  1. Looking for people who want to test the tdm-installer for windows. check for more info: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/18207-beta-test-tdm-installer-windows/

  2. I spotted this when playing Penny Dreadful which is a dark mission and I couldn't see the ghouls without increasing the gamma level from the default to the point where I can just see the smallest number which was almost the maximum gamma setting and makes the other missions look very odd I took a picture of the settings This is the default This is with maximum gamma Is this as designed or is it my monitor which can't cope with the gamma range properly
  3. At the moment I'm working on the second "stable" version for the TDM Installer - Windows. I would like to hear from you the features you want to see in this version and your comments. You can download always the latest version (TDMinstaller-win-v2-"version") from my google drive. For now I working on the following features: a function to run the TDM Updater "inside" the installer.a fullscreen background slideshow for displaying user tips, during the TDM updater.an advisable minimum system requirements checker (trying to follow Doom 3 bfg and tdm's Known System Configurations)startmenu shortcuts for debugging beginners issues. (like shortcuts for a safemode, Reset to default settings and logcreation) (using temporary session settings, instead of saved settings. for example: instead of running tdm with argument "+seta something 1", i will be using "+something 1") Added screenshots: First screen, with background Systemcheck attempt. Updater "inside" tdminstaller and slideshow.

  5. I'm running: Windows 10 (caught the auto-update bug) AMD Radeon HD 7800 The latest AMD driver completely destroys TDM 2.03 and DR 2.04, so watch out for that if you are running windows 10 and/or AMD 7800 series.
  6. I wonder if Microsoft made it so that Windows Update just waits for two hours if you're updating a Windows 7 machine, just to punish you...

  7. If you have read the tdm 2.04 publication on our forum, you know that I am working on several installation-applications to install the TDM-gamefolder and -updater. Now I am near at the last step to publish the first stable version of the installer for Windows, But I looking for people to do the last tests. You can help me do the following steps and post the results in this topic. Download the TDM-installer zip file from my google driveunpack the zip file.run the installer. (test 1: Check if you see to the welcome screen, after you accepted the unknown publisher-warning)at the screen where you specify the location for tdm, select the program files-folder (or something else) and click on the install button. (dont select your own excisting tdm-folder) At the following window the tdm-gamefolder will be installed. (test 2: check if it installs the files.)At the final step of the installer, you be asked if you want that the installer start the updater. Keep the checkbox checked, click on the finish-button and .(test 3: check if the updater starts)At the updater, click on continue (test 4: check if you dont get an error) and after the updater-check, click the cancel-button.Start the updater using the shortcut (test 5) and install tdm using the updater.Run tdm (test 6), download & install a mission (test 7)Remove TDM using the uninstaller from the TDM-gamefolder (test 8)Post your results in this topic. If you have other comments please, post them also on this topic.
  8. Ohhh No!!! Apparently "This Windows computer is infected!", even though its not running Windows at all. I just love the shady things that random websites on the Internet try to pull, which is exactly why I prefer to browse in Linux... less risk of getting hit by Cryptolocker and friends. Still makes me laugh, though.

hmm If Win10 goes subs based more of us will be using Linux as our desktop OS.

@Stumpy, you should have run with it pretenidn to give them acess etc etc just to see how far that would hang themselves... been there done that.. free entertainment..

  9. Any old-timers remember this classic game? I would love to see creatures from the bestiary added to the dark mod. Besides heretic or hexen the dark mod is the closest to a first person shooter version of Castle of the Winds that I know of. I still have the manual printed from over two decades ago and it's about a hundred pages and I still read it for ideas because I believe it is a very complete selection of lore. Just pipe dreaming but to have goblins trolls ogres and even more classic animals like giant rats snakes in TDM would make me a very happy camper.
  10. Since it seems like we're getting more videos on Youtube now I thought this would be worth discussing. One of the issues I ran into with my TDM videos is finding a good brightness and gamma to record at. Previously, I recorded all my videos with gamma much higher than what I played at to make sure things would be visible to more people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU5C6J_0nbA&hd=1 With my trailer and my last Let's Play, I turned the gamma back down and brought it closer to what I normally play at, but still slightly higher enough to compensate for recording issues: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cz5qhH1wOKQ&hd=1 The reason I turned it back down has to do with comments I got from a couple groups of gamers who don't play TDM who I have shown these videos to. It seemed that with the former gamma I almost always inevitably got a lot comments like "the AI in this game sucks, he can't see you even though you were right there" or "the shadows are too washed out". In fact, in some cases I could hardly get any positive comments on these videos at all because of that until I went back and put in notes on all the videos that the game isn't normally that bright. With the latter gamma and brightness the above has not been a problem yet, and feedback seemed to turn out more in line with what you would expect, and I didn't get anywhere near as many comments about AI having poor detection. A few people seemed to think it was too dark, but those complaints seemed far fewer than the "the AI can't see anything" comments that I got with the brighter setting. For I've been going with the latter video's settings as it seems to get fewer complaints overall, though it still ends up being a bit of a catch-22. Now admittedly my sample size of gamers who haven't played TDM is rather small, maybe 15-20 or so it might not represent the majority, so I thought it would be helpful to discuss this and maybe get a sense of how bright or dark trailers/videos of TDM would ideally be.
  11. Uploaded a new version of my TDM Installer for Windows. And posted installation instructions.

I suppose making a campaign as an individual and building for Thief Gold go hand & hand. You need to be pretty obsessed to do either. XD

  13. I've played around with the brightness and gamma settings but I'm not sure what the end result should look like. I don;t know if my settings are to dark or to light. Getting this right is important for the atmosphere of the game. Any pointers?
  14. Afternoon Is anyone else running 8.1 that they installed from scratch and are trying to download and install the latest GoG Galaxy..? I have had to resort to the GOG downloader to get the game and the dlc etc - https://www.gog.com/downloader

  16. Started playing TDM this week and I've got to say it is damn awesome. Although there is one problem: For me to see anything at all outside of direct torch light in TDM itself I need to set the Gamma and Brightness values relatively high. When I end the game those values are not reset and my desktop is blindingly bright, so every time after closing the game I need to open my settings and readjust the values. I am playing TDM on debian testing and a NVidia GeForce GTS 250. I normally run the game from a terminal and the last line is always a memory access error. If I should be reporting bugs elsewhere I am very sorry and thankful for directions. [Edit]Urgh, I just now saw the support forum. Obviously I am blind.
  17. I'm wondering if anyone ever checks new posts in the Fan Missions Forums? I've posted 4 questions asking for help for 4 different missions that I can't finish because I"m stuck, and I don't get any help. I posted a question this morning so I don't expect an answer right away for that one. Its frustrating because I would like to finish them. I've read through the posts for each mission and I'm not getting anything from them. If there's someone who could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks I guess I'm spoiled from the TTLG forums.
