Not a bad thing to have it's own thread for. More traffic is a feedback loop ;)

That calls for a Moddb article, doesn't it? ;)

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

I was gonna do an article about Volta then add Smiling Cutpurse and Mother Rose as add-ons (was saving those for the next big article and forgot to add them when the big

Accountant 2 event hit.) This could round that out nicely. :)

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

What always amazed me about this list was how those at Dwarf Fortress said they'll be doing updates for the game in the next 20 years.

Must be some dedicated team over there.

Thank you for still doing TDM over the years!

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

The Nethack DevTeam has been going strong since 1987 (that's almost 29 years!), and they released the most recent build last December. It can be done. :)

New builds and updates are what keeps a free game alive! I still think The Babylon Project should have been in the list of best free games too, but as development has stopped some time ago, it's already getting forgotten except for the occassional B5 fan stumbling upon it :(.

Congratulations all around!

Nice to see we're not the only ones thinking the game is pretty awesome inside of our bubble.

I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.

I finished DOOM - The Dark Ages the other day. It is a decent shooter, but not as great as its predecessors, especially because of the soundtrack.
