  1. Experimenting with TDM on Steam Link on Android. see topic http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19432-tdm-on-steam-link-for-android/

Did the TDM team removed D3's internal Joypad feature? (tdm works only with systemkey binders for joysicks)

Thanks to shadrach, i got my joypad working in TDM on steam link!

  2. So, you've been working for weeks or months and finally have a fan mission that you're happy with. Now what do you do? 1. Playtest (in private) You've obviously been testing things yourself as you build, but it's important to get a few fresh perspectives before releasing your mission. Other players will try things that you never thought of, and will help you decide if your mission is too easy or difficult. They can also spot texture misalignments, floating objects, and other mapping pitfalls that we all fall into from time to time. Don't just post a link to your mission in the public forums, however. Lots of people are bound to download it and play it without realizing it is still in the playtest phase, and then complain about any bugs. We recommend you post a message asking for beta-testers, and then email them a link to your mission. It's probably also best to handle feedback through private messages; even with spoiler tags, things inevitably slip out. 2. Test the Release version It's very easy to make a last-minute, minor tweak to your mission, and then upload it, only to find out that you forgot to dmap, and now your aas is out of date. Oops! If you change anything, it needs to go through a couple of testers. This does slow down the release process, right at the moment where you're most excited. But you don't want to be in a position of dozens of people trying your mission with a last minute bug that slipped through. 3. Submit your mission .pk4 for hosting Where should you host your pk4? Good question. There are several public sites that will host small pk4 files. Mediafire darklurker 4. Post a Release Announcement Post a new message in the Fan Mission forum with the following title: "Fan Mission: [mission title] by [author] ([release date in yyyy/mm/dd format])" The first post should include a short synopsis of your mission, perhaps with a couple screenshots, as well as download links. 5. Add your FM to the Fan Mission List. Other Considerations A few other miscellaneous details... External Material: If you use external material (textures, sounds, models, etc) that isn't part of the mod repository, and you didn't make it yourself, get permission. We won't host or link to any missions that use copyrighted material, and it's not a good way to make a name for yourself. Credit: Be sure to give credit for anything you use that you didn't make (other than the stuff in the main mod itself). That's just good form. If someone helped you write your readables or made a loading image for you, credit them too. The TDM Website: Don't post asking why your FM has not been added to the official FM page on the Dark Mod website the day it is released. As the number of TDM FMs grows, it will take longer to ensure that new missions are copyright-issue-free, so it may take some time for new missions to appear.
  3. This is not a promise, nor any kind of pressure on other mission authors to make a specific kind of mission. But I am interested in what kind of missions you would like to see made and released for TDM. I will start with a few I would enjoy. Giant Bonehoard-style tomb-robbing mission. Self-explanatory. Something with a large area to explore, various tombs to break into, a few puzzles and traps to spice things up, and maybe some common thread to link them. I have wanted to make one for a long-long time, but haven't gotten to it yet.Weird Pagan mission: either Constantine's mansion-style craziness, or something that brings out the creepy and unsettling side of Pagans. Maybe even something like The Maw of Chaos.Mines and other underground locations. Rusty machinery, forgotten and haunted sections, flooded areas and so on.There are a lot more kind of fan missions I enjoy, of course (I enjoy most of them), but these are the ones I would love to see more of.
  4. Thomas Porter is back in a TDM FM called... The Phrase Book by Sotha Release notes: If you find something called "softened lead ball" do note that it will not KO AI in TDM 1.07. Once 1.08 comes with its new features, the ball should work. While waiting for 1.08, the ball might still work as a distraction. The mission uses heavily RITs, so guard activity should be more interesting and challenging. The mission randomizes the location of few critical objects upon map start, so that coupled with the AI RIT behavior the mission should be more replayable than any other missions TDM has seen thus far. Please use spoiler tags. I do not recommend you read further as someone always fails to use spoiler tags. Download: There was a bug in the initial release. New version is here: Use the ingame downloader to get it. Fixes: Increased font size to make briefing easier to read. Fixed a stupid unpickable door issue. ENJOY!
  5. ...when you read a 4chan thread on Thief, and find a recommended fan missions guide with one of your FMs in the first place... http://i.4cdn.org/v/1444470589913.jpg :D

I want to play all of those lol. I've played some of them, but I missed a LOT of good ones.

