's the purple bodice skin?

The ponytail head looks funnier because the neck ends in a V shape and there's no ponytail shadow.

It's quite possible the hair doesn't cast a shadow, but the body definitely should! I can't believe that would slip by unnoticed.

The type of head should not have any effect on whether the body casts a shadow, and the skin shouldn't matter either.

.Def file got accidentally borked maybe?

I recall seeing .def files getting replaced when I was doing the SVN update.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Anyone else noticing this? I won't be able to check until I get home from work.

No, my bad. *facepalm. This morning I see a noshadows spawnarg I missed when I double checked last night. I'm sorry all, especially Spring for maybe giving you agita on your wonderful work, false alarm. :-(

I can confirm all is well.

Lady Ludmilla still had her shadow, as did all the other girls in Mandrasola.

Looks like the Lich Queen didn't cast an evil spell on all of the TDM ladies after all!

(They look even more gorgeous after this new update!)

Dammit RJ! Don't do such pranks anymore. I'm sure poor Spring almost got a heart attack. :P

Yes, I actually had that in my mind after I saw this new female head as well.

Where is that from?

I didn't make that one...it was a free for use download from Turbosquid, IIRC. I just made a normalmap for it and did some other touch-ups to make it usable. It could very well be based on that character, as there are definite similarities.

I think all our female animations are pretty bad (I can say that since I made them). Possibly the noblewoman ones, where she's holding her hands in front of her, are okay, but I don't like the wench ones. I was trying to create a more feminine idle pose, but I don't like the way it creates a zig-zag pattern on their torso.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