Cool. Disorientation deserves its spot there. I know most of these but there a few I have yet to try.

Haha, good to see that you're Anonymous approved. Well done!

  6. I'm stuck with a craptop, and can't run everything, I allready looked up the wiki page about performance so please don't spam it in this thread. Missions like st. lucia run ok with some fps drops sometimes in the outside areas but it's playable since most of the tension is inside. Not looking for much detail but it would be cool if the creator somehow still managed to make it look pretty.
  7. I was listening to The Official Podcast featuring Cr1tikal, now known as penguinz0 on YouTube. Episode 190. The theme of the episode was conspiracy theories like Chemtrails, Flat Earth, and Anti-Vaccinations. The hilarity of the premise of some of the ideas they posted could be made into Comedy Missions. For example, a powerful alliance of both Rogue Mages and Extremist Builders learn that the world really ISN'T flat, but they believe that in order for the Builder to return, the world must be MADE flat. So, a bunch of ridiculously stupid idea loving wizards and religious folk try to complete a massive spell to literally flatten a town as a "test". Meanwhile, a "raw water" craze with the locals of said town, coupled with an anti-healer movement, results in a damn zombie plague outbreak, and it's up to the Thief player to steal the crystal or relic that's powering their "town-flatter" ritual, resulting in the ritual failing. After, a squad of Official Builders arrive to deal with the zombie outbreak and rogue wizards & heretics. The entire town of morons get burned in fire by the Church, and you make off with all their money in the Chaos. What do you think?
  8. Three fan missions updated with numerous small fixes, and vastly reduced file size. :)

      Melan

Yes, most of them are in the current version (often with improvements), so they no longer had to be included in the mission archives.

Fiasco at Fauchard Street went from 62 to 14 MB, and so on. Quite impressive.

Just played a bit last night, nice work.

  9. I recently updated from 2.05 to 2.06. Then, all my previously downloaded missions (which I think is most of them) disappeared from my in-game list. I can't see squat! I checked and they are all in the FMs folder where they've always been. Also when I click on download missions, none show up. And I know that two have been released since I updated. Help!
  10. Of Thieves and Rubies A campaign of four small missions for Thief 2. Author Silencium18. Religious Conflict A pack of two missions for Thief 2. Author cardia1. IMHO, Darkfate is the place go for T1/2/3 mission news as it covers missions sometimes not mentioned on ttlg, see below for the news link for the above missions - - http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&prev=_dd&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http://darkfate.org/news&usg=ALkJrhhLxde4ynVOUxhekb9ZX01EkZawbg
  11. Does anyone know where to go to download Thief 2 missions? I can't find the old sites, except thiefmissions.com, but that hasn't been updated since last year
  12. The Creeps By Mortem Desino Available via the In-Game Downloader (approx. 60 MB) It crawls upon human minds why some are bound up in grave sins. For what does it profit a man if he remains devoted to the nether creatures? Surely such deeds shall earn no portion from the Lord Builder. Such a man has destroyed his high place in Heaven. --Bishop Deifer, Letters to the Builder Clerics This is a small experimental gameplay FM, exploring a few shock/creep/horror capabilities of TDM. It was designed to be played but one time: so give yourself some time to explore a relatively small space. Updated to v1.01 -- July 7, 2012
  13. Any Halloween missions are about to be released?

      Nothing has been announced.

  14. Hi everyone. As 2.0 is standing outside the door I'd like to convert my missions to the I18N format. I'd promised that Tels but always forgot about it before release (too much enthusiasm I guess ). Anyways, as we have quite a couple of non-native english people here and I have to fix the maps anyways, I wanna do this now. The problem is that I can only provide a german translation, as this is the only language I speak (beneath the terrible english you are forced to read here ). So if anyone is interested to add translations to other languages as well, just post her.
  15. TWO new fan missions in one day?! :D You people are astounding!

  16. Right now the only Campaign I played was "No Honour Amongst Thieves" if that information is needed. Is there actually a Campaign that has a shop in which you can buy Thieves' Gear from the start AND on the consecutive missions? Very similar to the Thief games. That would be great. Or is that, for now, not possible?
  17. Did a great find today: Quake 4 mods for dummies. Now online readable. http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/5576-book-quake-4-mods-for-dummies/?p=412644

  18. I'm still alive! The Smiling Cutpurse Screenshots Title: The Smiling Cutpurse Theme: Inn Release: 2016/03/25 Mapper: Airship Ballet Special thanks: Oldjim, Baal and Phi for beta testing this forever ago! Build Time: ~2 weeks This mission has been finished for ages, but I always intended to take it further. This was supposed to be the first half of the third Quinn Co mission, but I ended up disliking how the two came together, so decided to make this its own standalone mission and to go and work on the next Quinn Co. I forgot all about this for the longest time, and only last night came back to tie up the loose ends and make it into its own mission. I made the mission itself as a proof of concept for completely modular architecture. Every wall, floor and ceiling inside the inn is part of a prefab. The rooms, corridors, all of it is modular. I realised how easy it is to create huge areas within minutes, and ended up with a space big enough to accommodate a proper mission. It's turned out pretty well, I think! It's a standard mission, nothing too special. Sneak around, steal things, have fun! As always, let me know of any problems you find, and leave feedback anyway if you're feeling helpful! Cheats I'm already infamous for unfair hiding places. There's no shame in being stumped! I'm totally judging you though. Obviously don't expand spoilers if you don't want spoilers. Where's the vault? How do I get inside? And? ...go on... Where, though? But how do I leave? Where's the sewer key? Download links cutpurse.pk4

He changed ita long while back, it was so he was using the same name as he uses on other forums.

  19. House in Blackbog Hollow. You've been hired by an old man to steal a sack of ancient items from a locked crate outside a warehouse in the small walled village of Black Bog, about 25 miles east of Bridgeport, the old man lives in an old ramshackled shack east of Black Bog church, you are to take the box to him as soon as you get it. submission for the halloween contest 2011. Map has not been betatested, so may break if you knockout or kill anyone or thing in the house or beyond, its also impossible to get all the loot there's always about 150 missing from total loot at the end.
  20. Hello Everyone. I have searched the wiki, the forum (advanced search) and the FAQ's finding MANY references to Mission Type but NOWHERE have I been able to find an explanation of what Mission Type is. Could someone please enlighten me and in addition explain the difference between the 'official TDM' mission list and the community maintained list since the Types 'seem' different between the two. Thanks in advance for any help.
  21. This may be a known problem, but I didn't find it in a scan through previous topics. Suddenly when I install old missions and try to load Saves, it just goes to "Press Attack to Start" and restarts the mission instead, on every Save. Apparently I can do new Saves but not load any of the existing ones. Anyone know how to rectify this? I've tried downloading updates, restarting the computer etc.
  22. Hi I've recently started doing Let's Plays of The Dark Mod missions, and they've gotten a lot of comments and views. In my latest one, "A Score to Settle", I mentioned on a side note, totally randomly, that it would be fun to do voice acting for a game character. I got a comment from "b1k3rdude" regarding this: "Glad you liked playing SH mission, and yes would love you to do some lines for us, so come on over to the TDM forums and ask for either Spings or myself!" Well, I'm happily taking up that offer, and asking for Springheel or b1k3rdude, hopefully with the result of getting to do some voice acting . Thanks a bunch in advance, I think it sounds like a lot of fun. I've been thoroughly enjoying The Dark Mod with my playthroughs and would love to add something to it.
